***OFFICIAL 2009 NFL DRAFT*** (1 Viewer)

watching mcdaniels on NFLN now. first time i've seen him speak. he strikes me as a guy who is in over his head and knows it. seemed nervous.

McCoy to Philly.I'd have preferred a trade down to get a 3rd/4th.
I'm sure they explored it but you can't go wrong NOT trading up and having that guy fall right into your lap. This day should shut donovan up for the offseason. I was listening to a little sports talk radio in between the 1st and 2nd round and they were talking about trading up to make sure they got him (it was Sal Palontonio). Great fortune to have this play out like this.

As crazy as this might sound, Al Davis had a better draft than Jerry Jones today. At least the Raiders came away something, even if it was a pile of garbage. The Cowboys didn't even get that.

Disagree. I'd rather have Roy Williams for a low 1st round pick than Heyward-Bay at the #7 spot. And I think not picking in the 2nd round is better than picking the 30th ranked safety.

I disagree. The Cowboys have 12 picks tomorrow so they can basically grab anyone they want within reason. They will likely come away with a number of contributors but don't have to pay any of them big money. Meanwhile Davis has to pay Darrius Heyward-Bay 7th overall loot, and 2nd round money for a guy that was considered a street free agent until running a fast time three weeks ago.

Well, Jerry is doing his presser right now, and he's very excited about tomorrow because some guys are available who can get on the field for special teams. So, perhaps you're right. The Cowboys will get exactly what they're gonna' pay for.

I know. I'm just disappointed. The Cowboys had the opportunity to fill a huge need at SS and sat twiddling their thumbs.

Some decent finds recently. But, still...Looks like the Cowboys can expect 1 (maybe 2) impact players out of the 12 they'll be drafting.

McDaniels totally looked like a 13 year old that got called to the Vice Principal's office during that NFLN piece.

a few months ago I wrote of having had a similar reaction...my take on mcdaniels
yep, just went and read what you wrote -- we're definitely on the same page here. the guy does not appear to be authoritative, and he appears to lack confidence. it's not the words -- it's the body language and the tone.

15 Michael Mitchell DB Raiders -- Not even graded! Al Davis you are a true maverick!
The "not even graded" also shows an error by whatever source you're referring to. I'm pretty sure they figured they'd have everyone that would go and this is a pretty big oops some boss is grumpy about. Reach or no reach someone was paid to provide info on the picks.(As I said earlier) Mayock had him as a 7th rounder according to Eisen's tweet.

Yahoo didn't have an item on him.CNNSI had to add him to their chart of safeties in their rankings.

Sportsline had him projected in Round 6, but like yahoo had nothing on him (i.e. no hyperlink).

The Ravens just got the steal of the draft. Absolute steal. You suck Detroit.
We'll see, but I love the pick. The Ravens addressed their biggest need without having to reach. There are some concerns about his ability to learn quickly, but in Ozzie & Eric I trust. I'm willing to believe at this point that his background is the cause for his issues & not necessarily a lack of intelligence. If I'm Harbaugh, I tell Oher "See that dorky-looking kid behind you with the ball? Don't let anyone touch him."

IF boss = fan then you are correct. I am pissed if I am a Raiders fan.

Gruden was great today. NFLN needs to keep him.
My wife (who likes football) was watching NFLN's recap with me last night and commented that "Gruden looks like a really fun guy to hang out with." I said yeah, "He's entertaining there, but he's very intense and has got quite an ego, and I'd hate to work with him. I think he's fun and relaxed on the broadcast because he doesn't see himself as a broadcaster or commentator." I agree though, he was a lot of fun to watch and added some good laughs to a broadcast that has a tendency to take itself too seriously.

I got on the Lions for their non-pick of Oher, but upon reconsideration I really like what the Lions are doing. This is smart, patient drafting by a team that has a LOT of needs and knows that they can't expect to fill them all in a single draft. I would think that a fan of a team with a similarly disciplined approach, like the Ravens with Ozzie Newsome, might show a little more appreciation of that.

well then IMO Sportsline and Mayock did a good job. Unsure on cnnsi. Yahoo, not so much. This is a good thing for us. If these sites have 500(?) players ready to be filled in on draft day, then it'll be 600(?) next year. I really think there's bosses of sites out there that don't want this to ever happen again.

I saw him over at USAToday so either them or NFLDraftScout (which does alot of their draft stuff) are on the ball.

Here's one Ravens fan who understands what Detroit is doing. And I'll still understand it if Stafford busts. I personally, the older I get and the more I watch football, think you build a team fron the inside out and defense over offense. But I think Mayhew needs this team to at least try to make a splash with the #1.

anyone record the draft?

i'd like to know how many times the name Mark Sanchez was mentioned in the past 2 days. has to be well in to the hundreds at least.
