**NFL in Berlin - Falcons at Colts**(-6.5, 48.5) 9:30am (2 Viewers)

Feels like we haven't had a strong LB draft in a lonnng time.
Couple gems the last few years but yeah; overall it’s been kinda meh. Lot of dudes expected to be studs either hurt or play in a rotation. Like, HOU nuked the value of E.J. Speed & Al Shaair by bringing in the former at the expense of the latter.

Last true impact LB I drafted was Henley, and then the next year LAC drafted another LB. It worked out fine for Henley, but had me sweating for a min.
With the way offense is now, staying home and holding your lane is a massive part of being LB now. They can't just take off at WLB and chase. So much misdeirection. The tackles feel like they are more evenly distributed among the defense. No idea if that is true, but feels that way.

Everyone has at least 5 DBs on the field except for Detroit. LOL. Love it.

I'm not telling you new stuff, but slot corners and safeties are picking up those tackles. And they just rotate. And get hurt tackling. But 6'0", 190 lb. 4.5s are replaceable. Like really. And Fangio stopped Mahomes and it spread and defense is ascendant even with stay-in-lane LBs.

Great fantasy guy and decent football analyst Ben Gretch (I subscribed for a month because he piqued my interest—20 bucks was spendy but worth it) wrote a long article I wanted to post but don't want to violate his sub paywall, which I totally respect so I'd ask first and just won't ask, so . . . anyway, defenses are winning and have been winning and the scores are inflated by starting field position.* I mean, you have no practice time on offense because the only concession labor can get is less practice, and offense needs precision while defense just needs to break ****. And then you have Fangio and the quants meeting together and you've got this style of football.

ChiefD's thread isn't wrong at all. Football looks worse. It's choppier. But it's defense and it's zone defense and soft coverage so it's predicated on failure to claw out ****ty eight-yard gains. Field goals are losses now.

It's changed a bunch and until offenses take the dink and dunk stuff it'll be this way.

* this is me riffing off of his point: Do you think they just switched to the injury-riddled kickoff again because the fans demanded it? Did we? Maybe. Possibly. But why the weird zone rules on kickoffs? Simple. Field position because offense is losing. Badly. And it looks bad. Look at the kickers starting to master it and watch the scores mmdrop like the Beastie Boys in "Hold It, Now Hit It"

Jones had a wide open TD to Downs there. That's sort of the problem with being so heavy on Taylor, is that Jones feels the need to make a play instead of being in a rhythm.

A 33-20 run pass ratio shouldn't happen when you have this much pass catching talent. Despite Taylor having a nice game, this has been a bad gameplan by Indy.

Who is the OC for the Falcons? He should be fired!
How do you forget you have Bijan?
Bijan has 13 touches so far- Taylor has 23
Like just look to the other sideline and do what they are doing- get your stud the ball
Haven't thrown to him barely at all today either, he's been good for an avg of 5 receptions a game this year. :wall:

I'd like to ask Kurt Warner how the Falcons were able to "take advantage" of the Colts turnover on the strip sack, they go 3 n out and punt at midfield
@Joe Bryant this is exactly what I was talking about when you applauded Kurt Warner in the last Euro NFL thread, that's the only place he gets to practice and call games
You don't see CBS or FOX trying to lure him onto the booth on their networks

You don't take advantage by simply creating a turnover, that's just part one of the process
How about Kurt Warner LAY INTO the Falcons for 2 drives at about midfield, BOTH OF THEM are 3 N OUT!

That's why he stinks, he's slowwww to criticize what he's watching and says things that do not relate...he tried to lay into Coach Raheem before halftime, he was WAY OFF
On the JT TD in the 1st Q, he was discussing some private exchange he had with someone that nobody cares about

The play by pay guy today should really be a sommelier, I feel like I'm being read the choices on a red wine menu, Merlot, Cab and Pinot Noir section
But I respect why you love Kurt Warner and his entire story, i love him too. I just don't think he does well in an NFL booth

No worries at all. We'll completely disagree there. He's, of course, not perfect. But I like his work on the broadcast.
