NFL viewership off 11% YOY (1 Viewer)

Game attendance should be a lot lower this week, thanks to the President's instructions to leave the stadium immediately at the first sign of social causes that you disagree with.

Unfortunately, given the rabid nature of his fan base, this isn't as unlikely as we'd probably like to believe.

The Chargers can't even fill a 27K capacity stadium.

The NFL was better off continuing to use the threat of moving teams to LA as a stick.  They sold their BS for so long they ended up falling for their own scam.
Perfect way of putting it.

I maintain that viewership is down because the quality of play sucks. And it sucks because they don't practice enough.

It's primarily reflected in offensive line play which is killing any shred of quarterbacking ability that happens to make it into the league - of which there isn't very much.

I think it's a combination of things:

- The concussions focus is serious and parents are pulling their kids from the sport

- A fraction of the time watching a game on TV is actually spent watching a game

- They went all out with things like Red Zone to get casual fans and now they have made a lot of their previous fan base casual.

- Politics.  People don't watch sports to get a political lesson.  I'm not sure what the NFL is going to do about this, but whatever they do it's going to alienate a large segment of fans.

- Greed and the constant uprooting of teams (or threat to uproot teams) from cities that won't gift billionaires billions.  They pushed the envelope too far.

They forgot that they aren't the customers.  Barely watch NFL the last couple of years and don't miss it at all but I'm really enjoying all of the empty seats in LA.

What part of the world do you live in where you only have one game?
Exactly.  There have been some great NCAA games this year and it's just getting started.  Texas USC was amazing, TENN FLA, GA ND.

I'm more tired of stuff like the ending of the Lions Falcons game.  And for whatever reason, controversial endings continue to happen in the NFL at a high rate while the college game feels pure.  The Den Buf game was decided when a ref threw a flag for Von Miller not helping Taylor up, really?

Not a chance.  I can barely stomach a college game anymore.  The elite teams may play 3-4 close games all year, games routinely soar over 4 hours....it also is a terrible product.
Nothing personal man but you say you're a Bama grad right?  We have played roughly a dozen games in the last 9 years that rank as some of the greatest games ever. Yes we blow a lot of people out but if you don't appreciate how it looks to be great, and live and die the highs and lows in this case, then just drop the sport. Maybe all sports. Other than what you gamble on.

Finally tired of playing with 60 five star players against a bunch of three star players?

Cord cutter here.

7 of 22 NCAA top 25 games decide by 8 points or less.  8 of 16 NFL games decide by 8 points or less.  Maybe we should agree that high school football is the best because there were more good games last weekend.

Wait, what?  There are high school blowouts every weekend.

Yup.  That there are probably 1000 games each weekend which means that there are many more better games than you have in college football

Rec soccer is also better than the EPL

Pretty good game on the SECN you conveniently forgot to mention. Also, the LSU loss to Troy that was going on at the same time you also oddly didn't mention.

It's almost like you are picking and choosing in order to make your argument.

Not to mention the Top 5 upset last night.

But still, it was a pretty weak day. And college is still better than NFL.

The personalities in college are so much better too...Ogre could never get an NFL job yet here is running a big program...I'll cant name the Giants coach.

Wasn't cherry picking. Just scanned the top 25 for active games and lsu game must have ended. My rabbity ears don't get the secn or the high school thriller on the south side of town

If you like 90% of the games ending in blowouts and knowing the outcome in advance then college is a superior product. It lasts 20 min longer per game to top it off so you can really savor Alabama winning by 60+.

Watching a blowout from your College team is better too since you get a chance to see your future...in the NFL you get to watch career backups show why they are who they are.

College better than the NFL? When has a 30 second commercial during the national championship game cost a gajillion dollars?

Its pro ball. If you are expecting every game to be competitive then you just don't understand sports. Good teams dominate and win championships and the bad teams get higher picks and a chance to hit pay dirt and build.

I think you forgot the very best part of all, the final four teams being chosen by selection committee. It's pretty much the only sport I can think of where the 5th best team has no chance to win a title. Outside of boxing, and we all know how above board that sport is.

Until AT LEAST 8 teams(there's really no reason it can't be 16) have a chance to win at the end the entire college football season is one part exhibition season and two parts selection committee circle jerk at the "unhappy" ending. "Gee, do you remember back in 2019 when the selection committee decided we got to play for the national championship. That was the best selection committee decision in YEARS! That selection committee decision still gives me goose bumps when I think about it!"

The NFL may have it's problems, but on it's worst day it still isn't as broken as college football.

16 is a joke.  8 is still too many.

8 is perfect imo.

I never watched CFB until the playoffs with Oregon/FSU (Jameis and Marcus).

I think a lot of casual fans will watch bracket style playoffs. Watching random bowl games and one national championship?  No thx.

I dunno about you guys but I'm probably gonna run out and get a Jeep Compass later. Then stop and grab a six-pack Bud Light before I drive through Taco Bell for one of their new naked tacos

Okie State ended up being a great game. The late game on ESPN was good too. There's a zillion more games, obviously there will be more close games, blowouts, boring games, good finishes, etc. Seems like a silly point.

Also you get the Pac 12 network but not the SEC network? Aren't you in the Carolinas? Pretty sure that isn't possible.

Kevin Burkhardt and Charles Davis calling the Saints / Dolphins game.   Kevin says, "this first half of football has just been awful!"  both chuckles and agree that this game is brutal.   Their words not mine.     I don't think I have ever seen an announcer state anything bad about the play.

Oh, zero to zero  with 1 min to go in half.    zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Maybe they'll go to PKs?
