New Candidate for Commissioner (1 Viewer)

I just saw this at Vikingupdate.com and had to laugh hystericly:

SUNDAY NOTES

* With the owners meetings set to get underway, instant replay will again be a front-burner issue. With all the flaws that have been apparent in the system, if replay reverses one call that was made incorrectly, it technically is a system that works and should be retained.

* Another issue at the owners meetings will be discussion of who will be the next commissioner and it seems that the political arena is getting much of the rumor-mongering. Aside from the Bush Administration's Condoleeza Rice being mentioned, the name of former President Bill Clinton has also surfaced as a possible candidate. It's turning more into Decision '06 than a hunt for a new commish.

* Vikings free agent linebacker Raonall Smith is in Green Bay this weekend to talk contract with the Packers.

* Word out of St. Louis is that the Rams are expecting Corey Chavous to be the leader of their defense. Nobody has ever questioned Chavous' football knowledge, but for an outsider to be asked to be the face of the defense and a leader in the locker room is a lot to expect from someone new to the team. But knowing Scott Linehan better than most is a step in the right direction.
:lmao:

I think Clinton would make a great commissioner, unfortunately, it wouldn't be good looking women that he would bring with him.

there are already odds on this - roger goodell (the NFL COO) is the odds on favorite.

I want Colin Powell! A true Warrior! Football ain't a girls game! lol

Seriously, I feel Tags has done such a magnificent job they should hand it to his top assistant! Keep it in good hands and with someone that learned from the best!

:goodposting: tags has been one of the best commishes in any sport, hands down. between him and rozelle, the NFL has been extremely lucky.

I didn't vote for President Clinton either time but I've zero doubt he'd be a fantastic NFL Commish. Off the charts good.

Don't know about that...you volunteers didn't win many fans in his admin. I could see an extra road game in NY in your future.

I'd like to see Bill Clinton as a commissioner. Not just as a spectacle, but I think he'd really do a great job.

Honestly, I wouldn't want Rice or Clinton to be the next commissioner. They both might have the ability to do the job great, but they both also bring their past with them to the job. Everybody has an opinion on them (good or bad) and that could interfere with their ability to negotiate with owners/NFLPA/networks and "sell" the NFL to the public, and how mistakes made by them are handled.

Get the most qualified "insider" I say.
