NFL Network highlights..unwatchable? (1 Viewer)

Da Guru

Fair & Balanced
I always loved the highlights from the NFL Network..when Sanders first came on he was very insightful, and Eisen was the perfect balance on the show. Now it is just Sanders, Mooch, Charles and Irvin trying to scream over each other. Mooch is really getting annoying. With the cackling, screaming and constant laughing and "pay da man"..along with the music in the background it is getting tough to try and watch the actual game footage.

Cringe worthy. Like a bunch of drunk guys yelling at the TV in a bar.
Puzzling as to how it evolved into the way it is now.

It's better muted. That way you don't have to stand by with a thumb on the volume button for the, "DO WHA CHEW DO MIKE VICK... DO WHA CHEW DO!" or "PAY DA MAN" or "CAM" every time they mention Cam Newton.

The constant yelling over one another is just incredibly unprofessional.

Most "talents" on these type of shows have a shelf life.

1. When they first get the gig, they want to impress everyone and earn cred by being serious and knowledgeable, with strong analysis.

2. At some point, they realize the guys with more tenure just get by on sophomoric attitude.

3. The new guy eventually realizes he doesn't have to work nearly as hard as he thought as this job, so he slacks off and just gets by on sophomoric attitude as well.

4. Viewers get tired and annoyed with all the shtick.

5. Some/all of the current talent gets replaced by new guys getting their first gig.

6. Back to step 1.

I think it's a good highlight show. It seems to have more game highlights then the other shows I've watched. Sanders is kind of annoying but the other 3 don't bother me.

My biggest complaint with the NFL Network is they never show what the Top 5 scoring plays were from Sunday's games. I'd love to see them.

Been waiting a mighty long time for Berman to get to step 5.

I was just thinking this last night. I turned to NFLN last year after being disenchanted with ESPN, but.. NFLN seems to now be going more over the top than ESPN.

Oh and, Kurt Warners top 5 QB list each week is the most cringe worthy thing on the network.

The worst is when Deoin, Irvin, Dukes, Sapp, and I think Mariucci do the show where they just sit in a dark room and talk about football. It's just a bunch of people yelling about nonsense. I understand wanting to get a players point of view, but it seems like someone else said..."just a bunch of drunk guys at a bar". Mariucci seems like the dorky kid trying so hard to fit in with the cool crowd. They need more coaches or analysts, and maybe just one player who is a bit more laid back for a players POV when needed.

I agree with the poster who said "around the league" is the best show. They need to either make that show longer to give the beat guys more time, or make it "around the conferecne" or something instead.

The only reason I got Directv over cable was NFL Network. I can't stand ESPN and I don't care about other sports, so I just wanted an alternative. NFL Network has become so bad that I didn't hesitate to drop it when the cable guy offered me a deal.

It's a shame there is no good sports channel. I pretty much just read all of my sports news and watch highlights on the internet now.

TSN up in Canada is pretty awesome.Great hosts, personalities, and pretty funny. Hot as hell female corespondents as well.Unfortunately, they get their NFL pre/post-game from big daddy in the USofA, ESPN.

Disagree. Cringe worthy would be that "C'mon Man!" segment on ESPN. Don't mind Kurt W. breaking down the QB's

Yeah, I'll second that. And whatever that "Corner of 21st & Prime" shouty thing that Deion does is god awful as well.

Losing Rod Woodson was a blow to their broadcast crew. One of the best NFL broadcasters I've seen. Long as you don't get him talking about **** LeBeau.

It's unfortunate the networks have all moved away from this. Andrea Kremer, Pam Oliver, Suzy Kolber, etc.? Blech. Also unfortunate that nearly every broadcast team for the NFL on any network is better seen with mute on. This one more than most.

NFL Gameday just makes me feel bad for Fran Charles -- he's already saddled with an effeminate name and a voice like Kermit the Frog's. Then they make him put up with these pompous hollering wind-bags.

 THANK YOU! That's where I've heard that voice before.

The best thing on the NFLN is the "Around the League" show where they interview all the beat reporters for the various teams.

The highlights show is the same as all the others just with more over-the-top boorishness.
I agree. That's a good show. The Playbook show is decent too. On top of the highlights problems, Total Access is perhaps the worst show on television. Silly fictitious debates (you take a side, Ill take the other side for the heck of it), no real information, no actual news breaks. Worse than Sportscenter (barely).

Want real NFL talk that goes deeper? Sirius NFL Radio. With no pictures on the screen, the hosts are forced to talk about football in-depth. Great interviews and the callers keep them honest. NFL Radio waaaaaaayyyyyy better than NFL Network that is basically a-wanna-be-ESPN-for-the-NFL, which is a terrible network to emulate.,

yea, that CAM crap is really annoying. i mean say it once or twice during a clip, not 15 times.

Links?
Keep in mind they look MUCH better on tv.http://tsn.ca/tsn_talent/bio/?id=11331 (the HOTTEST -- she's the type that makes you hate your wife. Dreamy)

http://tsn.ca/tsn_talent/bio/?id=452 (the DIRTIEST -- video exists of her making out HARDCORE w/another girl. superhot)

http://tsn.ca/tsn_talent/bio/?id=9765 (nerd next door hotness.. she takes getting used to)

http://tsn.ca/tsn_talent/bio/?id=9702 (the girlfriend you don't tell your wife about)

http://tsn.ca/tsn_talent/bio/?id=11266 (still looks like she's in highschool, hot)

I sifted out the uglies, and I feel like I'm missing a few...

Best part is, these girls actually know what they're talking about. Which blows me away. Not just useless/clueless interviews that anyone can pull off. They talk sports.

Got some other sports channels up here with solid crews of babes as well.

Good to be Canadian sometimes.

it seems like they're trying to recreate TNT's magical basketball coverage. you just can't copy barkley, webber, ernie, and kenny smith's chemistry. (hope shaq doesn't screw it up.)

I dont mind it, I watch it every Sunday. I dont care what the soundtrack is as long as I can see highlights.

You guys are too critical. If things they say annoy you, just put the TV on mute and watch the highlights. I don't watch this show to get analysis and breakdowns on every play. I just like to see the highlights.

Jerry Rice is quickly entering into the Emmitt Smith realm of one of the worst analyst's on television. What does ESPN see in this guy? He is absolutely brutal to listen too and I have yet to hear him form an original opinion or have anything remotely interesting to say.

too much analysis and not enough highlights. I flip between the Sun nite game and this show and most of time its Deion blah blah blah. And some games get get a whole 2 plays of highlights so more time for Mooch to analyze how some coach who should be fired is doing a good job. Show me highlights!
