First game, gets an early sack and then naddda but Van Den Bosch goes nuts as does Corey Williams and the other Lion D-Linemen rack up the stats.

At Nebraska one of his DEs also cleaned up and gathered up a few honors but he wasn't NFL draft worthy.

Van Den Bosch had stud potential and to a lessor degree so did Corey Williams but I think the reason they are doing so well is due to Suh.

I know the scuttlebutt at the tmie of the draft was that McCoy was the only guy who stood to get IDP stats and that Suh would be relegated to doing heavy lifting for others on the Lions D-line and so far it appears that is precisely what is happening.

Any salvageable worth for Suh or an upside where he will start to collect some tackles with the odd sack or batted down pass or occasional FF/FR mixed in because I was thinking he would be good for 2/3 solos plus 1/2 assists and a sack every second/third game plus a FF/FR every four games and a handful of PDs from batted down balls at the LOS but the first game has me backing off a bit to re-evalute.

What do the homers see and I that far off on my original take or will he just be the whipping boy that allows guys like Corey Williams and Van Den Bosch to clean up?

I think that unless you must play a DT, you shouldn't have a DT on your fantasy roster.

If you must have one, he's probably as good as any.

Im not wanting to give an estimate to his production. I watched some of the game and kinda concur that for whatever reason, Suh helped but wasnt scoring. I know in my big points league hes rostered and starting. I personally could list a few big play guys that I would rather risk a donut with...

I just checked the schedule and it may be worth risking his starting until the bye. Philly will extend the play, we seen Favre struggle, Rodgers seen his share of sacks, St Louis at home and last but not least Eli before the bye (dont think there gonna underestimate the Lions do ya) thn maybe grab a guy like S. Pouha whose had his bye and should see a good amt of snaps.<-- If you have to start a lineman or just mindset on doing so

Suh was getting double and triple teamed against the Bears and still penetrating into the backfield. I think Suh is going to be a player that opens things up for others. At some point if the rest of the dline produce, he'll get his chances. but agree, for now, Williams is the Lions DT to own in dT required leagues.

Suh will get a sack vs PhillyMark it down
Yep and I have him stashed but unfortunately on my bench this week. Two weeks, two sacks and this week he's starting to add solos and assists.Couldn't see the game so can some who have been able to see Suh provide some details?

I agree that a traditional DT isn't a good position to go after in IDP leagues unless one is required but I think Ndamukong trancends the model of a traditional DT.I think Suh is a generational talent like a Reggie White and that he will put up stats that a generational talent like a Reggie White produced.

Ndamukong Suh is starting his career like a generational talent.

Lions rookie off to hot start

Allen Park -- Two games into the season, and Ndamukong Suh is piling up the numbers.

Take last Sunday's loss to the Eagles, in which the rookie defensive tackle had as many tackles (eight) as the Lions starting linebackers combined.

"He's a great player and he's been getting sacks and getting tackles and stuff like that," defensive tackle Corey Williams said of Suh. "But he's just beginning."

Just beginning? That's scary.

Suh surely hasn't played like a rookie, with nine tackles (seven solo), two sacks, three tackles for loss and three quarterback hits.

He's on pace for 16 sacks, and looked like a grizzled veteran on one particular play against the Eagles. Suh bull-rushed his way through an Eagles offensive lineman, grabbed quarterback Michael Vick by the top of the shoulder pads and dragged him to the turf for a sack.

Still, as great as Suh has looked, there's still plenty of room for improvement.

"He can still play better," coach Jim Schwartz said. "There are still plays in there that he can do better. He had a lot of tackles in this game. He got good pressure on the quarterback and had some good physical plays.

"But I think that we're just seeing the surface scratched with him. That sounds a little funny when he's had a sack in each of his first two games."

There was only one other defensive tackle who led his team in tackles in Week 2 -- Sione Pouha of the Jets, who shared the lead (six) with linebacker David Harris in a victory over the Patriots.

What's made Suh's performance more remarkable is that he's spending a majority of the time fighting double teams.

"For defensive tackles, it's hard to get sacks," Schwartz said. "And he's got one in each of his first two games."

Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham gave Suh the highest rating he's given any player coming into the league in 29 years. And, most draft experts considered Suh the best player available.

He has done nothing to prove them wrong.

"That's tough billing to live up to," Schwartz said. "If someone had tough billing to live up to, it was him. He came in with a lot of accolades and we drafted him high. He's pleased us in that regard."

Suh, Williams and defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch have solidified the Lions defensive front.

Detroit has 10 sacks, tied with Green Bay for the league lead. Last year, the Lions had 26, good for 29th.

"It's definitely something to build on," Suh said Sunday.

Yep. I'm starting to believe he might turn out to be the exception when it comes to DT's in IDP .

In my tackle heavy league, Suh is the #1 ranked D-linemen according to Norton's projections this week ....not just DT, but all linemen including ends.

And I agree with him. I drafted McCoy in our rookie draft about two picks after Suh. McCoy hasn't been bad, but my goodness, Suh is a manchild.

Please take into account how God-awful the 'Skins interior line is. Most are predicting 4 new o-lineman next year (LG-RT), and the weakest link among those bad four linemen is C Casey Rabach.

Suh's great, but this week can't be viewed as normal.

Even discounting this week, 5 sacks through 7 weeks for a rookie DT is ridiculous.

I wanted to check in on Ndamukong not only when Suh plays great but also when he doesn't rack up the stats.

Pro Football Focus did a recent write-up on Suh saying that his stats are misleading in that his pressures turn into sacks but that he doesn't get as much pressure as guys with far less sacks. Also he's been held sackless the last two games and he's coming off his worst statistical fantasy IDP scoring game and faces Kitna who seems to get the ball out very fast and then Ndamukong has a quick turn-around and plays on Thanksgiving against Tom Brady and the Pats but I think the Pats are vulnerable on pressure on the middle.

IDP D-linemen have up and down games but hopefully we get a feel for Suh and when he might have potential for big games. I'm thinking Sunday may not be the best matchup but he could be a decent play Thanksgiving but I'm keeping him in my lineup this week because he has the potential to blow up.
