The NFL's first goal with NFL network and the thursday night package was to use the full schedule of games as leverage to get the network picked up by time warner, etc.

Now that the league has achieved these goals, they are looking at cutting the thursday night football package in half, selling one half to another network like NBC or Fox, and keeping the other half on NFL network. There are also plans to add a second thursday night game to create a NEW package and selling that to another network for more cash.

The league is looking for a bid of $800 million for the rights to the package of half of the current thursday night schedule. That's $25 million per team.

Wait wait wait...so you're telling me I have to change the channel to another network just to watch the 2nd half of a game???

Seriously, who comes up with this s***!!?

I don't get it though, it's clear nobody likes the TNF games. Why not move it to Friday night? The quality would be better.

The only concern would be viewership on the 1st might of the weekend. But then again, it IS football we're talking. It might even bring more people out to bars on a weekend night. Which is a win-win anyways.

And on a Friday night, you're still not competing with college games. Maybe only like 2 or 3...

I think as fans, we all like watching TNF. However, it doesn't seem like it's something the players like since they get less time to prepare and heal. Seems like the NFL is more worried about the quantity of the product than the quality of the product.

I'd like to see more streaming of games. NBC has been streaming live sports content for years, as has ESPN obviously. CBS has done March Madness and they streamed this past weekend's games (first time they've streamed the NFL). I assumed Fox hadn't jumped on board because I went to the Fox Sports site and didn't see anything about it. But, I just read that games were available (with some technical difficulties during the Wild Card round) on Fox Sports Go.

Could they sell the Thursday Night games to Sunday? Because I'd be a big fan of that.
:goodposting:

When will it stop? I have nfl network and make a point NOT to watch Thursday night football in hopes that I'm doing my tiny part to get it to stop.

But I'm assuming they won't stop until there is Thur, fri, Saturday early morning before college starts, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday Night Football just to ensure I don't watch any games.

No, the NFL is most concerned with the health and safety of the players.

It's clear some people on a fantasy football message board complain about not liking it. But, what are the ratings?
Ehh, you're probably right lol.
he is, i wish they did not have TNF, but

• The 13-game schedule produced the most-watched season for Thursday Night Football, with an average of 8.0 million viewers. That was up 10% from the 2012 season average.

Yup by forcing them to play on a short week every week.
