All good points, but the draft isn't the interesting part. The results are. That's what will fuel the analysis and get you through the dead period. Make a statement and turn off the draft. Follow it with a smartphone app or something. Kill the ratings. Give the NFL a taste of what it's like to disturb the golden goose. Save the cheerleader, save the world. Give peter the keys, save the girl. How often do trades for players on draft day happen anyway? Maybe 2 or 3 a draft? If I wasn't interested in watching the draft, I don't think that would be the main reason why. I'm almost looking forward to it more because I have been deprived of NFL all offseason and the draft is all I have now.
It was extremely rare for a player to be traded for picks right before or during the draft anyway.I for one have no interest in watching it this year. I usually love the draft but it holds zero interest for me if trades can't be made for players. Just curious as to how many others won't be watching this year that have in the past.
I'd say its even less than that, and generally it was marginal players involved. When was the last time anyone can remember a player being traded for a pick during the draft. The Jets sent some marginal players to the Browns for the Sanchez pick, but I'm hard pressed to think of others. It's almost always the pick for more picks. How often do trades for players on draft day happen anyway? Are any of you Nielsen families? Whether I watch the draft or not isn't going affect the ratings. All good points, but the draft isn't the interesting part. The results are. Eagles got Lorenzo Booker in 08 and Ellis Hobbs in 09 for picks on draft day...I'd say its even less than that, and generally it was marginal players involved. When was the last time anyone can remember a player being traded for a pick during the draft. It's all we got till something better comes along. :(And of couse I will be watching. It sill rules.
I truly have no interest this year. Usually the build up to the draft makes it a monumental event for me each spring. Its like a staple in my household. This year I really could care less. Flyers playoffs and Phillies baseball help pass the time but I usually would find time for the draft over those in past years. Just last year, my buddies and I had the draft on and would switch back to the Flyers v Devils playoff game occasionally in between picks. Thats how much I usually love the draft. This year its like they sucked the life from me. I know its not making any ratings difference. That wasn't the point. I was just curious if others felt the blah I feel when it comes to the draft this year.I can't even wrap my head around the idea of a football fan intentionally NOT watching the draft. I mean, for what? Because you're angry that they weren't able to easily divvy up about a gazillion dollars amongst themselves without having a disagreement? Honestly, the people who are saying the lockout makes them want to skip watching the draft altogether are the same people who would be whining the loudest if it'd been postponed or cancelled and they couldn't watch it at all.
voted yes but only because "hell yes" was not an option..........
Jason Campbell was dealt on draft day last year.Eagles got Lorenzo Booker in 08 and Ellis Hobbs in 09 for picks on draft day...I'd say its even less than that, and generally it was marginal players involved. When was the last time anyone can remember a player being traded for a pick during the draft. I'll bounce between ESPN and NFLN, mostly on NFLN because I ***hate*** it when ESPN shows the player on his cell phone right before he's picked and you KNOW he's being told he's about to be picked.I like the anticipation of the naming of the pick.Watching it on NFLN because I can't watch Chris Berman.
Never underestimate the joys of stump grinding.I loved the draft when it was on Saturday. We had a party that lasted to whole day. Now it is broke up between 3 days it is a drag. This Saturday I have rented a stump grinder.![]()
