Inka Dinka don'tLike this?Saw the pictures for the first time. My immediate thought is thats the largest nose bridge I’ve ever seen. The brazen manner in which he doesn’t hide his face makes me wonder if he’s wearing some form of mask.
It is crazy. As is the online "public" reaction.Yea this is a wild story. Something kinda like out of Fargo.
Agreed. Thank y'all for keeping this thread more cool.
Some of the stuff on social was awful. A man was murdered. And kids lost their dad. This is real life and real humans. This isn't John Wick.
Thank y'all for being civil.
Of course other people are real humans too. But I don't want us ever to be cheering for people to die. Or celebrating a murder. Like I saw in other places with this.It is crazy. As is the online "public" reaction.Yea this is a wild story. Something kinda like out of Fargo.

I agree with this but aren't all of the people who died or went bankrupt because of denied coverage “real life and real humans too?”
As I said in the previous thread, I will never condone murder as a means of justice for this problem, and I’ll shut up if you don’t want this as part of the conversation, but there’s a very real and human reason why people are so upset that they end up celebrating this incident. I don’t agree with it, but I do understand it.
And we all thank you @Joe Bryant , despite all of our past transgressions as a collective forum, for allowing us the opportunity to discuss this kind of content in a civil manner.
Remember Sammy Jankis.just an observation most people i hear talking about this in my life say murder is bad and they feel bad for his kids but no one and i mean no one is defending the insurance industry and everyone is saying they totally understand why someone would want to take this guys life and that is pretty scary to me to be honest take that to the bank brohans
There are plenty of people in the world we would be cheering to die. Putin. Kim Jong Il. etc. People cheered Hitlers death. They weren't wrong for it. This is not that situation, but there are many times when one persons death saves millions of others.Of course other people are real humans too. But I don't want us ever to be cheering for people to die. Or celebrating a murder. Like I saw in other places with this.It is crazy. As is the online "public" reaction.Yea this is a wild story. There can be a real discussion about insurance businesses and health care. But the "guy got what he deserved" stuff is not what I want here and I'm thankful folks didn't bring that here.
As I said, this isn't a John Wick movie.
Yea, if this guy was even just one of my neighbors who I only kinda knew I would recognize him from that photoExactly. Imagine the 5 closest people in your life. If you saw their photo exactly like the suspect in this case, you would immediately say “OMG, that’s my friend Billy.”
Bro this man is the joker what the hellApparently the backpack they found in Central Park was full of Monopoly money.
Not a good look for NYPD at all. At some point I’d bet they get him but to murder someone and make it free this long is not good.If their latest update 72 hours later is "they think he left New York", I'm thinking this guy got away with it.
IMO, any expectation that they get this guy is at a minimum right now.
Wait this is real? Holy ****Bro this man is the joker what the hellApparently the backpack they found in Central Park was full of Monopoly money.
That’s a pretty sad stat. In the middle of the street in broad daylight with people around, cameras everywhere is what makes this one shocking. To me at least. Not only escapes the scene but is long gone in a different state most likely. Maybe I’m naive, didn’t know we were this bad.Not a good look for NYPD at all. "While the rate at which murders are solved or "cleared" has been declining for decades, it has now dropped to slightly below 50% in 2020 - a new historic low. And several big cities, including Chicago, have seen the number of murder cases resulting in at least one arrest dip into the low to mid-30% range."
Seems that this is par for the course - although most murders don't get the kind of media coverage this one got. It won't be long before the media move on, and the next big story takes its turn in the public conscience.

What exactly are you expecting out of our law enforcement in these situations? I imagine you would not be in favor of a police state where nobody can travel between states without checkpoints - so not sure what else the NYPD could have doneThat’s a pretty sad stat. NYPD divers were searching a body of water in New York’s Central Park on Saturday for the firearm used in the fatal shooting of a health care executive in Manhattan
"On Friday evening, authorities found a backpack in the park which will be tested at a forensic lab in Queens, a law enforcement official told CNN. No gun was found in the backpack believed to have belonged to the gunman, law enforcement officials said Saturday. Authorities have yet to officially confirm the bag’s origins, an official told CNN Friday.
The Peak Design backpack contained a Tommy Hilfiger jacket, according to the officials. It was not immediately clear if other items were in the backpack, officials said."
Reward is now $50k.Is the reward still $10K? That seems so piddly. It's $250k for the top 10 FBI most wanted. Seems United Healthcare would offer up significantly more than $10k. There are people in NYC that wouldn't walk to the corner for 10k.
Why? All they have is a face that might have been disguised. Not saying they don't have a name, but it's very possible they don't have a name. The only physical evidence is a backpack with a jacket in it, some casings, and maybe a water bottle.Reward is now $50k.Is the reward still $10K? That seems so piddly. I find it hard to believe the police don’t know his name. They just may not know where he is but I have to believe they know who they are looking for.

Reward is contigent on the info leading to the arrest and conviction. It doesn't get paid out if he never stands trial.Reward is now $50k.Is the reward still $10K? That seems so piddly. The justification of murdering innocents is exponentially worse in a few other threads that continue to remain unlocked. Not if that thread was locked

You are able to start a new thread.
Maybe that one wouldn't completely derail.![]()

10 billion dollar agency and they have a paper cup and some board game money lolAnd here are some of the key pieces of evidence they’ve gathered:
They just released another photo from a cab. You can see his eyes much better there. Why? All they have is a face that might have been disguised. They may know who he is but still release images so maybe someone sitting next to him on a greyhound bus or whatever may recognize him. They just released another photo from a cab. I would think they know who he was based on the photo and getting tips from the public. However, since they just released another photo, it makes me feel like I'm wrong and they are still figuring it out.
Maybe just me, but when I saw the pictures I thought it was Jake Gyllenhall. Obviously not him, but the similarity is uncanny - I guess everyone has a doppleganger.
NY Post reported mayor Adams said police have the guys name and others are running with that.
NYC just a had a " come as Timothy Chalomet" event, that Chamlomet crashed. Smiley looks like that.Maybe just me, but when I saw the pictures I thought it was Jake Gyllenhall. Obviously not him, but the similarity is uncanny - I guess everyone has a doppleganger.

They don't know who he is.I hope I'm wrong on this, but I don't get the sense they have any idea where he went. Even if they know who he is and are sitting on his normal haunts, he pretty clearly hasn't returned to them.

i’ll look aroundI really wish I hadn't just rewatched Sopranos again because now I can't help but assume this guy is already back in an Italian village drinking an espresso.
I think people get spoiled watching TV and movies. Reality is, if you plan out a crime like this, you stand a pretty good chance of getting away with it in a city the size of NY. It's not on the cops, I think 1.) they are doing the best they can right now with the information they have and 2.) I think they probably know a little more than they are sharing with the public. Remember, the NYPD is like a small army. There probably isn't a more surveilled city in the US. It's getting harder, especially w/phone data but you can still defeat that by buying a burner then ditching it.That’s a pretty sad stat. If this guy's plans included prep to hunker somewhere out of site for a few months, it might be almost impossible to catch him now, especially if a disguise (or other sorts of misdirection) was used.
