**NFL Kickoff TNF - Baltimore at Kansas City** (-3, 46.5) 8:20...now 8:40 on NBC - AFCC Rematch! (2 Viewers)

Chiefs get Bengals week 2 on Sunday in Arrowhead. Two tough games, but a big advantage against the Bengals having extra rest and being at home.

B2B Super Bowl Champs, Mini Dynasty with 3 trophies now for Mahomes
You want to see where you stand right away if you're the Chiefs
New additions at WR and a looming long term Rice suspension could be on the way

If KC has any needs for '24, they're going to find out those first 2 weeks
I happen to think the Ravens will take opening night but it's also Mid-May, things might change by Sept 5th
Derrick Henry is going to change the entire offense in Baltimore and how they go about bludgeoning teams

And the score is going to be ugly, not a pretty 27-24 game, something much uglier
Shocker type opener after the Ravens watched their Super Bowl ticket taken from them at home last year, lot of motivation
Chiefs also love to rise to these occasions

Tough to beat the defending Super Bowl Champs on the road in Prime Time on opening night.
But The Lions did it last year.
I don't think history will repeat.
I like The Chiefs with or without Taylor in the stadium.
I think they cover.
K.C. - 27
Balt. - 20

The Chiefs were without Kelce and Jones in that game. It might have gone differently if they were there.

And they still would have won if Toney hadn’t so utterly failed at catching the football.

...and if the bear didn't stop to s#!t in the woods he would have caught the rabbit...

Exploit/Avoid

QB Either Lamar Jackson for the Ravens or Mahomes for the Chiefs, you drafted them early so don't get cold feet Week 1.
LJax had 270 pass/50 rush, sacked 4 times, TD and Interception plus a fumble he coughed up. Not exactly his best game, yardage was fine but not a lot of scoring.
The Ravens lost 17-10, Chiefs have a terrific defense that knows when to clamp down and they have B2B Super Bowl trophies to back it up. Spags is like Head Coach- 1B
Mahomes should feel good opening at home but I don't expect him to have one of his bigger stat games. 240/TD in the AFCC last year

RB Henry all night long, we'll see quickly if he's going to make a big difference in this offense. Pacheco for the Chiefs had 68/TD on 24 carries earlier this year in Jan 4 catches as well
Must start for anyone who drafted them but it's hard to see either racking up 100-120+ yards in this one.

WR/TE Rice8/46 and Kelce 11/116/TD, you are going to start both of them this week. Zay Flowers 5/115/TD is a must start.
Andrews is an auto start while he's healthy

Def/ST, Tucker and Butker? Both defenses are always a threat for turnovers, scores, sacks

Ravens 20...Kansas City 17, feels like another Under vs the Point Total that Vegas is broadcasting
Ravens out for blood after losing the AFCC and having their Super Bowl dreams dashed
Maybe they can get over the hump this season

Should be a good one. Weather looks pretty good - a little warm at kickoff and maybe some rain later in the game.

I have no feel on this game. With the NFL any more it's really a week by week league. I'm most interested to see if the Chiefs offense can get back some of that rhythm they had early in Mahomes career. Last year was brutal to watch at times yet somehow they win the Super Bowl.

And the defense has a lot of question marks in the secondary. I just wanna see a good game. Anything at this point for me is gravy.

Oh, and Tay Tay. I wanna see lots of camera shots of her if she is there so all the meat heads out there can whine and cry all season.

On the Ravens side, the OL is the big concern. They have 3 new starters (all unproven), an aging LT, and their Pro Bowl C has been banged up most of the summer. That does not bode well against KC's front 7.

The other area of doubt is the pass rush. Madabiuke (sp?) had 13.5 sacks last year as an interior DL and got paid - it would be almost impossible for him to match that number again. In addition, Baltimore lost Clowney, who had a helluva year in 2023. They've invested a ton of draft capital in EDGE guys the last few years - a couple of them need do more than flash.

I expect this will be a relatively low-scoring game. The O/U is 47, which I think is a tad high (watch it be 55-50  ). I think the winner will score in the low/mid 20s and the loser in the high teens.

I'm going something like 23-18 Chiefs

Never thought I would say this, but I'm rooting for the Chiefs.

Some things I am looking for in this game:
Pacheco/Perine: What does this split look like if any, how much does Perine cut into Pacheco's workload especially on 3rd downs.
Chiefs Def: How do they fair without Sneed and a weaker secondary this year.
Henry: How he looks on a new offense, does he still have it?
Ravens O: After Andrews and Flowers who is receiving option 3? Does Likely have value besides a handcuff?

I do believe that the Chiefs offense will be more effective in 24 than a year ago, but do not expect big things tomorrow. Big game and I hope that it is close to the end.

One concern that I have with the KC Defense is the loss of their top CB, but I don't see the Ravens, especially in the first game of the season providing a stiff test for the Chiefs secondary. Particularly if @Uruk-Hai is dead-on with their OL concerns. If Henry can't get going, I expect KC to win a bit more easily.

KC 27, Baltimore 19.

And I will sign up for meat head status because I don't want to see Taylor Swift at all.

Exactly. You would have hoped those people would have seen shrinks in the offseason to be able to cope with the 49 seconds of screen time she'll get at these games, but I suspect most didn't, and the tears will flow freely, both here and all over the 'net. Get your popcorn ready!

DraftKings has an o/u for TE Likely at 16.5 rec yards. I feel confident taking the over. Baltimore finds a way to get him on the field even with Andrews healthy.

I always feel a duty to remind folks to check your line up tonight
Start 2RB/3WR/TE/Flex which is quite common, pay attention to how you line your players up

In one league you have Chase-Kupp-Kirk-Rice and you want to play all 4 of them with the Flex spot being for the 4th WR
What you don't want to do is put Rashee Rice in your Flex spot so that if something happens between Thursday and Sunday
You might need to go in another direction, you still have flexibility if you need to roll a RB or TE out there vs that WR4 on your roster.

I usually try not to fill up my flex spots with players from TNF
On Sundays as the season rolls you may need to make last minute changes in the late Sunday afternoon games
Watch those flex slots

This is pretty common knowledge I think

Anyone else gonna drink booze tonight?
I have a Single Barrel 120-proof Bourbon from Moonrise in Clayton, GA
Also have their Single Rye at 112-proof and a special edition "365" whiskey, that's how many bottles they made and I grabbed one on my 50th in there when I was on the road

Probably the 112-proof Rye tonight and the Single Barrel Bourbon for when the Phins kick off on Sunday
Good question for everyone

Of course it is for you but you might be surprised how many folks use their Flex on a TNF game and get pinched going into the weekend.
All of us could use a 1-week "Camp" like the players with a full walk thru just to refresh everyone for the next 16-17-18 weeks
I'm just saying not everyone is running a checklist like you are

We’ll be right over.

I think this is going to be an interesting matchup (no way, right?) for KC. I think Mahomes is gonna need to use his legs in this one, and a lot this season, as while the interior OL is maybe the best in the NFL, the OTs may be the worst in the NFL.

I like Pacheco a ton for this season, but this isn't gonna be a great game for him. The guy on KC I expect big things from is Kelce, and obviously you never sit Mahomes, but this feels like a lower scoring game for him.

For Baltimore, I think the interior OL concerns are slightly overblown overall, but not when facing Chris Jones. However, I think the Lamar/Henry combo starts with a bang. I also think (assuming he is actually healthy) Mark Andrews is set up for a big game off PA.

I think the Ravens win 31-17, and we have a week of, "how did the NFL let them get Henry?" I think Lamar/Henry combine for like 200/3 on the ground tonight.

Started making a pot of chili around 3-4 o'clock, figure I'm going to be starving by game time
fresh onion, jalepeno, cheddar and sour cream on top
Chili Dogs, Chili Mac over DeCecco, Chili on baked potatoes, gonna be a fine couple of nights while the NFL Takeover starts tonight

-There's a sick recipe in the FFA, I just do onion, olive oil, add in some ground chuck/beef, could do ground turkey as well but chose the red meat tonight
Cayenne on the beef as its browning, add in 2 cans of red kidney beans after rinsing them to cut the gas, OG diced Tom and OG crushed tomatoes, add in 2.5 tablespoons of chili powder
25-30 minute intervals on low after you get it boiling a bit, 2-3 hours slow cooking, might need a half can of water just because it cooks off over a couple hours, chili gets pretty thick
Should be a fun evening

The Chiefs drafted a left tackle in the draft from BYU. All indications so far is he is gonna be a good one. He will be starting.

What the heck!?!?!?!? Why isn't this game on Prime? First game of the season, TNF and it's only on NBC? Now, I have to scramble to find a stream of the game.

I am seriously ready to quit the NFL for the crap show they've turned viewing games into. Squeeze every last penny out of the consumer and make everything a PITA.

And all of you... GET OFF MY LAWN!

He's still a day 2 rookie making his 1st career start, against an excellent defense. I thought he was a solid enough pick, but its a big jump.

Ravens are like 7-1 in last 8 openers or something like that. They are like 12-4 against the spread when underdogs.

Add beer instead of water.

Do you think this weather will sloppy this game up a bit? Lower the o/u and player props?

This is what it's like right now finding out kick off has been delayed...

Gate 8...Gate 9...Gate 23...Gate 24
"Good Luck, we're all counting on you"
