Ministry of Pain

The NFL does not take these games seriously, most of the teams are pretty much locked and loaded with what they want to do.

You will see some funky box scores tonight, some guys you are not familiar with and even some RB2/WR3-4 types who have a star studded evening. I would caution anyone scoping the box scores tonight looking for a diamond in the rough.

Someone is gonna have 100 yds rush/rec and be cut on Sat, just the way it is. Most decent players won't play more than a drive or two if that much.

Pats second d looking really good against the giants first offense.... Of course, this is game 4 of the preseason, so not much is surprising.

The Giants look they started Eli, Criz, Nicks, Wilson...don't know if that means anything but if you will rest Bradshaw but not the other starters...maybe some local Giants can chime in.

NY not taking any chances with Wilson in pass-pro. Every snap he's in is either a running play or PA.

Ware taking 3rd down duties.

Good to see Nicks back on the field. Noticed he wasn't out there on the last drive with the other starters. Hopefully it was just a case of being safe, and not him having issues.

I cannot believe people pay full prices for these games. What a joke.
No doubt. They should be free considering most fans would spend what they saved on concessions and merchandise. Probably has something to do with the profit sharing plans though.

This last week of the preseason is about getting the people on the bubble a closer look with more playing time. For everyone else, it gives them some time on the field to have their moment before they're cut. Other then that, I really don't think there is anything else to draw from. Especially from a FF perspective.

So is playing a lot in the 4th preseason game considered a good thing or a bad thing? Is not playing at all considered a good thing or a bad thing? Is there anything to learn at all from a 4th preseason game?

LMAO at MOP starting this thread, then asking questions about the very same thing he warned against in the OP
Now Royster has been hovering as the RB2...it's a little odd tonight. New England for example, clearly they were not going to risk injury to anyone. In Washinton we are looking at Royster 1st, hell 2nd...No Alfred Morris(Assume he is RB1?)

How much time in preseason game 4 did last year's surprises play last year/ (ie Cruz, etc...)

Most of the time when a guy doesn't see the field and he has been touted as the starter at that position...safe to assume they are the #1. Tonight some guy named Bolden or something similar had 15 carries for New England in the 1st half...he won't make the 53 man roster. If Michael Turner doesn't touch the field and Rodgers has 15 touches for 100 yards, the Rodgers faithful will line up and say he has won the job. Depends on the players and teams involved.

I think anytime some of these players get playing time in the 4th preseason game it's always a good thing. It's their opportunity to show their worth and argue why they deserve a spot on an NFL roster. Perhaps even the practice squad if it comes to that. Regardless, it's never a bad thing to have playing time on film. It's something for scouts and coaches to look at for later. This may not mean much for fantasy football, but for someone who has a dream of playing in the NFL it's huge.

Royster 44/TD, then Helu got some looks.Any chance Royster will get 10-12+ touches a game?
So first you take the time to point out the incredibly obvious fact that the last week of the pre-season means nothing, and now you're reading into the stats?
I just find the mix of Royster and Helu interesting. Clearly Alfred Morris is going to start the season RB1...CBS has him listed 4th on the depth charts.

Helu looks really good tonight. Also, I wouldn't make any assumptions on who the skins starter is vs the saints just yet. Not saying it won't be Morris but I think it's far from a guarantee.

The irony in this thread is so awesome.

And people actually think this guy should be on staff? :lmao:
I have already written for FBG multiple times and years, the money from those articles is paying for the down payment on my new 2 story house. I'd like to thank Joe and David for improving my quality of life.

I would say the Skins are one of those situations where we just don't know. That said, someone on that team is going to have a 4-5 game tear at some point.

Several games in the same thread takes a bit to process.

Helu is showing he has the talent if he can stay healthy and hold onto the ball.

The whole point of the Redskins backfield question and many in here did get it, if the OP is CAPTAIN OBVIOUS then Royster or Helu is likely to be cut here in the next few days, right?

See I'm not so sure about that and I get the feeling others don't either.
