New Orleans Saints Vs Pittsburgh Steelers in the Dome (1 Viewer)

I really have tried to get away from ref complaining/ blaming outcomes of games on ref.  but #######it that PI on call on Haden is a backbreaker.

I'm salty.

And yes, I know -- they could have still came back.  but they didn't.  And here we are now, having to cheer for the Browns,
I wasn’t happy with the officiating but the Steelers have burnt themselves so much this year.  They’re not a playoff worthy team.

If that's the end of the road for the Steelers then congratulations to their fans for winning your superbowl last week.  They might not make the playoffs but they did a good job playing spoiler for the Patriots knocking them out of the 1 seed. And they beat the Browns once too. All in all a good season under the circumstances. There aren't many teams that can handle distractions and lose top talent and still win.

Not going to get into the mental exercise of what determines a playoff worthy team, but they've hung tough with the best teams in the NFL all year long.  They have the talent to make any game exciting.

It's going to be a shame to see that story not playout in postseason, if this is really the end of the playoff dream this year.

About a 9 on the passive-aggressive scale

The season was defined by that 3 week stretch (which included a loss against Oakland).  Losing to Oakland when you’re fighting for your playoff lives indicates to me that they’re not playoff worthy.  But that’s just my opinion.

And losng to the dynamic duo of Vance Joseph and case keenum

And tomlin will be back next year, and its wash, rinse  repeat
I'm sure this won't be worth me asking.  But I'll ask anyway:

hypothetically, you're given the freedom to fire Tomlin tomorrow with the stipulation that you have to pick his replacement.  Who is it?

I am sorry, but coming back with that question does not work. Sometimes, it is just time for a coach to go, even if the replacement isn't as accomplished or someone in-waiting.   This Steeler team continues to underachieve under Tomlin.  At some point, will he be held accountable?

Oh I didn't realize it mattered what quarter you got prison raped in. Hey it was 1st quarter who cares what they call early in the game. Are you an nfl official?
Of course it matters when. Things that happen early in a game are generally less impactful than things that happen later in the games.

Steelers had a four-point lead and the ball with sub-5 minutes to go in the fourth quarter. What more did they need?

Not a Steelers fan but this is the truth. Happens all the time. Organization just needs a change. Same thing happened with the Eagles and Reid. Obviously a great coach, but losing in the playoffs over and over I guess just got old.

Maybe was needed with Reid.  Isn't needed with Tomlin.

I actually did miss that. Didn’t see that drive. But wasn’t that the 1st quarter?

OK, finally just saw a replay of that PI call. The ref was behind Haden -- I believe the ref thought he saw a jersey yank (wasn't there), and definitely saw Haden's left hand push lightly into Kamara's back. The latter alone wouldn't typically be enough for PI if viewed from the side ... but from the ref's rear vantage point, he didn't get an accurate read on how hard Haden's left hand contacted Kamara's back.

I agree the PI call on Haden was weak. I will never agree that call was the make-or-break moment in the game.

Forget about that game yesterday but I think one of the most frustrating parts of the game right now is that the refs appear to err on the side of calling penalties.  It’s happening to every team and it’s hurting the game.

Can anyone recall a season where so many games have been decided by questionable/outright terrible calls? They happen every year or course. But this year, we just seem to be inundated with these situations. To hell with QBs, CBs should be the highest paid players in the league given what they've been forced to contend with from the officials.

Replay corrected it, but the worst call in real time was the official not giving Thomas the TD.  The official is literally standing right there! How does he not see Thomas secure the ball when the ball is over the goal line?

I thought the call on the field was reasonable in real time.  Thomas was coming out of the EZ which isn't a typical looking play so I could see how the ref wasn't sure that he secured it before coming all the way out.

Agreed.  That was definitely close. Not sure how that same official missed one of the most blatant push offs.
