3 years @$4.5 mill according to multiple sources
I assume they'd be on the hook for a buyout of some sort. So, they'd owe him money but he'd still be free to sign elsewhere. What a mess. I know it's unlikely, but what happens if he gets signed and then then arbitration finds that LA was wrong in terminating his contract.

Bill Daly says Mike Richards is indeed a UFA. He wasn't on the list because his contract was terminated; buyouts weren't on it either.

Who's this? Did the Hawks draft him?

Some locals were pushing for Green or Beauchemin, but I was hoping for Sekera or Franson.SportsNet talking that Sekera to the Oilers is likely a done deal. Great pickup for them if so.

I've also heard Bruins were kicking tires on Bickell.

Will be tough to pull off considering there is a 7 year maxEdit- never mind, forgot you can go 8 if resigningWho gives a 32yo player with injury issues $72MM over 8 years? Will believe it when I see it.

$5.5M for 6 yrs. seems like a bit of an overpay for Sekera, but I guess the Oil have the cap space to do it and they won't be worried about any of their big names being up for new deals for a while. The Oilers additions on D of Sekera, Gryba, Letestu, Reinhart gets them closer to an NHL caliber D than they've had in a long time.
Now they just need to buyout Nikitin. They already had Fayne, Klefbom and Schultz.

Waiting until July 1st to address your team's biggest need usually results in an overpay. I think it is about 500,000 too much per year and about a year too long, but that's what happens when you wait too long. I'm just glad they didn't overpay for Green.$5.5M for 6 yrs. seems like a bit of an overpay for Sekera, but I guess the Oil have the cap space to do it and they won't be worried about any of their big names being up for new deals for a while. The Oilers additions on D of Sekera, Gryba, Letestu, Reinhart gets them closer to an NHL caliber D than they've had in a long time.

Hearing Frolik to CAL will come in around five years at a $4.3M AAV.
Five years, $4.3M AAV.@TSNBobMcKenzie: CGY on verge of getting Michael Frolik signed on a long term deal.
Uh oh. He might cost them.
Yeah, prudent move35 yr old Beauch to Avs for 3yr-13.5 mil. Not a good signing IMO
Bieska with 2.5 salary this year, 4.6 cap hit and just signed extension for 2yr-8mil.
I like this trade off.
