***NFCC - Washington 14-5 at Philadelphia 16-3***(-6, 47.5) 3:00 (3 Viewers)

WAS DT Daron Payne downgraded to OUT for NFCCG.
That's kind of a big deal. Skins missing starting Center on offense and their best DL on defense. You don't just plug in guys for those spots.
Payne is probably addition by subtraction for Washington. He has a big reputation (and contract) but he's been their worst starting DL this season. I don't know if it's a "he got paid" thing, or he's just a poor fit for Quinn's defense, but he's been a liability all year. It'd been better for Philly if he played, especially if he was also playing hurt.

Now Cosmi being out a G (which is who I think you meant, as Biadasz is the C, and he's fine) is a big deal as he's clearly their best OL, and the guy who likely matched up with Jalen Carter the most.

Payne was playing 68% of the defensive snaps, the most on their DLine. Plus, his snap counts increased as the year went on. If he was their worst defensive lineman, someone should have told the WAS coaches.

At the very least it hurts their rotation/depth

PFF Grades for WAS DTs
Daron Payne - 53.7
Jer'Zhan Newton - 51.6
Jonathan Allen - 54.6
Sheldon Day - 58.2

PFF Grades for PHI DTs
Jalen Carter - 74.1
Milton Williams - 70.1
Jordan Davis - 66.6
Moro Ojomo - 68.0
Looks like all of Washington’s DTs are mediocre.

They are, although Newton has a lot of upside. Payne and Allen have been declining for years.

Chase Young being gone has made no difference at all for Washington. However, Montez Sweat being gone has hurt them greatly on the d-line. I bet Peters wishes they had that one back.

Ironically, Chase Young was better than any of Washington's DL in New Orleans this season.

Payne was always a weird decision to extend, both because they essentially chose him over Sweat, and because I'd argue he was never better than an average player. He was a good run defender, then had 1 big sack year in 2022, where he was a liability against the run, and its like he's been chasing that big sack year since, where now he's not a good run defender or pass rusher.

Commanders are a scrappy, dangerous team, but Eagles should roll. I'm calling it 35-20. BUT...Commanders have a little better then a punchers chance if they can get a key turnover or two and keep it close. Daniels has ice in his veins and there will be a ton of butt puckering in Philly if Washington stays within a score into the fourth quarter. I just don't think it likely Philly wins this close.

I’m tired of hearing how great Jayden Daniels is and conversely how bad Jalen Hurts is. This defense is so much better than Detroit. They should do what they alway do and hold Washington to around 20 points.

I see this as a big time bounce back game for Jalen and the passing attack. Expect at least one deep bomb TD to AJ and of course Saquon to continue doing Saquon things.

After the defensive coordinator for Washington laid down the veiled threat on Jalen if he runs I expect Jalen Carter to literally destroy Daniels today. Seeing a 4-5 sack performance from the rhino.

CJGJ takes one to the house as well.

Eagles jump out early and never look back.

Birds in the bowl - 38-23

FLY EAGLES FLY!!!!!!!!!!

Love this. As my son would say, never seen anyone glazed as much as Daniels has been this week. I’m sure the whole Eagles locker room is sick of it too. Back to reality this week and heads explode as the much hated Hurts delivers when Daniels does not. Go Birds!🦅

I don't have a dog in this fight. Sort of rooting for Washington but I think it comes to an end today. Philly is the better team..

Phil 31-20

I am tired of this rhetoric about how the Eagles somehow have an anemic passing game. It leads me to conclude that these football fans saying this really do not know football and are just repeating nonsense.

The entire offensive philosophy has changed this season. In the 2 years prior, the passing game led the way. There was a shootout in SBLVII with Mahomes and then last year the passing offense led us to a nice mid-season W/L record until it all came crumbling down.

Howie goes out and gets Barkley to help relieve the pressure on Hurts, literally. Then, this year, the Eagles proudly began by introducing their new stud workhorse RB to every team on their schedule. Is this not what everyone wanted to see? What did you think would happen to the passing game the more successful the running game got. Duh, it would be used less because it was required less.

Folks really seem to have their cheeks in a clamp. Relax. Just relax.

If Barkley studs out today, this offense may appear anemic once again. Appearances can be so very deceiving.

I wouldn't call it anemic, I'd call it efficient.

Not to mention that for the last 25+ years of watching Eagles football the most common refrain by far I’ve heard from any barstool on Sunday has been, “RUN THE DAMN FOOTBALL!” Well….

They were an atypical AJ drop and a weird offsides from the half yard line away from dropping 42 on the Rams last week in those garbage conditions. Anemic is not what I’d call this offense.

I wonder what the Detroit Lions fans think about their team throwing the ball 40 times last week. When you're facing the 30th ranked rush defense, throwing the ball 40 times doesn't make sense.

The next play after the AJ drop was the Goedert pass that had them on the 3 yards but Becton was ineligible downfield.

Outside of Jayden going superman, which is entirely possible, I don't see how this game is close. Maybe for a half. Eagles are better on both lines (Washington isn't healthy either), can beat them in any way on O, and are at their best where they are at their worst, the run. And if Washington doesn't convert their 4th downs this could get ugly.

I'm taking the -6, other PHI props, maybe a little Ekeler, and am considering a sprinkle on a big low probability parlay.

Hurts to play with a knee brace?

😬
He’s fine
Faking it?
I don’t remember the exact play but he rolled out it something after he twisted it and looked fine
This will be the factor of the game. If Jalen is generally healthy, can run, and the defense has to respect that, the Eagles should smash. If Washington crashes on Saquon early and hurts doesn’t take off it’ll be a much closer game. IMO.

im tired of the daniels lovefest. About to get destroyed. We aint detroit or tb
Yep. Nolan Smith and Jalen Carter are going to eat him up today. The “best rookie to ever play the game” is gonna come crashing back to earth this afternoon.
This will be a fun one to quote later if it ages poorly.
Sure. And monkeys might fly out of my butt.
Is this where then niners and cowboys fans come with their sour grapes?😭

Hopefully our boys come to play today, been a fun season. Need the guys playing through injury to be close to themselves.

McLain tweeting that while they are going to test Jurgens’ back in warmups, they are preparing for Dickerson to slide over and Steen to be the RG

Yeah, unfortunately fot my rooting interests I feel like the Eagles will win easy. My parlays will reflect that so I’m hoping to make some money

Shefter just reported, no limitations on Hurts today.

If true, smash time.

Well, see....in football, when your down double digits in the second half and can't stop the other team's offense from scoring, you have to resort to the pass. 1) it's a quicker way to score and B) incomplete passes stop the clock and receivers can get out of bounds easier than a RB.

You guys can follow me here for more football insight.
