NHL Season Thread: TB wins and Kucherov loves beer (1 Viewer)

Couple of interesting stats about Game 3: since it took place on July 2, the Tampa Bay Lightning are the first team to play and win an NHL game in all 12 calendar months, and Victor Hedman’s goal makes him the first player to score a goal in all 12 months.

I guess Montreal never played in September? I know they played in august last year.

Matiss Kivlenieks, Blue Jackets goalie has passed away.   link

"There appears to have been some type of a fireworks malfunction," he said. Kivlenieks fled a hot tub, slipped, fell and struck his head, according to an initial investigation."

tragic, 24 years old. 😢

I saw that, sounds like a horrible accident. Sending prayers to the guy’s family.

Geez, now they’re saying he didn’t hit his head after all. The original report was actually correct and he was struck by a firework mortar in the chest and that’s what killed him. Just awful.

God that 4 minute PP was frustrating.

Have tickets to Wednesday so that’s super cool, would’ve preferred it tonight but that’s the way it goes. Having a chance to see your team lift the cup seems like a rare opportunity.

It is.  Having Teemu get the cup and skate it over to where we were sitting is something none of us will forget.

It’s something my wife and I have talked about since we bought season tickets together for the first time back in 2013. It’s cool to get the chance.

kind of remarkable that the team that is up 3-1 in Stanley Cup Finals is also 0-4 in overtime during these playoffs.

According to my quick Math, that means they're 15-3 in regulation during these playoffs.

Stamkos looks like he has concrete blocks on his skates. 0fer on the power play. No real urgency on that major. As soon as they didn’t score on that I knew we were headed to game 5.

If Killorn is ready I’m sure he’ll play, but with what we’ve seen from the 4th line and Joseph the last two games it may hurt the team.

The freaking mayor said they should lose one so they can win it in Tampa. Be careful what you wish for. It’s not like these guys haven’t lost 4 straight in a playoff series before.

Best finish it Wednesday.

Betty Castor is a moron.

I’m not expressly concerned with the OT loss last night, because hockey is weird. More to the point, Tampa hit at least 3 posts, and if any of those go in, the series is over. Furthermore, it took everything Montreal had to win the game, and it took overtime to do it. I don’t think they can keep up that effort forever, and Tampa can score almost at will. They’re coming back to Tampa, and Amalie Arena will be jumping. Tampa knows what it takes to win, and they’ll be prepared for Game 5.

Oh come on they dominated that game. They’re fine. Moneypuck had them winning that game 86% of the time.

73% Bolts game 1
66% Habs game 2
73% for Bolts game 3

84% Bolts for game 4
I figured 2 might sway towards the Habs. I would have ranked them 2, 3, 4, 1 with game 2 being Montreals best.

Kind of stole the game last night due to luck and timely saves. I guess it makes up for the reverse in game 2.

The Tampa pp is just so good once they get it setup. I expect them to score everyone.

I certainly would never get caught dead rooting for the Canadiens, but I also was driving home from the weekend and missed the third period and OT last night, so in hindsight I'm not exactly sorry I didn't miss the Cup clincher.

Tampa has been a little sloppy with the puck in their own end. Lightning better not take their foot off the accelerator.
