Sure, but with so many concurrent discussions going on it's often easy to miss one entirely while you're replying... so I figured I'd like to see if anyone wants to jump into real-time chat. If not, no problem, but thought it might be fun.

 
A day later...I am not happy the Lions passed on Oher, but I will add Pettigrew and Delmas are both solid picks. I just think Oher would have been a better pick considering their porous offensive line. But in terms of the talent, they had a very good day 1.

:shrug: I think we would have been better served by taking Oher, since we probably have the worst line in the NFL. Time will tell if Pettigrew turns out to be a nice pick or if we indeed should have taken Oher. I guess the bright spot in taking Pettigrew is that he's a TE, who will block at least part of the time, and he supposedly is a good blocking TE.My initial reaction to drafting Delmas was "WTF?" But I think I've calmed down since... most everyone seems to think he was the top safety in the draft, and it's one of the many positions we needed to fill, so I can live with that...

I just see Greene as a 3 yards and a cloud of dust runner. He does not have that burst when he is making his cuts, its like he has to slow down significantly when he makes them. That works in college, not so much in the pros.
 
Was anyone watching ESPN just then? Did that reporter in Dallas just say that three guys the Cowboys wanted went off the board before their pick at #51?

 
The Lions getting a mid 4th and a 7th for an 11 spot drop in round 3 is a solid move. They really have a good chance to add some pieces. I also expect them to move back again (at least once) in the next 2 rounds.

:) Great trade by Detroit. They need to build a ton of depth, and that wasn't to drastic of a price to pay to accumulate picks.

I got on the Lions for their non-pick of Oher, but upon reconsideration I really like what the Lions are doing. This is smart, patient drafting by a team that has a LOT of needs and knows that they can't expect to fill them all in a single draft.

They are a rebuilding team with huge needs, and their approach to this draft has been just right. It looks like you've got a competent GM at a minimum with Mayhew. Congrats.

he has been playing it in voluntary workouts, but there is no way dorsey is big enough to play that spot.you are basically telling your 5th overall pick he isnt welcome in the system... very strange

Won't be much of a pass rusher, but he could pay end in the NFL on 1st and 2nd and slide inside on pass plays. Nice pick.

There's a reason why the Bears consistently have good D-line play. It's because they draft D-linemen. The Redskins need to take note of this concept, complex though it is to understand.
