*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (1 Viewer)

Did anyone catch The Grantland Basketball Hour last week? Apparently that's where Simmons finished the rest of his trade value rankings. Sucks IMO. Much prefer an actual column.
Is this true? He's not going to run parts 2 and 3 in his column?

Karl and the Kings have reached an agreement for something along the lines of 4 years and $15million. I think that is a great get for the Kings. Obviously it won't make a bit of difference for this season, but with a couple roster moves this offseason, the Kings very well could be a playoff team a year from now.
Franchise has zero patience. Turned into a complete joke. They were ready to give up on McLemore after Year 1 (who has predictably improved). Already rumbles they're already looking to give Stauskas away.

I'm going to guess Karl lasts no more than 2 years of that contract.

Which is probably what he wants anyway.

If he can make it 5 more years or so, he'll retire with the most wins of all time, unless Adelman or Pop catches him.

let's remember charles as the guy who wanted to be governor of alabama. he also wants to be the GM of a NBA team too. he wonders why no franchise will take him up on the offer?
To be fair to Chuck, he really does know what he's talking about when it comes to personnel and evaluating potential.

Barkley then went into the tirade against Morey in post-game that is full of more holes than the street meat he craves. But what was really eye-opening was that Barkley said Morey, who he called an “idiot”, has only made the obvious moves of adding superstar talent.

“He went out and got James Harden and Dwight Howard and (he’s) going to tell me that’s analytics,” said Barkley.

Interesting, because here’s what Barkley had to say about the Harden trade at the time. Two days after Morey pulled off the deal and gave him the then-controversial $80 million contract, Barkley went on ESPN’s Pardon The Interruption (full audio) and said how great of a trade it was…

… for the Thunder.

"I love the Oklahoma City trade. I think that trade made them better. I’m a Kevin Martin and Jeremy Lamb fan. I like that trade a lot for them."

Host Tony Kornheiser then asked Barkley point blank if he felt Harden was a “foundational player the way the Rockets apparently do.”

"I do not. I do not see him like that for the simple fact (that) being an instant offense off the bench, when they’re going to give you the ball every time and you’re the dominant scorer, it won’t work like that when you’re in a traditional offense."

Ouch. Harden, currently riding back-to-back games of 40+ points, is now considered by many to be the NBA’s MVP leader this season. This is revisionist history at its finest. Barkley would have you believe this was an obvious move, yet he himself did not see this coming out of Harden.

On the other hand, Morey — as well as many others who believe in so-called “analytics” — did.

“We feel like James Harden is a player we can build around. He’s an elite offensive player, a complete player. I still think he’s an underrated player,” said Morey the day after the trade. “He’s absolutely someone that, when they see him step into the role of a star with the Houston Rockets, people are going to realize just how good he is.”

Added Morey: “To win the title, you have to have a foundational player, and James is that.”

Boogie put up quite the line last night. 28 points, 19 boards, 5 assists, 4 blocks on 9-20 shooting. I'll give him a pass on the 6 turnovers. I wonder what Karl will do with him.

The handling of the coaching situation has been deplorable. I'm not going to kill them on their roster decisions though. McLemore was turrrrible last year and the deals they were "giving up on him" in were, for example, trade proposals for Kevin Love and the like.

the guys on milwaukee sports radio are talking about the bucks trying to get stauskus but the two guys talking were the morning guys who are hardly ever right about anything but i would be all for it because i now believe kidd can basically do anything to get guys to play i am totally turned around on him and like him a lot take that to the bank bromigos

The way Snell's been playing, no need for Bulls to go after Afflalo.

Unless Dunleavy was involved, didn't understand the rumor to begin with. With the way the Bulls have drafted recently, no way I'd give a 1st for a rental of Afflalo.

Good win by Bulls 2nite. Rose played with a lot more confidence tonight. Can't say enough good things about Tony Snell. Was phenomenal on both ends.

Doosh chills flowing watching Kevin Hart in this celebrity game. Jesus.

He just stripped Monae Davis with like 4 seconds left in half instead of letting her go for buzzer-beater. It's like Billy Madison.

If you have three celebrity-game MVP's you are a monumental doosh.

It's on in the background.

Time for the Jazz to free Gobert.

I'm sure they can get something of value in a deal for Kanter. Those 3 young bigs aren't going to co-exist for long.

About what time does the 3pt competition start? That's the only event I'm interested in watching ...

Anyone? I imagine its sandwiched in between the skills comp, and the dunk flop

18 advanced you in years past....when they didn't have a full ####### money rack adding 4 more possible points. Reggie is an idiot.

And you get it in your favorite spot.

Dunk contest off to a less than thrilling start.
Oladipo was impressive
Who?
The guy who was on the team that smoked your Michigan Wolverines - I'm sure you remember that.
I was just joking because LaVine destroyed Oladipo.
Haha, LaVine was sick. Sorry, I didn't mean to come off like a ####. Those IU-UM battles that year were fantastic.

No problem, Oladipo was a great player.

This is a blowout. The best part is LaVine has done the most difficult dunks and hasn't needed any 2nd chances. They all came done with authority.

When Larry Bird won the first 3 point contest, teams averaged 3.3 three point attempts per game. They now average 22.3 attempts per game.

That is truly astounding.
