Need to drop a couple of these LBs (1 Viewer)

Hoosier

Footballguy
Anderson, James CAR LB

Hartwell, Edgerton ATL LB

Johnson, Landon CIN LB

Lehman, Teddy DET LB

McCoy, Matt PHI LB

Pierce, Antonio NYG LB

Ryans, DeMeco HOU LB

Thornton, David TEN LB

Wilkinson, Gerris NYG LB

16 team league, start 3 LBs.

I need to add depth at WR and don't need 9 backers.

My thoughts are cutting 2 of...

Landon Johnson - may challenge Simmons for a starting job ?

James Anderson - potential @ WLB ?

Teddy Lehman - not sure of his future

Gerris Wilkinson _ Like Anderson, could surprise @ WLB ?

Who goes ?

TIA

Drop Pierce and Ryans.

OK...I'm being a jerk. I would drop Johnson and Wilkinson. If you're in a 16-team league with only a 3-start LB lineup, both of these guys should be available at a later date.

Anderson has an outside of chance of the WLB gig in CAR, while Lehman is only one Boss Bailey injury away from manning the middle in DET again.

Those were the two I zeroed in on as well.

Same here. I wouldn't drop Anderson until TC. Do you need to do it now?Pat Yasinskas

Charlotte Observer

SITE: Wofford College, Spartanburg, S.C.

REPORTING DATE: July 28

TOP PRIORITY: Coach John Fox and coordinator Dan Henning want the running game to again be the focus of the offense. The return of a healthy DeShaun Foster and the arrival of rookie RB DeAngelo Williams will help. They will be asked to run between the tackles and to bounce outside and use their cutback abilities. The line will have new starters in C Justin Hartwig and RG Evan Mathis and needs to sharpen its run blocking.

CAMP CONFIDENTIAL: Na'il Diggs has a slight edge for the weakside linebacker job because he has a good size-speed combination, but rookie James Anderson will challenge Diggs if he quickly picks up the defense. . . .

Thomas Davis will get lots of reps in his first full camp at strongside linebacker after also playing safety last year. The team lacks a good blitzing linebacker, and Davis could fill that role. . . .

The coaches aren't high on WR Keary Colbert (5-10, 193), who struggled as a starter last season and now could lose the No. 3 job. Drew Carter (6-3, 200) is bigger and faster than Colbert but must run good routes and avoid drops.

KFFL, Ourlads, Sporting News all list Lehman as starting MLB. FBG has him as OLB?? Not to highjack but.....just curious.

Early indications are...WLB: Sims

MLB: Bailey

SLB: Lehman

With the injury history of all three players, throw a dart b/c this could get choppy.

I would rid of Landon Johnson and David Thornton. Ed Hartwell is a pretty close third if I had to choose today.

my 2 cents

I'm making the assumption this is dynasty.

I tend to agree that dropping Anderson and Wilkinson seems the easiest route.

Any trade interest in Hartwell? You may be able to pawn him off on some owner reminiscing Ed's bays in Baltimore. I tend to think Hartwell will disappoint again but the previous poster is correct. Even if you drop Anderson and Wilkinson, they'll likely be available later.

Wilkinson is quickly establishing himself as the primary backup at both MLB and WLB for NY. I'm not sold on Arrington's ability to stay healthy. I think Wilkinson will see the field more than expected this year. The Giants coaches love him.
