Whizz was planning on starting Leinart over Warner.
Whizz was part of the FO that signed Kolb to be the franchise.
Whizz is part of the team that has failed to draft a single impactful offensive player outside of (kinda) Steve Breaston.
Whizz and his staff either have a problem recognizing talent or coaching talent. It is one or the other.
Who is making those calls? Seriously asking, I don't know. In most front offices the GM is the decision maker, the coaches have a voice, but the final call is not theirs. Is that how Arizona is set up? or does Whiz have a bigger voice? I just can't imagine his voice is a big one in that room given the tools he's had to work with. A smart QB and strong o line is needed to run that offense and they don't have either.I've always felt Graves caved to the Fitzgerald pressure on the Kolb signing. Also felt like Leinart was being forced on the coaching staff rather than them wanting to play him. Don't know what led them to Floyd last year though, maybe just the general weakness of the OT class. They got a decent RT for cheap, steady improvement throughout the season, so that was a smart move. Maybe this year they can get the QB or LT.
They went over this a bit on the drive home radio show last night. They said Graves is just a GM in the sense that he runs the business side of things. The radio guys suggested that Graves probably doesn't even watch college football. Their take was
Steve Keim is the guy who picks out their potential players, then a vote is taken with Graves' vote serving as the tie-breaker. I can't remember who they said is the 2nd vote. They said Whiz has it written in his contract that he has final say and control over the 53 man roster. What they didn't discuss is how much pull they give to Larry Fitzgerald. This organization pretty much caves to whatever Larry feels is needed most. Two years ago, it was Kevin Kolb. This year, Larry wanted a complimentary WR to take some pressure off of him and they drafted the kid he liked most, Floyd.
