**NYJets at Cleveland** (-6.5) (39.5) (1 Viewer)

same odds of losing the game due to fumbling a kneel down compared to what played out.
This is the second time some one said this. Has there ever been a fumble on a kneel down before? I can’t remember one.
Has there ever been a defense that failed to cover a WR on an 88-yard TD from a QB of the ilk of Baker Mayfield then followed that up by not covering a wide-open WR on a 66-yard TD from a 37-year-old Joe Flacco in the final 2 minutes of the 4th quarter in back-to-back games to start a season in the history of the NFL?
That's not what I asked.

What's so odd about Chubb not going down? Not that he didn't, but that a similar situation popped up once, he did the right thing, yet heard about it from gamblers and fantasy guys. Check this out. I remembered this while arguing with Hot Sauce Guy about CEH the other day.

Sorry, that's a football IQ thing. I remember (several years ago) when Peyton Manning had a chance to run in a TD but went down at the 1 to win the game. That's guaranteeing your team a win and knowing what you need.

Incidentally, I remember that play because it was the difference between one team winning the league and another...in a total points league. 1st place won the season-long contest by five points. 2nd place had Manning. He runs it in, he wins the league by a single point.

Back in the real world, Chubb should know better. If he doesn't, blame the coaches.
In 2020 against the Houston Texans, Chubb forfeited a score and intentionally went out at the 1 yd line after a 50 some yard run with a minute left. He has been in this situation before and everyone praised him for his "football IQ' then. Cleveland won that game 10-7. So, it would seem that Chubb does know...or at least did. These decisions are easy from the comfort of our couch and even more easy with 20/20 hindsight. I don't blame this loss on Chubb. There's a lot of finger pointing that can be done.

ETA...I typed my response while on the last page and see that Rockaction already posted the reference earlier today...

I agree and I think he didn't know that he could have buried the clock at 00:00 or he would have. He's done it before and doesn't seem to have money and stats as a motive (he is signed through 2024, with a virtual guarantee of making the team because of a 10.8 million dollar dead cap if they cut him, so they likely won't). His not knowing would seem to be Occam's razor here.

They had just had the 2-minute warning, so you put that on the coaches for not telling him. Situational football is mostly all coaching. Now, I am sure the coaches thought, "If we score, we are up 14 and they have Flacco," but they didn't account for a missed XP and their ST blowing it on the onside kick as well. 74 things needed to go wrong after the Chubb score for the Browns to lose, and they all happened. That is why you take the knee and the win. Best to not tempt fate.

I heard on the orange & Brown podcast that the previous time this happened, Chubb was told by Stefanski via Baker's headset not to score
