News, Notes and Inactives (1 Viewer)

I'll post any and all important news and notes as I find them. Inactives will be added as they come in this morning.

News and Notes

Gaines Adams was traded to the Bears late this week. The entire Buc line gets more snaps in his absence, with Greg White being the biggest beneficiary in playing time. Adams is reportedly expected to be inactive for Chicago this week.

Aaron Smith is out for the year with a shoulder injury.

The Lions seem to be suggesting that Ernie Sims will start over DeAndre Levy at WLB this week. Sims was limited, but is listed probable.

Nick Barnett is officially back in an every-down role now. More importantly, Brandon Chillar stole base defensive snaps as well as all the nickel snaps from AJ Hawk in W4. Atari Bigby is also back for the Packers.

Derrick Johnson is not on the injury report, but he seems to be going backwards again. He didn’t take a defensive snap last week.

Akeem Jordan is now out of the Eagle nickel packages. Surprisingly, it’s Tracy White or a dime look in Philly over the past two weeks.

Kirk Morrison should again be an every-down backer with Ricky Brown likely to miss a few weeks with an ankle injury. Morrison is on the injury report with a knee injury but practiced fully all week.

William Hayes was moved into the starting lineup in Tennessee last week and will stay there ahead of Jevon Kearse. Hayes will rotate with David Ball.

Jerod Mayo is back for New England this week in an every-down role. Junior Seau likely steals base defensive snaps from Gary Guyton.

The Chargers cut Clinton Hart this week. We’ll probably see a rotation of Steve Gregory and Kevin Ellison for now.

Injuries and Speculation

Justin Durant is questionable with the hip injury that kept him out last week. He was limited all week and is a game-time decision.

Paul Posluszny returns this week in Buffalo, as does Donte Whitner. Bryan Scott remains out at safety. Keith Ellison didn’t finish practice Thursday, then missed practice Friday with a knee problem. He’s listed questionable. Ellison said he’d be all right, but he seems unlikely to go. We may get our first look at Nic Harris this week finally at SLB with Palmer on the weak side according to the beat writers. I’m unable to find an alignment expectation for Whitner, but the best guess is Whitner SS/Byrd FS. I’ll post more details if we get a pregame release on the Buffalo starting lineup this morning.

Troy Polamalu practiced all week and will play.

Hunter Hillenmeyer is very unlikely to play this week after not practicing all week, putting Nick Roach back in an every-down MLB role.

Eric Barton and D’Qwell Jackson are both questionable after being limited all week. Both seem likely to play.

Mario Williams, DeMeco Ryans, and Zach Diles are all listed probable with injuries that cost them most of practice last week. Brian Cushing is questionable with a foot injury.

Stephen Cooper has yet to practice this week, but he says he’s absolutely playing Monday night.

Roy Williams was added to the injury report as questionable on Friday with the forearm problem that has bugged him all year. Chinedum Ndukwe should see a lot of playing time again this week.

Patrick Kerney looks likely to return this week (listed probable with groin injury, full participation Thur/Fri). He’ll probably be brought back slowly, but the four man DE rotation returns this week.

Nick Harper is out for a few weeks with an arm injury. Cortland Finnegan didn’t practice all week either. Expect to see plenty of Keith Bulluck covering the slot (meaning Stephen Tulloch could get an every-down backer role again).

Bryant McFadden was limited all week with an ankle injury.

Shaun Ellis was limited Friday after not practicing earlier in the week and is questionable.

Even if Durant is active today, he seems very unlikely to play.

Go ahead and scratch safety Sean Considine, linebacker Justin Durant, cornerback Scott Starks, and offensive lineman Maurice Williams out of today’s action.

All are actually healthy enough to play today against St. Louis, but Jags coach Jack Del Rio said the club would like to hold out them out because they’d only “come out worse” by participating. Del Rio said the only way you’ll see Considine, Durant, Starks or Williams today is if the club finds itself in some type of emergency situation due to other injuries.
Expect Durant to return after the bye.

Jene thanx as always two more players for ya if ya get a chance plz

EJ Henderson was a cause for concern last wk (100 % start today?)

Kamerion Wimbley (shoulder) now listed questionable w illness (would ya start him if active?)

btw I read Finnegan had been jogging (limited) so I thought that was a good sign (didnt think he would be jogging if it was a legit hamstring DOH) that was my thoughts for the last game he missed

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/injuries (if ya look by Finnegan's name it says under fantasy news out for wk 6 @ NE)

Kam Wimbley was downgraded to questionable due to illness. I'm not sure if someone could roll with him either.

Henderson isn't on the injury report and practiced fully all week. He's got a top five matchup and a huge expectation. Wimbley is a game-time decision now, if he's active, I'd drop his expectation only slightly.

Chiefs.com Josh Looney reporting via Twitter that Jarrad Page, who was questionable with a shoulder injury, is inactive. Will independently confirm when I can.

Kamerion Wimbley inactive today. Jason Trusnik in his place.

Eric Barton and D'Qwell Jackson both active and starting.

NFL.com has Quincy Black inactive today but that appears to be incorrect. Pewter Report not listing him and he wasn't on the injury report. Not a big issue, but I'll try to confirm either way.

Kyle Moore inactive according to both sources. A little surprising and likely means that Wilkerson, Crowder and White all get more snaps this week.

Lions.com listing DeAndre Levy over Ernie Sims at OLB (Peterson is starting at the other OLB). Avril and McBride at end and Manuel at SS.

Anything on DeWayne White?
White is inactive. Avril and McBride are starting at end.
Justin Durant officially inactive today. Brian Iwuh announced as starting in his place.
Didn't Allen play for him last week?
Jaguars announced Iwuh as the starter. Allen may have been in the lineup for Ingram last week. IIRC, Iwuh was aligning to the strong side last week, Allen to the weak side (which is usually Durant's role). Iwuh played every down, Allen did not. It's confusing, but Ingram isn't on the injury report, so I'm guessing that he may play today.Proceed with caution if you're plugging a Jaguar backer in your lineup here.

John Niyo (DetNews) now confirming Levy over Sims. Also, it's Phillip Buchanon and Will James at corner, Anthony Henry to the bench.
