I for one welcome our new drone overlords. What does that leave then?NEW: Pentagon denies earlier reporting of an Iranian “mothership” launching drones off the east coast, says they don’t know where the drones are coming from.
“At this time, we have no evidence that these activities are coming from a foreign entity or the work of an adversary.”
“These are not US military drones. Again, this is being investigated by law, local law enforcement. What our initial assessment here is that these are not drones or activities coming from a foreign entity or adversary.”

FRONT yard? How big is your front yard?
About 4 acres.
But I was referring to my massive dong.

What's the other option for the DoD? "Dear enemies, we are definitely testing out some new top secret stuff that we are going to use on you in the future. Good luck with that."The best explanation I've heard so far is these are defense contractors deploying to test out design, function over a large urban area. The DoD was pretty specific to say what these drones aren't yesterday:
That leaves the simple answer, defense contractors acting with the full knowledge of the US military to test their wares over a large urban area. Lets them see how the drones & mothership perform AND lets them see how the populace reacts. Occam's Razor
- They aren't a foreign entity (Iran)
- They aren't US military
- They aren't alien (maybe)
- No one is doing anything about them. if they were a threat, we would be shooting them down and threatening whoever sent them
That sounds about rightThe best explanation I've heard so far is these are defense contractors deploying to test out design, function over a large urban area. The DoD was pretty specific to say what these drones aren't yesterday:

I think that overall makes sense, but only thing that I don’t really get is how much the lights are on on the drones. Would think folks in the defense industry would be less visible about it. Theyve been hovering in my area for weeks - I cant imagine our military would allow a foreign country to do this for weeks so hoping its DoD/military but why keep doing it at this point?
In all seriousness, I think this is the best argument that it really IS US military, and that they are doing an actual thing. If it were just testing, they'd shut it down. If it weren't us, they'd be taking very decisive action.Possible - but it just keeps continuing. I would put the probability of a near-term significant war directly involving the United States at something like 25% or so, which is much higher than I would like. In other words, I do not actually think that such a war is coming, but I am very worried about the possibility. Part of my uncertainty and, frankly, unease stems from the fact that the world is different than it has been at any time in my life, or even at any time since WWII. I'm used to the cold war. I had to adjust to the period of US hegemony that followed that, and obviously the US no longer even resembles a hegemon. We already have a major conflict on Europe's back door, and a bunch of conflicts in the Middle East. (Regional war in the Arab world? Well now I've seen it all!) How much longer until China makes a move on Taiwan, or until North Korea makes a move on the South?Mystery Drones over New Jersey

I’m not being flip about this. I told my parents I thought a significant war was coming based on the four months I spent on Twitter and they looked at me like I was nuts. I’ve been worried about WWIII since we assassinated the Iranian National Guard leader back in 2017 or 2018 (?). It’s documented on this very board. So I’m just getting it out there.
But in the spirit of your comment, here you go. This is the guy I was going to use for MAD 31 #4 (#3?)

If we are to believe the Pentagon yesterday it’s not US military so that leaves a black budget project with the CIA & Lockheed Martin etc. I’d rather it be official US militaryIn all seriousness, I think this is the best argument that it really IS US military, and that they are doing an actual thing. You nailed it.
I frequently see people with Ukrainian flags in their bio who seem perfectly happy to get us all nuked as long as Ukraine doesn't lose any territory.
The Tik-tac sightings in the early 2000’s with Commander David Fravor off the coast of San Diego happened daily for weeks. 20 yrs later, still no answers.it’s wild this has been going on for weeks and all we get is. It is the US military, it's just them having plausible deniability by saying it isn't them. They can't really say, "it isn't us because we didn't put a decal on it but we instructed our defense contracts to do it and we'd cover for them." Cause that's kinda what they said yesterday without saying it.In all seriousness, I think this is the best argument that it really IS US military, and that they are doing an actual thing. We "know" that China is using social media to stir unrest in the US. We know that Iran is messing with us. Those Hamas-supporting students probably didn't buy those tents themselves. If I were China, and I wanted to destabilize the US prior to embarking upon you-know-what, I would do pretty much exactly what we all think China is doing. This is what the US did to other countries for all those decades. We've seen this playbook, because it's ours.
I frequently see people with Ukrainian flags in their bio who seem perfectly happy to get us all nuked as long as Ukraine doesn't lose any territory. I don't understand that, but there are a lot of people out there who confuse "being on the right side" with having a missile defense system. Those two things are not substitutes.
I don't have a great model for how international relations works in a world like this. I know enough history to know that this is not actually the situation that countries found themselves in prior to WWI, but it kind of feels like that. We have several proxy wars going on at the moment between the US/EU and Russia/China/NK/Iran. I don't know what it takes to push one of those from "proxy war" to "war," and I would prefer not to find out.
i doubt they will blow up and nuclear plant if they came out the ocean.
