In the scenario you mention yes, he probably should fix it. Can you blame him for saying no? Absolutely not. Is it possible you pulled the trigger on this then found out he didn't really sign? Of course. We will never know and neither will your commissioner. This isn't that black and white.

Our rules state that I will not get involved in fixing "operator error" issues on our league site but that is based on seeing some "interesting" adds/drops over the years.

I mean, he could've went either way - reversing the move or not. He made a decision and now you are here. How is this thread going to change anything for you? What is it you hope to accomplish?
I'm not really making a huge deal out of it. It is Matt Jones after all. It's more on the principal that I would hope others would get their mistake fixed in the future.
I think your two reactions here are contradictory--if you're looking for the commish to "correct your error". At the same time--your bringing up the question can be worthwhile. If the rules are cut-and-dried, then you're looking at next year, and this example is a good start for discussion of a league rules change.
