New England @ Seattle Week 6 (1 Viewer)

We've just gone three months here in the Puget Sound area with no measurable rain. Sure, it rains here all the time... Not so much.

Anyway, weather forecasts are predicting HEAVY rain. This is an oddity. We usually don't get anything more than light showers. Heavy rain all at once it rare here.

LINK to forecast.

... HEAVY RAIN POSSIBLE ACROSS WESTERN WASHINGTON THIS WEEKEND THROUGH EARLY NEXT WEEK...

A PATTERN CHANGE WILL BRING WET WEATHER BACK TO WESTERN WASHINGTON FRIDAY THROUGH THE WEEKEND AFTER A PROLONGED DRY SPELL. WEAK WEATHER SYSTEMS WILL AFFECT THE AREA ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY WITH WIDESPREAD MEASURABLE RAINFALL EXPECTED. A STRONGER SYSTEM WILL THEN STEER HEAVY RAIN INTO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST LATE SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH POSSIBLY AS LATE AS MONDAY NIGHT.

IF THE FORECAST MODELS ARE CORRECT... THIS WILL BE THE FIRST SIGNIFICANT STORM OF THE SEASON. SOME FORECAST MODELS SHOW SEVERAL INCHES OF RAIN IN THE MOUNTAINS WITH SHARP RISES EXPECTED ON THE RIVERS. THE OLYMPICS MAY SEE 4 TO 8 INCHES OF RAIN THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT... WITH 2 TO 5 INCHES POSSIBLE IN THE CASCADES. AS FOR THE LOWLANDS... THE COAST MAY SEE 1 TO 4 INCHES... WITH 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN IN THE INTERIOR.

BREEZY TO WINDY CONDITIONS ARE ALSO FORECAST OVER THIS PERIOD. THE COAST AND NORTH INTERIOR ARE LIKELY TO BE THE WINDIEST LOCATIONS.

MODELS HAVE NOT PINNED DOWN THE EXACT STORM TRACK SO THERE ARE SOME UNCERTAINTIES IN THE TIMING AND IMPACTS OF THIS SYSTEM. MONITOR FORECASTS FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FOR THE LATEST UPDATES.
Just an FYI. Worth monitoring. We rarely get this sort of rain dump in a short amount of time.

Wake me when they start forecasting heavy winds...until then I'm good.

Good thing Brady is the best bad weather QB in like the last 600 years. #bump ;)
I think he's mostly been great in the snow though.... where it actually unlike some people think, is an advantage to the offense as running backwards on snow and reacting quickly is very difficult. Rain I don't think gives brady the same advantage as rain pretty much just makes the ball harder to catch and affects the trajectory of the ball

In the spirit of good sportsmanship, I am going to advise my opponent of this weather report and suggest that he bench Brady this week.

1-2 inches over a few days? I'm confused. In a couple hours that's a lot.
Seattle averages about 37 inches of rain in a year. Getting an inch in one day is a lot here. There's potential for more or some short periods of intense rain. There might also be next to none on Sunday afternoon. It was enough of a chance for the national weather service to issue a warning.

Makes the Pats D/ST that much better of a play this week. Brady's been pretty solid in bad weather conditions in the past.

:goodposting: gonna be dumping rain

Right, see this goes the other way too. This is the Hawks offense that just had trouble in Carolina. The Pats offense is clicking and their defense can profit from the rain as well. I think the Pats offense will get some extra opportunities.

I'm hardly a weatherman, but a couple inches over a couple days is not much rain in terms of average per hour. Now, if it all hits in a two hour span when the game is played, yeah, there's an issue. But otherwise, I don't see this as affecting the game in a meaningful way, especially without wind. If anything, it's a slicker turf, advantage offense.

LINK to latest 5 day forecast.

Sunday is showing the highest wind levels at 19mph when compared to the other days. And every day from now until Tuesday is showing 70% chance of rain with the heaviest portions coming between Saturday night to Monday morning.

For the record, I have no idea how I expect weather to affect this game. Perhaps not a problem for either team. I guess I would expect it to help the team that wants to make it a slug-fest (Seattle), but I keep seeing people mention that Brady is a good poor weather QB. I don't know. Regardless, I will update again Sunday morning at some point. I'm about 80 miles north of Seattle and we generally have very similar weather.

Mt. Vernon weather is worse than Seattle imo.

I don't disagree. The Skagit Valley is a bit harsh at times. I'm south side of Bellingham.

We got a lot of rain last night up here in Bellingham. Hopefully the worst of it has passed.
It rained a little down here in Seattle, but not too much--just the normal "not quite rain, not quite mist" stuff. It looks a litte more windy than normal but nothing crazy yet. Disclosure: I'm about 7 miles North of the stadium, so I don't know if the weather is significantly different down there.

As those that live in the Puget Sound area know, and as some have posted before, the one constant about the weather here is that it is inconstant. This area, being a mixture of sharp elevation changes with both coastal, lake and mountain terrain, creates variable microclimates that vary greatly through a day, even from neighborhood to neighborhood.

Right now in the Eastside of Seattle, it's dead calm and no rain, under heavy overcast skies. The hourly weather report right now shows scattered rain in through the morning, with no rain through the first few hours of the game until around 3. Winds are variable from the SSW between 14-16 mph through game time, which can affect those kicking against it to the south goalposts, but not exactly gale force winds.

I would expect the weather to not overly disrupt the game, with some windy and rainy periods throughout. In this kind of Seattle weather, would simply start your players as you normally would.

Im prepared to be wrong, but im thinking 38-9 Pats.
The Patriots didn't put up 38 points against the Titans. It's strange to me that people still think this is the 2008 Seattle defense.I'll go the other way and say the Patriots offense doesn't score more than 17 points, which unfortunately might be enough to win.

Who said anything about the Seattle's defense, I think they have a top 5 defense. I also think it doesn't matter how good your defense is if you can't get to Brady. Especially when they have one of if not the worst offense not named the Jets. The Pats on the other hand, have a middle of the road defense that are great at exploiting terrible offenses to give Brady even more chances.

Well, we're going to simply disagree on too much so I'm fine with leaving it at this. One of us is certainly going to be wrong though.

Seattle might be the most over rated team in the NFL. The offense hasn't put up more than 20 points in any game (DST scored vs Dallas) and they are 3-2 thanks to replacement refs. This should be a blood bath by New England.

That's ok, the defense hasn't given up more than 19. Keep #####ing about the refs screwing up the last play of a poorly reffed game as if GB didn't get help on bad calls on their scoring drive either. As soon as the offense clicks (which it started to around week 6 last year), this team will be scary.

Being that the Patriots are 3-2 it might easily be said that they are overrated as well.

The Patriots have lost just as many games this year as the Packers(2) due to poor officiating. In the Cardinals game they had two Tds taken off the board for ghost calls.

The Ravens made* a field goal that was to the right of the post but above the post - It was called made, and since it was above the post it was not reviewable. Net result a loss for Patriots and a huge fine for Belichick trying to ask the ref if they were gonna review that bs.

From the LINK above:

Widespread showers and thunderstorms developing around noon. Cloudy with temperatures steady near 63F. Winds SSW at 15 to 20 mph.

http://www.weather.com/weather/map/interactive/Seattle+WA+USWA0395:1:USThis link really confirms wth STC is saying here. Downtown currently looks clear, but its completely surrounded at the moment on all sides by showers.

What an impressive W for Seattle, congrats. This is a very good team. After the 1st half it looked like NE would roll over the Sea D. The 2nd half adjustments were amazing. I really love this Seattle D. They have skill and attitude. Evidence of attitude here.

Love that Sherman calling out Brady after the game.
