Nicks Kool Aid drinkers (1 Viewer)

Gold Standard

I understand everyone's enthusiasm over Hakeem Nicks heading into 2010 - a big physical presense that can stretch the field, but I don't understand how anyone can justify why he's ranked as high as he is (#12) when Steve Smith had double the amount of targets not only thoughout all of last year, but in the second half of the year. My point being, Smith is Manning's favorite target on the team, not Nicks. Throw in a healthy Jacobs this year, the possible emergence of Barden, and a defesne that should be better, Nicks has all the makings of burning owners with a high pick on draft day. You mean to tell me owners are comfortable with him as thier #2WR??

Insane to me..thoughts?

I agree. I like Nicks and he very well could be the new Plaxico for that team with Smith being the new Toomer but its alot of risk taking him in the 4th round right now. High risk/High Reward.

I'm pretty high on him and think he has a substantial ceiling, but I do think he's getting to the point where he's becoming a bit overrated, and I'm not sure that I'll end up owning him in any leagues. That said, I think Steve Smith is the one I'd be more careful of, especially outside of PPR. I do think Nicks will thrive, it's just a matter of how big the hype gets and whether he can justify that draft position.

Too many cooks in the kitchen for my liking, especially if the ground game shapes up after it shipped out last season. I don't think Eli is going to top 4000 yards again.

I've been seeing Nicks go in the 5th (sometimes to me) in mocks. If he's your #3 I think it's a good risk/reward spot. I personally wouldn't have him at my WR2. Giants running more, Smith being more of a PPR guy in town and you never know how TDs will shake out. If Nicks has less than 8 TDs, I think we will be underperform to most owners expectations in 2010.

Nicks was a rookie last year- Steve Smith a 3rd year player.Nicks had 130 more yards last year than Smith had in his first two combined- and 5 more TDs. Given that Nicks was a rookie (and produced very well by rookie standards) he should improve more between year 1-2 than Smith will between year 3-4. Smith might not be at his ceiling yet but Nicks (barring injury) definitely isn't.

Dont knock him cause he has alot of rankers very high on him.

Its for good reason he is ranked as high, he has STAR qualities to him, and

most wr's dont. He gave a glimps last year while injured. The dude is a freaking talent,

Just my opinion but i thought he was the best wr to have last yr in rookie drafts.
