“As of now it’s our biggest game of the year,” Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane said.  :scared:
that would be real neat for them if they could beat the Wild for the first time in almost two years.  must get tired of all the losing.  so cute how this is a big game for them.

Just took a look at the Western Playoff picture.  Looks like a race between the Flames, Blues, Nashville and Kings for 2 wildcard spots.  The Blues have a cake schedule and are likely in.  the Flames play the Kings 4 times still.  Both teams control their own destiny, but I suspect the Kings will pull away (and may even catch the Oilers.  Not sure about Nashville but they are playing pretty good Hockey right now.

I'd say the Flames miss.

Winnipeg should fire their coach. Might still have a shot at a wild card.

Be pretty interesting if the Pacific can take both wild card spots after being so bad in prior years.

they are hoping to win a Cup. you don't need to win a division to do that, as we saw the last 3 years.

2016 Penguins finished 2nd in their division

2015 Blackhawks finished 3rd in their division

2014 Kings finished 3rd in their division
Don't forget Kings in 2012 - 8th Seed

Basically teams with Cup aspirations really only care about getting in.  The league is so tight that just getting in and getting hot sometimes is enough.  Teams like the Blackhawks really only care about the Cup so staying healthy and hitting their stride going into the playoffs is more important than anything else.

No mention of my Avs?  They have won two in a row!!

What a #### call.
Yep. Happening more and more. Goalie out at top of crease. His d-man gently, or not, shoves the opposition into him. Down goes goalie. Up comes referee arm. Happened last night in Toronto too.

I think they need to address this. Maybe make it challengeable. (new word)

Until the post season :coffee:
Yeah yeah yeah.  But this year is different.  The Wild are older, smarter, and better than years past.  (Wait, have I said this before???)

I'll still absolutely fear the Blackhawks in the playoffs until we make that leap.  Sometimes a curse comes upon Minnesota sports.  And those curses last a long time.

Yeah but not this year, the Wild are a really good team. Everything seems to have clicked into place for a deep run. I honestly don't want to see the Hawks play them once the real season starts.

That's fair.  I've watched all but 2 or 3 this year from the Wild and have that strong feeling too.  They look terrific in a whole slew of lines.  But when the real season begins, its a full reset in hockey.  The Wild haven't proven anything yet in the postseason and will have the extra pressure to do so this year.

Crawford was on his game for sure.  Even before the penalty in OT, Suter wasn't playing well IMO. The refs basically gave the Wild the opportunity to get to OT. They should feel fortunate that they scraped out a point in this one.

why?  Wild were better last night.  they were fortunate to get a win in Winnipeg.

lol at NBC/Ed/Doc stopping the replay over and over before it even touches Coyle's stick.  not breaking any news here but the offsides rule is the worst and totally killed the flow of that game to split hairs over a quarter inch that didn't even affect the play.  but if you're going to have it you might want to put a time limit on it or teach your A broadcast team how offsides works.

The obvious answer is the Parise goal should not have been allowed. Additionally, there was obvious interference on Staal for the tying goal. Not sure what you mean about how offsides works.

Homer glasses there Brasky. That was offsides on the 2nd goal and on the 3rd Staal (think it was him) interfered with Hammer, knocking him out of the play at the blue line when the puck was on the other side of the ice.

why would which specific shot that went in matter?  they had the better of the play.  they play that game 7 times they probably win 6.  what do you know, that actually happened in the last 7.

sure.  so what?
 don't act like it didn't matter. That game played 100 times without those calls would be vastly different. Momentum plays a huge part of the game flow, that goal gets called back and the game changes. And you can't say with certainty that either team would win the majority of them.

If Crawford plays that way, the Hawks probably win 6 of 7. Sure, MN had better opportunities, but you also need to consider the Hawks goalie as well. Bottom line to me, 2 of our 3 goals shouldn't have counted. To me, that makes it fair to say we were lucky to get the point we did.
