Things Woz's gf's say.wow...that's small
MJD might be 5'7, but he weighs between 205 and 210. That's about 45 pounds (of pure muscle) that Devine doesn't have.Maybe I'm just tired to be hearing it at this point of the year but I saw Roto and some places listing a lot of guys' stats on various things and I'm kind of numb to it. Its something to report but does it really mean anything?I remember a TON of people knocking MJD when he came out, saying he was only 5'7" and I remember him doing several radio interviews on Sirius where the interviewer would say "how do you respond to teams that may be thinking of drafting you, saying you're only 5'7?" All 32 NFL teams passed on him once and some didn't like his size and it meant nothing. Not saying that is the same case for this particular person, but just a thought to consider before we spend the next two months raging over 6'1" QBS, 4.41 vs. 4.38 forty times, 23 reps on the bench, and 36" inch arm lengths.
right and I wasn't trying to make a direct comparison. Just saying in general to take it with a grain of salt when a guy doesn't have the "measureables" that are idea relative to a position (someone could say a De is only 6'1" and think he can't be a good DE...but Elvis Dumerville would prove different). I guess I'm just not ready to discuss minute differences in times and heights and weights, etc, ad naseum and read countless posts about how that will or will not make them a good player.MJD might be 5'7, but he weighs between 205 and 210. last recorded time was 4.34I don't think his straight line speed is that impressive either. I would be surprised if he ran the 40 in less than 4.45 which for someone that small, it probably won't cut it.He has insane quicks though.

Not sure where I found it, but I've compiled a excel ranking list for the off season to keep track of all the incoming rookies.. Most of the info came from 2 or 3 sites, and I don't remember if there was any indication where from or how credible the info was, but 4.34 was what I foundNoel Devine - West Virginia - 5'8 - 180 - 4.34That's what I had...Who reported that? Really? After we just saw Dexter McCluster get drafted and have an impact in a variety of ways? He got touches at RB, WR, PR, and KR as a rookie. Now, in fantasy terms, Devine probably is and will always be a nobody. But he could be valuable in real life, to a real team who cares about more than fantasy output....In NFL terms, this guy is a nobody. KR for a while at best. Mini Dante Hall at best.
holy cowUsing PFR's tools, here's a list of the sub-180 pound players with the most career rushing yards since 1990:
1. Glyn Milburn, RB/WR, 1993-2001, 177 lbs., 817 career rushing yards
2. Dexter Carter, RB, 1991-1996, 170 lbs., 583 career rushing yards
3. Dennis Northcutt, WR, 2000-2009, 175 lbs., 366 career rushing yards
Dude is tiny. I'm surprised they list him as 5'7. He looks shorter than Drew and Sproles. His feet are not as good as Darren Sproles. I don't see him being drafted.Probably won't amount to much but his feet are easily the best since Barry Sanders. Maybe the Jets draft him?
Well, one was measured objectively on a scale, and the other was provided by the player/school who have an incentive to list him as larger than he is. I'm going to trust the scale on this one.I'm guessing he'll pick up some weight before the combine, weigh in, and bust back down to run a 40 on his pro day...
But 2 things, I don't know what he really weighs.. Is it 180 at ESPN and CBS suggest... or is it the 160 the OP is quoting.. And how much weight can we expect him to pick up in order to play at the pro level.. I know many RB's pick up weight after college when they enter the pro's.. After that, how much weight can he pick up and still be explosive?
does anyone have a link showing 160? I assume that's the one your suggesting is the real measure..Well, one was measured objectively on a scale, and the other was provided by the player/school who have an incentive to list him as larger than he is. I was there - 160 was the number out of the Sr. Bowl employee's mouth after he looked at the scale with Devine on it. And they also put him on the scale three times because I don't think they wanted to believe he was that light. It appeared Devine requested at least one of those re-weighs.Found it..
