Who's doing the cooking?
I'm cooking the fish dish and my wife will take care of everything else.Who's doing the cooking?
We are having 3 other families over for dinner tomorrow and my wife asked me to choose a cocktail to serve for the adults. It needs to be summery and appropriate for both sexes. It also needs to be a little "off the beaten path". i.e. Not a g&t.
Anyone have anything?
We are past Labor Day, since you are already breaking etiquette then my recommendation would be a big batch of Jungle Juice. It needs to be summery
Jungle Juice checks this box. Although after 3-4 drinks you can throw anything appropriate out the window.appropriate for both sexes
Enough Jungle Juice will turn most prudes into fans of bondage, ### slapping, hair pulling, etc. The "beaten path" is often unavoidable with Jungle Juice. It also needs to be a little "off the beaten path"
Out of some real Moscow Mule mugs.Moscow Mule or Dark and Stormy. Both made with ginger beer and lime juice, which covers the "summery" part. Just pick between vodka and black rum.
Going to investigate this.Pimms Cup for the win. Lots of different variations of the classic. Good for groups and can serve in a pitcher. Chicks dig the muddled cucumber. I like it with a bit of gin and go half ginger beer, half seltzer.
What does Pimms taste like? :intrigued: What does the gin add? Other than awesomeness, of course.Major said:Pimms Cup for the win. Lots of different variations of the classic. Pimms No 1 (i think this may be the only one available in the US...or at least widely distributed) is gin based and has some added herbs and spices. I like it but it does have a bit of an odd taste. What does Pimms taste like? :intrigued: What does the gin add? Other than awesomeness, of course.

What Mersault are we thinking?chet said:Yes. Aperitifs. We will likely have a Mersault or Montrachet with the fish.
I almost posted that as well, but he said "off the beaten path".Mai Tai
Yes but you can twist some things around. I particularly like the way they make this drink in some Asian restaurants. I think when made with fresh ingredients that it's one of the best cocktails out there.I almost posted that as well, but he said "off the beaten path".
Get Hendricks it'll help bring out some cucumber flavor. Don't get Goslings ginger beer, it'll do in a pinch but Fever Tree makes a much better product.Going out to get some Pimms. I will try the following:
INGREDIENTS
About 1 cup ice cubes
1/4 cup (2 ounces) Pimm's No. 1
6 tablespoons (3 ounces) ginger beer or ginger ale
1 cucumber slice
1 sprig fresh mint (5 to 6 leaves)
I will also fortify the men's cocktails with with Hendricks or Martin Miller gin.
Is this something I can make in a pitcher instead of having to make 8 separate drinks?

This is the best flavored vodka every produced. Hangar One, yes?I have sn awesome bottle of homemade Buddha's Hand infused vodka. Really bright and citrusy. Makes a great drink with some combo of soda, lime, ginger. If you want to come by and grab it, I'll be home all afternoon.
You cn definitely do Pimms pitchers. Great drink, and really good as an aperetif. A lot of these suggestions are not appropriate for before dinner.Going out to get some Pimms. I will try the following:
Goslings is OK, pick up some Fever Tree next time you're out its a fantastic product and you won't go back once you try it.Going with the Pimms Cup. Made one for my wife and she approved.
Whats td wrong with Goslings ginger beer? I really like it but will be the first to admit I am not a ginger beer connoisseur.
I don't remember which vodka I used. Maybe Death's Door, but I infused the Buddha's Hand myself. It's delicious. This is the best flavored vodka every produced. Hangar One, yes?
It certainly is not a sexy looking fruit but what it does, it does wellSounds dirty - I approve.
