The camera angles, of course, leave viewers wondering: Did he really do that? Simms, of course, has a ready answer.
"I'm that accurate," he said Friday.
Then he fessed up: "I plugged them in there. Maybe not one right after another. That's the magic of cine-matography. They can make it look like all one thing. It was a really fun thing to do, though. I saw it for the first time a couple nights ago. It was really cool."
Simms filmed the commercial during the offseason at One Buc Place, firing about 60 passes to get the necessary footage.
"I guess the commercial wasn't long enough to put all my makes in there," he said.
When Simms throws at the goal post, the camera follows the flight of the ball from the time it leaves his hand. No magic involved.
"I do that all the time," Simms said. "But I'll tell you what, as crazy as it is, the one I was best on was the golf cart, the moving target. I made that a few times right in a row."
Except the last one.
Simms hit the guy driving the golf cart.
"He was like, 'Arrgh,' " Simms said. "So that was the last one."
