***OFFICIAL 2009 NFL DRAFT*** (2 Viewers)

Anyone know why Duke Robinson fell so far? Accordingly to the scouting reports he was the best guard in the draft and should have gone on day one. :wall:
yeah discussed earlier. ESPN had him #2 and IIRC Bloom liked him alot too.Balco and others(apparently) thought he was too slow.Loadholt fell somewhat too. Walker is still undrafted. I think at least one sooner is going to prove these detractors wrong. That line played better than some pro lines.
I think both Loadholt & Robinson will start. It's just that they are not dynamic players. Both are road-graders & needed to go to run-oriented teams (w/Loadholt flipping to the right side). Both ended up in the perfect position.
I still don't understand why Washington didn't grab Robinson with their last pick given that they need a RT and they are a power running team.
I cannot imagine Robinson trying to block NFL D Ends, and adjusting to the blitzes/stunts on the outside. He would get the running back and quarterback crushed.

You were worried about the UW guard having to play in a phone booth @ Pitt earlier. Robinson is the ultimate phone booth player. There's no way can he play tackle-even on a run heavy team.

Fair enough, but of course the 'Skins could use a RG too, and at least at that position they have the luxury of allowing such a guy to develop for a year or two as Thomas plays out his career.

still burning about Hobbs trade. Sooo could have received more for him
Are you serious? This is the last year of his contract. The Eagles thread talked about having a guy signed cheaply but Hobbs is an unrestricted free agent after this season.
how is "last year of his contract" a reason to trade a guy. He's not going to command an enormous sum of money. This isn't champ bailey.
"last year of his contract" isnt why they traded him, its why they only got 2 5ths for him. They traded him because he no longer projects to be a starter on their team. I liked Hobbs as a corner. He was a good 3rd round pick. However with Springs, Bodden, Wheatley and now Butler....there wasnt a spot for him.
I expect Bodden and Wheatley to start. Springs, Butler and Wilhite are the backups. What is Hobbs role?
you project these guys to start over him (something that hasn't happened) and that's your reasoning for telling me I shouldn't be annoyed with the trade?geesh

Why exactly are you upset with the trade? Is Hobbs better than the other CB's on the roster?

They used the 2 5ths to get a 4th which they used on a Guard. With the Brace pick and this Guard in the 4th, it looks like they are protecting themselves in case Wilfork or Mankins leaves after 2009. Not a bad strategy.

Redskins pick Robert Henson, LB:

There is no overview about this Prospect at this time.
I don't have an overview on NFL.com either.
From Sporting News : Redskins Robert Henson OLB Texas ChristianAs kind of a misfit at safety and not fast enough to consistently line up at linebacker, Henson becomes the classic late-rounder who will need to make his mark working hard on special teams.

If he can develop into a competent Sam, then I'm fine with this, but that's about the only way this guy can fill any sort of need for the team, and that need is immediate.

Back for a little bit, though the store already apparently solid out of all the Huber jerseys.

For those doubting the Bengals picking a punter at 5.06, I couldn't help but notice that the Saints went with a punter at 5.28.

 to my Who Deys.

A little nervous about what RB we'll have available at 6.36 now (I can't believe Jennings will keep sliding) but we do need depth at CB.

2nd day picks are always a question, but Nate Davis to SF - QB of the future?

Not sure what to say about Peerman to BAL. Clearly this year he's the RB4, but what about 2010?

Could easily be Rice / Peerman combo next year for the Ravens.

Aaron Brown to the Lions. BAP strikes again. If you go on the premise of a two-year plan for the Lions, next year's draft will be something like:

OT-OT-C-G-OT-C

Not sure how I feel about Nate Davis. I like the guy and he's a proven winner, and he's got a cannon. Size is a question mark, IMO. I think if he's in the right situation (and SF could be that situation), he could be very productive. We'll see.

Is Gruden on staff now for the Bengals? He keeps saying "we" when he's talking about their draft :lmao:

NFLN guy is goofin' on NE selecting a long snapper, but if the guy is good 6th round is totally reasonable. The Bengals drafted Brad St. Louis like 10 years or so ago in the 7th round and he's been well worth it.

Broncos got their 6th round QB -Tom Brandstarter. Now all McDaniels has to do is coach him up and make him into the next Tom Brady.
He has the physical tools, just not the results. That is not a good combo. The two games I broke down, he did not look good (Rutgers and the bowl game). McDaniels has talent to work with, just call me skeptical.
Looks like a career backup.
He will have a career? The people around Fresno St couldnt wait for him to be replaced.
"Career" meaning I don't think he'll ever be much more than a spot starter. His career could be 1 season or 10 seasons or cut in training camp :lmao:

Curtis Painter drafted by the Colts. Looks like Sorgi's got some competition.

Did I miss something? How is Rashad Jennings still on the board? That can't be possible, can it? I know he comes from a small school(Liberty), but he is a quick powerful runner. Did he have a bad pro day or something? I must have missed the pick. Bloom has him as the 7th ranked running back coming in to the draft. :)

Shhhhhhh :lmao:Let him drop some more!-QG

I'm hoping he drops to the Texans. :)

I know Marvin lewis says character is a big deal, but he continues to ignore it:

On Scott:

"2008: Finishing 18 month of probation for giving false information to a police officer during a traffic stop. 2005: Central Arkansas dismisses Scott from the team for striking a coach who was trying to break up a fight during a spring practice. 2002: High School dismisses him from team before senior season for involvement in an off-campus fight"

well at least he's the right TYPE of RB. Can't believe they passed over Jennings though. Wonder what's up with that - did he sneak a bottle of Buckler into his dorm at Liberty or something?!?

On to round 7. Here's to hoping they grab Canfield here. Wouldn't mind seeing a FB either.

Please Bengals, hire a driver for the guy:Here it is, the good and the bad...

he has character issues;Scott won the 2008 Harlon Hill Trophy in a landslide, getting the third-highest vote total in the 23-year history of the trophy. He had finished runner-up in the voting in 2007 to Danny Woodhead. In that year, Scott broke the league’s single-season rushing record with 2,165 yards and set a pair of NCAA Division II single-season records with 39 total touchdowns and 234 points scored.1Scott’s NFL prospects are tarnished by his off-the-field issues. He was kicked off his high school team at Vernon because of an off-campus fight after his junior season. He also was dismissed from the Central Arkansas University team for hitting a coach, along with a few other issues. He’s also been arrested for some traffic-related misdemeanors, and he’s currently finishing out an 18-month probation for failing to identify himself during a traffic stop in Abilene in the spring of 2007
