Hi to all FBG members,i play in a league where i had won $100 and its June and the commish still has not paid me for the money i won in 07.I have no idea why ,it was a dynasty league that i was in for 5 years. What can i do,its a league on Mfl.com,i have emailed him and called him but to no regard. Is there any advice that someone can give. Thanks

Give him one more chance by letting him know via email and phone that if you do not get a satisfactory answer to your question of payment that you will quit the league and chalk it up to "living and learning". Get out while you can.

It's a C-note. Sure it hurts. But it's not that bad. There are a bunch of fella's owed thousands from the AFFL and they aren't going to get squat.

I'd say one more chance and include something like.....you can credit my $100 towrds my entry fee this year or something.....see if he gets back.....maybe have another league mate call him while you are right there and have the other league mate then put you on the phone....

Have the other winners been paid yet?I don't know what your league fees are but I would go into this year's draft with no intention of paying my league fee. I would also let the other owners know (at the draft) what happened and push for a new commissioner.

I don't normally follow AFFL, what's the story here?

Sorry to hear that. Has anyone been able to contact him? We lost a league member a couple of years ago. Not a good thought but it does happen.

I also did not get paid.

I lost in the championship game last year, Fred (Commish) owes me and the OP about $450 total.

I had told the commish near the end of last season I wouldn't be returning for 08.

Wanted to cut back, was a very inactive league, just wasn't fun at all.

Part of me now wishes I would have stayed

We tried calling/email/posting to reach commish, to no avail.

Finally the OP emailed the league calling out the commish saying he cheated us out of $$.

Then we finally hear back, with the old, "I have every intent on paying you, but since you guys jerked me around, I'm gonna be a jerk"

He called me a liar, and called out my friend (OP) with some personal stuff.

I responded saying he was pretty low.

His main job as commish is to disperse the winnings in a timely manner.

Eventually said, just keep the money, you need it more than I do.

I recommended using the money to buy some class.

these stories of big time $$ leagues going bankrupt and not paying anyone anything, and these little private leagues where the commishers is just stealing people's money is sicking... their going to kill Competitive $$ FF.

I would announce to the entire league what has happened... and ask that the commish explain himself.

Email him a virus if u do that type of stuff.

Post his Phone # and whatever other info u have of him all over the web... especially Gay / Animal Love sites.

theres plenty u can do..

Its sad because it makes me think 2-3 times about joining a league now, when you dont know the commish at all. Its going to get to a point where you are going to play in leagues with your buddies from your home town or work ,more now then ever before. Rather then join a league where you dont know the commish, which is sad because i have meet some good people and have made friends as well.

As a commish, I hate the money thing. The collecting is draining. The payouts are fun though.

If I didn't pay someone timely, I would feel bad. Even if you acted like a jerk about it. It's my responsibility.

If you want to stay in, ask if someone else can handle the money. As a commish, I love to hand that responsibility to someone else.

In some leagues, there someone who likes the role of bill collector, accountant, and prize van.

My advice is be patient and persistant. Make a date. Keep making them. Don't give up your money or mess up the league. Get your money. Keep playing. When you don't win and aren't having any fun, walk away timely, head high, pockets full, with class.

I never have and never will play in a money league if I don't know the commissioner. You could try joining a league run by a local sports bar. It gives you the payout security and an opportunity to play with people you don't know.

If you don't know the commish never quit a league before the winners are paid. (If you have money coming)

Good point, I had played with commish for several years, and just wanted to be as up front as possible.

Being a commish myself, I know the earlier I know the better

do you know the guy or where he works? i commish a league and i let people wait until the end of the season to payup. ive had a couple of instances where people tried giving me the runaround and not pay up. this is what i tell them that always seems to work, "hey, you still owe X dollars. im trying to get everything settled up so to make it easy for you and me, i'll swing by your work to pick up what you owe"

everytime ive used this statement, the debtor comes to my house and pay up that same day. No one wants their business being known by the co-workers.

I played and won a league a few years back. When I asked for my $$$ the commish had used the money for Christmas presents for his kids.

Unreal.

In the league I run, everyone pays up on draft day, no exceptions. If you don't pay, you don't draft. Everyone knows it and in 7 years, I have never had a problem. Everyone gets paid the week after the championship is over.

Don't be a pansy. If your dues next season are $100 or more, assume you've got a credit at the 08 Draft.

I commish a league with guys from 4 different states. I always settle up with the winners at the next seasons draft because that is usually the first opportunity for us all to get together. Plus it gives them a little extra incentive to not cancel on us at the last minute.

Nice calling the guy out like that. Surely as a commissioner you'd at least respond to email and explain you'd do it at the beginning of the season. When I win and it is a money league I expect to be paid, they expected me to pay up front.

I agree, it is lame if his commish isn't responding to emails or returning his calls. But I don't understand stressing about these winnings unless they are over and above what he would have to pay out in dues in a couple of months anyway.

:banned: Lot of reputable guys on here that fun FF leagues for $, Unlucky, Foursport, dluvlkn, myself, etc. and I know there are tons more. If you do a little research you can find leagues with reputable commishes.

I alone would have $350 coming to me, dues for 08 would be $100It's a dynasty league.I just don't even want to be in a league where a commish would flat out not pay/respond/acknowledge for over 5 moths.

I hear what you are saying. Let me change what I said, "If you do not know the commissioner and you don't get paid it is your fault".

Well first off hi to you as well UKSHANE,i would not care about the $100 if i was coming back to the league i would of used it as credit .But i told him last year that i was leaving and not coming back in 08,because he was on top of things as commis. He would change rules and other stuff with out putting anything to vote and would not even post it on the site.

TRUST me i would put the money i won towards the 08 season Fee's if i could since he has not payed me yet to date,But he locked me out by changing my password and then giving my team to someone else right away after i started emailing him and the whole league about the shady stuff he was doing to me and to another owner in the league.

There is a guy who still owes me his $20 entry fee from last year. I let him draft as he has always been a "late" payer, but always came thru. Not this time though but he keep "threatening" to pay me (can't find my mailing address, can't remember his paypal pw, etc)......I've written it off as he has since "retired".....selling your integrity for $20, so be it.....
