Well Irish you should be ecstatic that we haven't continued the (or got into anymore) wars.
Actually yes.  Less involvement in the Middle East the better. Big Kudos.

As far as the national debt, I get it it's not important because your guy did it.   So let's leave it at that.

It is important. We just know much of it is carry over from the wars and financial cash.

Or dont you recall "your guys" saying that the debt was just "scratches on a piece of paper" and not worthy of bothering with?

It's not important because the consensus of bipartisan economists says it's not important. I'll take The Economist and Business Insider over the random user post on quora that you were able to find.

I guess I will take the the common sense approach.  Too much debt is not a good thing.  Apparently you think it okay to double the debt in 8 years.  Good for you.

We almost tripled in during Reagan's term so at least it wasn't that bad.  You've got to look on the bright side of things more often.

Heard on NPR this morning that the government program Obama's been running giving loans to renewable energy prototypes/proof of concept/start ups (you know, the thing that funded Solyndra) is in the black. Thanks Obama!

I always forget. Black is the good one right?

You're making the same mistake most people make when thinking about a nation's debt:  the US is a FIAT issuer and therefore its situation is far different from a family or a corporation--both of which don't have the ability to print their own currency.  Obama's done a lot of bad things but increasing the debt isn't one of them IMO.

Every time I hear Obama speak I think history is going to remember him quite fondly.  While the ACA is broke and needs to be fixed, wanting universal health coverage is a concept that our country needed to be dragged into.  Once the dust settles with it and a model's in place that works, Obama will be remembered as the president who brought this concept to our nation.

This a great post.  Thanks.

The guy just never quits bashing those with opposing views to his own.  It's like that's his mission in life.  Push his own agenda while disparaging others.  Very sad to approach things that way,  especially by the leader of the most powerful country in the world.  It's no surprise why this country is so divided now and everyone is so angry.

Good luck, I've tried before.

Flapgreen doesn't deal in specifics. Just vague notions that Obama hates America and somehow caused us to be more divided.

It's not anything Obama specifically says or does. It's just a feeling.

Wonder what that feeling is based on? Hmm...

Yet we have:

Thousands of troops in Iraq.

Thousands of troops in Afghanistan.

Thousands of troops lined up on the South Korea border as NK tests ballistic missiles.

Air strikes and ops in Syria.

Thousands of troops in Turkey.

Cold War with Russia reignited.

Cold War with China started.

Tensions higher in Iran than in recent memory, if ever.

Yeah so glad we aren't at war anymore.  We've never been more involved in the Middle East.  EVER.  At any point in our country's history.  Never more involved than we are today.  It's hard to find a country in the Middle East that we aren't involved in right now.

I totally agree.   It's a giant cluster f over there.   Leave them alone.  let them kill each other.  They like it(killing) & have no regard for human life.   It's a win/win for the middle east people as they can continue the 2000 year war against each other.

perfect for them.

Same economists that said ACA would be revenue neutral?

yep.  Actually the CBO but they can only crunch the numbers that they are given.   It was a giant lie because they think(according to Gruden-guys that wrote the law) most of us are idiots.

Apparently they were right.  The law passed & we still have it.

We've had an air base in Turkey since 1951 and troops in South Korea since 1950. This is not ground-breaking news.

Such a huge opportunity for the first minority president to unit the country and all he's done is widen the divide and stir up anger.  Very sad .

Approval rating in the mid to upper 50's after 8 years in office. Out campaigning for his successor which has become a rare occurrence. Still as smooth and soulful as ever, with a quick wit and disarming smile. Would look great on currency.

I hate the ACA, but outside of that he has done a good job.  I'd be all for repealing the 22nd Amendment right now, that's for sure.

33% of the respondents here think Obama is the worst President in US history?

do we blame teachers for this? clearly teachers aren't spending a single second teaching history/civics to students if people think Obama is the worst President in history, right?

does this mean we can finally ban the useless profession completely? once they no longer have jobs we'll just send them to labor camps, right?  start with the ones that wear glasses and we'll sort the chaff from the wheat after that. shouldn't take long.

@Sconch

my confidence level in the general public has never ebbed so low
