Rex Ryan has taken the Jets to 2 AFC CG in 4 years. besides Parcells 1998 run, that's the closest this team has gotten to the super bowl for decades. Rex isn't gonna get fired.
Mark Sanchez has taken the Jets to 2 AFC CG in 4 years, too. Where does that leave him next year?
Apples and oranges, don't be silly.
actually both will be back next year. So it's a fine comparison to make.

Whizz was planning on starting Leinart over Warner.

Whizz was part of the FO that signed Kolb to be the franchise.

Whizz is part of the team that has failed to draft a single impactful offensive player outside of (kinda) Steve Breaston.

Whizz and his staff either have a problem recognizing talent or coaching talent. It is one or the other.
Who is making those calls? Seriously asking, I don't know. In most front offices the GM is the decision maker, the coaches have a voice, but the final call is not theirs. Is that how Arizona is set up? or does Whiz have a bigger voice? I just can't imagine his voice is a big one in that room given the tools he's had to work with. A smart QB and strong o line is needed to run that offense and they don't have either.I've always felt Graves caved to the Fitzgerald pressure on the Kolb signing. Also felt like Leinart was being forced on the coaching staff rather than them wanting to play him. Don't know what led them to Floyd last year though, maybe just the general weakness of the OT class. They got a decent RT for cheap, steady improvement throughout the season, so that was a smart move. Maybe this year they can get the QB or LT.
They went over this a bit on the drive home radio show last night. They said Graves is just a GM in the sense that he runs the business side of things. The radio guys suggested that Graves probably doesn't even watch college football. Their take was Steve Keim is the guy who picks out their potential players, then a vote is taken with Graves' vote serving as the tie-breaker. I can't remember who they said is the 2nd vote. They said Whiz has it written in his contract that he has final say and control over the 53 man roster. What they didn't discuss is how much pull they give to Larry Fitzgerald. This organization pretty much caves to whatever Larry feels is needed most. Two years ago, it was Kevin Kolb. This year, Larry wanted a complimentary WR to take some pressure off of him and they drafted the kid he liked most, Floyd.

As a Jet fan I appreciate the run Rex had with the team a few years ago....but its time to go. Since the last AFCCG Rex has regressed as a HC:
the steelers gave bill cowher 10+ years. I wonder how long he'd last in NY.i've seen the Jets fire people every year for decades it seems, firing coaches doesn't seem to make things better. Rex is the best coach they've had since Parcells, firing him for who (Reid? Chip Kelly?) wouldn't be an upgrade.
Eagles fans had to hear for years how Reid needed a minimum of 14 years because that's how long it took Cower. Even though it was becoming obvious years ago Reid's time had come. Tired of Rex already, after 2 recent AFCCG's?? He should have at least 10 more years as the Jets' coach.

Oof, organizational dysfunction from the top down. Whoever comes in to replace these guys needs to first have a chat with Larry and just say trust us in the decision making/tream building and you do what you do. I take back my defending Whiz, if the final say is his then he is every bit part of the problem. Grats to whoever lands him as a coordinator though.

If the Vikes lose out (which they likely will) Leslie Frazier's seat will be on fire.
Lose out! His seat should already be on fire. The problem is Zygi seems to want to stick with whats not working. It doesn't take much to see that Frazier (Though an improvement over Childress) is not the answer.
However, if they win 8 games this year (with Harvin playing in only half the games), he should be coach of the year!
I don't think Frazier gets fired. Hopefully his OC does though. People were kind of quick to forget that the Vikes were only being picked to win ~3 games this year, rebuilding and all that. Peterson's questionable status before the season had a bit to do with that, but they have exceeded expectations this year. I think he will get another year if they are competitive. Unfortunately, that might also mean the Ponder gets another year. But it should be playoffs or out for both of them. And they should bring in a QB that could potentially take the starting job away.By saying that, not sure I'll be happy if Frazier sticks around another year.

Jim Schwartz - Detroit75% of returning. The leadership is lacking in Detroit and it starts from the top.
Agree, but I would put it more like 90%. Owner has an ultra slow firing hand plus they are only one year removed from the playoffs.
Ridiculous if this happens. Detroit stunk for how long and he's brought hope to Detroit. Philly fans are as passionate as they come and maybe they'll have a quick axe for Reid because it matches the fans tone. I totally disagree but only in Philly type deal. There has to be some appreciation for what coaches have done. New coaches bring massive turnover which is very often a bad thing for winning teams. When a team stinks, turnover seems inevitable.Munchak IS the Titans organization. I don't know that he can be fired without people feeling lost and confused and all. The new OC and Moore seem to have been what the team needed. They have a spark and I wouldn't do anything to Munchak if I were Adams. They sorely miss their DL coach who curiously became available recently when the Eagles fired him. I have no doubt Washburn would enjoy coaching a Munchak team. They're friends so they've talked you can bank on that. If he's going to coach there again though is another issue we'll have to wait N see on. Munchak has a ton of respect around the league as a person, player, and Oline coach. He needs to earn it as a head coach, but if he keeps attracting top notch coaches like Moore and maybe Washburn that staff will be great soon enough. Bruce Matthews so "gets it" now as a head coach, you can tell. HOFer turned OL coach, that experiment has finally panned out. If ever there was a coach that needed time it's Munchak right now. Many quality NFL minds incorrectly had Palmer try to lead their O, let's not fire Munchak for making the same mistake.

Leinart was still a top talent supposedly when Whiz took over. Warner was supposedly done. There's like a dozen threads here praising Kolb, ya can't blame him for agreeing with the guys here.Beanie and others were touted here too.I absolutely see organizational problems. I understand the HC will ultimately take the blame and probably should. However, he'll find a job real fast since the majority agreed with his thinking at the time of those moves.

Tebow has to be given a shot. Then we'll see.If Tebow fails, I imagine the Jets will make a change. If Tebow succeeds, we will see NYC marketing at it's finest and the Jets will be raking in the extra revenue. They have to try-he is the closest thing to a golden goose. They have nothing to lose these last few weeks by trying Tebow.
