Winner?

Sucks, because Dallas did play a great game and in their own right deserved to win... but this win will need an asterisk to notate the terrible officiating at the end.
Lol. Some of you are ridiculous. There will be no asterisk. There was no guarantee that Detroit would have scored on that drive anyway. That call wasn't reversing a scoring play. Bad calls are made all the time. Detroit could have overcame and they didn't. Dolphins fan here just to set the record straight.

Every week refs make a call and then just change it a minute or so later.....wait, that never happens.
Yeah, you don't see a call like that get changed unless the ball was deflected. Terrible, poor Lions.
This was NBA type of awful. I have NEVER seen that happen. Especially in a playoff game.
Especially since it could have drawn 2 flags on the D.
I still can't believe that actually happened. He actually called the penalty then minutes later changes it. I seriously don't believe I have ever seen that before.
Well it was after Dez ran onto the field to tell him he needed to change it. That took some time.

Detroit got absolutely hosed. The good news is even with the refs help I don't see Dallas good enough to get to the SB. That picked up PI flag was one of the worst calls in playoff history. If it was never thrown in the first place it would be bad enough but for a ref to pick up the flag on a blatant penalty :lmao: . Pathetic.

One constant in all of these threads this postseason so far?

The losing team complaining about "How awful the officiating was in this game" and how "The NFL is ruining their product with this crap" and lets not forget "I'm done watching this stupid game".

The officiating was just as bad as it's always been, the NFL isn't ruining their product it's stronger than ever, and no you're not... we'll see you next season.

That wasn't a bad call. The correct call was made and announced. Then changed mysteriously with no explanation. I've never seen it before.

hey brohans strahan is calling out the refs right now about it so at least fox is on it take that to the bank

Yeah it was awful but they could have still went for it on 4th down and didn't.
Ton of stuff could have happened. EVERYONE is saying they never seen anything like this before. The announcers even after the game are going into it now. He actually called the penalty then changed it. That's crazy.

No, the game was clearly fixed.

You've never seen a flag picked up for a penalty that should been made? You need to watch some more football.

I won't watch another nfl game. I'm done with this crap. It'll be nice to have my Sundays freed up in the fall/winter
Holy #### :lmao: :lmao:
I'm going to call BS. He will be back next week.
Not a chance.

Just watched the sports enter highlights and they glossed over the key play of the game like it never happened.
Seriously? You're a Lions fan, you've literally never known what winning feels like... but THIS is really the final straw for you? Get over it man. Both teams played 60 minutes of football, the Lions had every opportunity to make it so the refs couldn't impact the game if they wanted to, but instead Caldwell rolled over and went conservative as if there wasn't another half of football to play. The refs didn't steal this game from Detroit, Detroit stole the win from themselves.

NFL losing a lot of fans in this thread. Wonder if they'll recover.
I'll watch no matter what but that doesn't mean it wasn't an obvious homer call. Hell, I still watch the NBA and occasionally boxing but never saw something as blatant in the NFL before.
This was almost as bad as the Pitt/Sea SB, which is still the worst one I've seen as far as bad calls that clearly influenced an outcome.

Fellas, there is one team from each division remaining. The last time two teams from the same division played for the Superbowl was last year, Seattle over San Francisco.

Obviously Detroit got completely screwed on this one.

That said, Caldwell deserves to be flayed for not going for it on 4th and 1. There is no question in my mind that the math strongly favors that action. Instead of describing going for it as a bold, risky move when it is actually the correct choice, announcers should start referring to punts in those situations as wild, risky, anti-percentage gambles. That would be better truth in advertising.

Part of me is sad to see a game decided by atrocious officiating, But part of me is happy to see the reckless punt-on-fourth-and-short team lose while the conservative go-for-it-on-fourth-and-reasonable team rewarded.

They pick up flags all the time. They don't throw the flag, discuss the penalty, announce the penalty, then reverse their call with no explanation. You've seen it happen? Even Mike Pierra never saw it (so he said on the broadcast).

This thread is awesome. Proud to make my first Shark Pool post of the entire season in here.

HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS!!!!!!!

Flags are picked up ALL THE TIME. The main 'weird' thing about it is that the penalty was announced and then after it was announced it was picked up. Where the refs messed up was not announcing why it was picked up. More than likely a side judge came in late and said he had a better vantage point and didn't see neough to warrant a PI. Which the Head Judge should've announced. Instead they just picked up the flag and ignored it. I'd like to hear the post game conference to see what Caldwell says he was told by the refs.

That was like watching a great movie with a terrible ending because the writers quit with 10 minutes of footage left to shoot. What a huge disappointment. Just goes to show you that the people with the most money aren't always the smartest.

Where is sho nuff......I want to hear him continue to tell us why the refs made the right call by picking up the flag.
