Why do we care about what this alan dude says to the point we are copy and pasting his twitter timeline in this thread?
One of the best NCAA sharks, has made a living for 20-30yrs off betting games. And Nipsey likes him.

You don't know where this comment comes from... Boston strongly believes the mid-majors get screwed and the Floridas of the tournament get setup with easier paths. It wasn't a "Dayton sucks" comment in a vacuum. He's reacting to Florida's bracket and the bubble teams that didn't get in

So the unders in both games tomorrow have to hit, right? All 4 teams playing have really slow tempos.
Michigan doesn't play slow. They can and I think they may try to against UK, but I wouldn't call Michigan a slow tempo team. They like to push the ball and get open 3s in transition.
Neither does Michigan State. In the tourney MSU has won 93-78, 80-73, and 61-59 against the best defense in the country.

Lots of Big Ten teams that know their best chance to beat UM or MSU is slow the game to a crawl so that's what they do. That doesn't mean those guys don't want to run.

I'm going by the kenpom adjusted tempo ratings. Michigan is 333rd in tempo. I think that certainly qualifies as slow paced.

Michigan st. is 195th which is faster but still not up there.

Zona had a chance to win at the end. They only have themselves to blame.
I don't think they have to blame anyone. Wisconsin played great. Great game. It's still a terrible call though. 3 seconds left in a one point(?) game to decide who goes to the final four. You can't make that call there. Imagine how many all-time great moments in sports might never have been if that guy was reffing.
Way too much talk about this call. He missed the shot anyway and WIS had 3 guys under the rim to snatch the rebound.
Whistle intermittently blared before he got it up, can't say he would have missed it anyway. We'll never know.
Serious;y? The whistle effected the shot? Sure you don't wanna blame the crowd noise or odd back light while you are at it?

As a Wisconsin fan I fear the unknown more than the known. Go Michigan as I think it is a coinflip against them in the final four.

Last thought on the refs from last night, they were bad. A number of calls that I didn't agree with in no particular order...

1) Pushoff on Arizona

2) Overturn of the out of bounds

3) Kaminsky's 2nd foul

4) Gordon's 1st? foul when Hayes elbowed him out

There are others but those are the big ones as they were magnified because they were at the end or they changed the way that the players had to play defense due to foul trouble.

Sure it does. Guys let up a little on both sides. We're talking fractions of inches here. And while it's likely Wisc gets the rebound if he misses you can't say that for sure either as the two zona players who may have had a shot at the ball just stopped playing. If the foul was on the defender there wouldn't have been an intermittent whistle. Ears hear the intermittent whistle, brain deciphers almost immediately, shot affected.

On top of that the whistle allows the second badger defender to challenge the shot freely without the worry of being called for a foul. It looks like Johnson is hit on the wrist after releasing the ball. No whistle and maybe that 2nd defender doesn't wildly swat at the ball as it leaves Johnson's hand.

:lmao:

Uconn double-teaming Payne early and often. Michigan St. guarding the perimeter.

So far, it's been about UConn taking advantage down low on offense and turnovers, strangely.

Can't argue with that. If UM isn't pushing the ball, they do take their time on offense. There isn't an inbetween, it's either push and get a quick basket or go into the offense and wait for a good shot.

This has been by far the best defensive strategy against MSU and I'm not sure why anyone would try anything different.

Harris has started to find some space and hit shots but it's still hard to argue with UConn's overall defensive results so far.

Giffey ice cold - usually hits those open 3s
He's killing them.
Immediately after he releases you can tell it's off track. 51% 3PT shooter with wide open looks. He better find his rhythm in the 2nd half because they aren't going to do much inside.
I think the announcers missed the fact that UConn is a perimeter team, and it's not just the guards that need to hit threes.

Daniels 0-1

Giffey 0-3.

We're talking about a different game if even one goes in. State is shooting 40% from three. UConn is shooting 17%, and has taken twelve of them.

eta* Underdog dying by the three is so cliched. Dang.

Hard to watch. Brick-fest.
I could have told you not to bet the over...

You can't have thought the UVA/MSU 140 point brick-fest was an accident? Especially with the ACC champs that knock down threes playing.

This was always the criticism of UConn until they got to the tourneys and shut teams down from the perimeter, same as MSU today.

Anyone have a good NBA comp, past or present, for Napier? He reminds me of so many guys, but not one in particular. Great handles, quick, can shoot the lights out.

And the worst call of the game
Not even close.

There was definitely a case for that foul to be called as Johnson clearly pushed him off. But at that point int he game it's not usually called, I'll give you that.

Easily the worst call was the blocking foul on Kaminsky in the first half when that was CLEARLY a Charge.

But the refs were so bad during the entire game that nothing surprised me there.
I was still trying to figure out how you call a blocking foul on a guy who was standing still and the other dude drops the shoulder into him.

Awful call for sure.
