NHL Off-Season thread:Down goes Kane! (1 Viewer)

Take out his first couple starts and Wards numbers this year are great. Only one really bad season (last year), proven he can win a cup, pretty consistently above average on a bad team, he may be no Kuemper but I think he'd do very well on Wild.
yes, but if it costs them a Zucker or high pick, not sure that's worth it. could hamstring their cap a bit and as I've said many times, if they can't fix what's in front of him it doesn't matter much (although confidence in who is back there can help that to an extent too).
We will throw in E. Staal too. They help you win the cup and we get them/their contracts the heck out of here. They will play good with other talented players, they just can't carry a team.
I think this Canes team is actually pretty decent. They just can't score. At all.And when I say getting Ward for next to nothing, the rumor is they may be willing to dump him just to get rid of the salary due to ownership concerns with one of their main shareholders passing away. Sending back Haula wouldn't be devastating, but I'm not sure I'd want to even see that much given up.
I am hearing they want a 2nd and to keep very little of his salary but who knows what is real. When you can't score and Staal, Staal and Semin are making 20 million plus per year, it is time for them to go. Semin is the worst thing that JR did by far.

Edit: What fans that are left want Eric and Cam gone. Eric just does not always have the effort and they word back is that he is always is playing hurt. They hate Cam's contract. There is a blow it up mentality here. The core of the team is rotten. But the biggest concern is there are not people going to the games or getting season tickets. They might end up leaving town.

The link is to the message board of the hardcore fan base. They want Eric gone.
no question there are bad contracts. I was just saying when I watch that team, when relatively healthy (not like the beginning of the season), they look pretty good. they just really really struggle to finish. something I've seen way too long in my backyard.

Based on this thread, I think it's time to start up the Eric Staal to Toronto rumours again. This is based on him being my 2nd favourite Peterborough Pete of the last 15 or so years, the Leafs being my favourite team, and desperately needing a #1 centre. Canes can have Reimer (for when they dump Ward's salary) and someone else not named Kessel/JVR/Kadri/Rielly/Gardiner/Franson/Nylander back, but not a 1st round draft pick.

Isles 3

Rags 0

Hope the King enjoyed the view from the bench in the 3rd.

Next up: Penguins Friday

I'll be there with my grill in the parking lot at 5:00

BUFFALO BOUNCEBACK*

*or lose and tank the rest for a top two pick

Rob Zepp in goal tonight for the Flyers. What's the word on him Flyer fans?I seem to remember him being one of those lifetime minor guys from way back(drafted in 99 or 2000 I think).

He's 33 and wears number 72, what more is there to know?! ;) No clue, seen him two games and he held his own. He was drafted twice, not signing with Atlanta the first go round and was plucked from a Finnish league this offseason. I think it says more about Emery that he's playing. Im assuming your guys have some fun with him tonight.

I don't ever recall seeing him play or hearing anything about him recently. These games are always fun so I have no doubts he will stand on his head and make 50 saves in a shutout.

Its usually the Flyers making the rookie/backup look like Dryden. Tonight will be his third career NHL start, so no one has seen him! Mason is hurt again and Emery sucks. So Berube is having some fun while he's still coaching in the NHL. I'm betting your Capitals.

He does, made one or two ten bell saves. Glad my site didn't post the team totals, thought the Caps would pot a few.

Holtby has to be sneaking into the Vezina race with how well he has been playing the last 2-3 months.20 consecutive starts, points in 19 of them and a stellar SP and GAA.14-2-4 ,1.98 GAA,.934 SP and 3 SO's.

Trotz really has them buying into his system from Ovie right on down but make no mistake in that if Holtby hadn't been playing this well no chance they would be where they are now(3 points out of the Metro lead).

As if the Flyers season could get much worse - Scott Laughton still not back on bench after the NIskanen hit

http://www.broadstreethockey.com/2015/1/14/7549711/niskanen-destroys-scott-laughton-with-clean-hit
Leveled. Didn't know Niskanen had that in him.Full speed: https://vine.co/v/OD0lQ5UnMaw
Similar to Scott Stevens on Lindros.
Thought the same thing when I saw it live.Love me some Stevens

Niskanen has been playing with some edge to him I haven't seen before.

glad Fletcher didn't do anything drastic/move key players. easy short term move that can be reevaluated at year end. not sure he's worth anything without Burke behind him, but I've always liked his potential. at worst hopefully he pushes Kuemper because he clearly can't handle the gig at this point when he's out on an island. hopefully after tonight (if Dubnyk isn't in yet) we've seen Backstrom's last start.

Numerous sources reporting Pekka Rinna out next 3 games as well as the All-Star game. Also being reported Halak and MAF will replace both Rinne and Howard in the ASG.

Interesting to see how the Preds will do with Hutton.
