We can agree to disagree but I can't dismiss a RB who performed just as well as Chubba and I sure can't see him not eating into his role.
I disagree he performed just as well.
You can look up the stats just like me.
Chubba, 1,195 yards rushing at 4.8 yards per carry. 43 receptions for 171 yards. 1,366 yards on 293 touches.
Rico, 1,079 yards rushing at 4.6 yards per carry, 39 receptions for 249 yards. 1,328 yards on 274 touches.
Chubba just scored a lot more TD's so if you want to include that fine but that's usually more a reflection of opportunity and good fortune.
I thought Dallas had a better OL & at times Rico came off the field for the ghost of Zeke Elliott.
I guess time will tell - the team certainly has more financial commitment to Chuba. I don’t expect RBBC, but I’ve been wrong before.
The funny thing about Chuba is that every year people come up with a reason to bury him, and then every year he just goes out and puts up rock solid borderline RB1 stats.
Every year?
Past two years. Chuba was supposed to be displaced by Miles Sanders but won the job rather quickly, all things considered (guaranteed money and duration of contract for Sanders) and then he was placeholding for Brooks and had a banger of a year.
I will admit Rico Dowdle will make one nervous (I didn't like the signing, but then I thought about this RB class and how it could be much worse), but I think Chuba is a better back. We'll see if Chuba is fully healed (and what does this tell us about Chuba's injury, which is something that realllly makes me nervous) and how they both handle the situation. Don't forget that Dowdle was derailed in college and the pros by injuries. He's not giving you a lock-it-down seventeen games.
I mean, if you look at the contracts, you'll see where the team really spent its money. I think Dowdle was 3-4 million dollars plus incentives to get to 6.25 million dollars.
