Don't be ridiculous. There's no TE in this draft who Danny likes to have steaks with, so that won't be a problem.I just had a scary thought....KC just traded Gonzo. I hope to God the 'skins wouldn't lump Cooley into a package to move up and trade w/ KC to get Sanchez since they now have a need at TE. The trade scenarios involving Cooley for Cutler are one thing...trading him to get a shot in the dark in the draft is frightening.

drafted Fred Davis last year. So we're all set if he trades Cooley.

he sounds like the 2nd coming of Tim Hasslebeck. perhaps a gig backing up henry burris in saskatchawan is in his futurenittanylion said:It's not funny, it's silly...and it needs to stop. This is closest I'm going to come to outing the folks I know within the Redskins Organization: I know folks who work out Colt every single day and who are personally in charge of his daily training regimen and his short and long term physical developmental goals. For all intents and purposes, Colt Brennan is a less-talented Alex Smith (49ers), and a big part of the reason he fell so far in the Draft was because he drew those physical comparisons, and Alex Smith has pretty much busted due to his physical limitations that don't allow him to complete difficult but necessary throws at the NFL Level. Some Teams learn from other Teams mistakes, and some, like the Redskins, don't. If the Redskins hadn't drafted Colt Brennan, he would have gone undrafted and been a Street Free Agent a year ago Monday, and probably not passed a tryout for any NFL Team. Here are the main problems with Colt: He's not the genetic prototype to succeed at the position, and the folks in charge of his physical development have come to the conclusion that his physical limitations cannot be fixed by any kind of training, without negatively impacting other areas of his physique that would limit the things he can do well now, and his existing skill set that he's trained most of his life in. He lacks strength and muscle mass in his core and trunk and lower body to generate the torque and velocity needed to make throws like the deep out. It's not that he can't get the ball there - it's just that he can't get it there fast enough to beat a NFL-Caliber Starting CB to the point of attack. The speed of his throws isn't faster than an NFL Starting CB's closing speed on a thrown ball. What this translates to is that the field becomes quite a bit shorter, and more narrow when he's playing QB. Defenses close in on the line of scrimmage, take away the sidelines, and funnel plays to the middle where they have an advantage. With less field to defend, the Defense has more options, and the offense has less. That leads to predictability, and heightens the percentage for unforced errors - that means generating turnovers without needing to generate pressure - Colts own limitations will create all the mismatch a defense needs to take the ball away by turnover or on downs. The things they need to develop with Colt to get him to be able to snap his body and generate that torque and velocity directly impact his mobility due to his genetic bodytype/frame. He'd become bottom heavy, limiting his speed and agility and negatively impact his quickness to where he needs to be on the field to see plays develop, then set his feet and make an accurate throw before the pass rush got to him. Colt is not a drop back, pocket passer - he's spent years rolling out and throwing on the move, as his lateral movement works with the receivers patterns to develop openings in the defense. That's his game, and not something to alter at the highest level of football without having to put in years to see it come to fruition. Muscular Development in the core, trunks, hips and legs - on his particular genetic physique/body type, limit his agility and quickness to get in position and set up fast enough to avoid being pressured at NFL Level speed, even with solid protection from an Offensive Line, from fast and quick DL's and LB's.An NFL Starting-Caliber QB literally has less than 5 seconds to read the defense, take the snap, go through his progressions and make an accurate throw. Colt can't make all the throws, and the physical development he needs to make to make those throws that he can't, would slow him down to the point that the Defense would be all over him before he had a chance to make them.Colt has a shot - definitely in the Arena League, and possibly the CFL, but physically, he's never going to be a complete NFL QB, and without World Class NFL Starting WR's creating bigger than normal windows for him to throw to by creating bigger than normal separation, he just can't beat the closing speed of NFL Caliber Starting DB's to his passes.Plain and simple, that's the brutal truth about Colt.

Not so fast. When the Steelers won their first Super Bowl with Ben it was in spite of him, not because of him. He threw for 17 TDs, 9 Ints, and less than 2,500 yards, AND he had a horrible Super Bowl.TankRizzo said:The difference is the Steelers and Pats actually HAVE a franchise QB worth keeping. I dread this draft.

I think the Redskins have pretty much burned their bridge with Jason Campbell. Despite whatever they say, the lack of a contract extension, the pursuit of Cutler, and now the love affair with Sanchez says all you need know about their opinion of Jason Campbell.I think they are trading up for Sanchez. I don't really have an opinion about whether it is good or not. Obviously if Sanchez develops into a good qb, it will be ok. But as usual, the Redskins will overpay for him. Snyder said he will always be aggressive. And that means paying through the nose.Strike while the iron is hot I say. At this point I don't know if anything good can come from keeping him. If he does great, we've probably pissed him off enough that he isn't going to want to re-sign. If he plays poorly we won't re-sign him. If he has another mediocre year, we're in the same boat, I don't want to pay to see even more, he's NOT a rookie anymore, I don't know why people treat him like he's a rook. Get something for him while we can.Now so are the Seahawks?Maybe we can trade him to USC....Jets interested in Campbell?
Actually, the Culter and Sanchez flirtations say loud and clear that the Redskins front office don't think Colt is a starting qb. If they thought he was, they wouldn't be trying to bring in a "franchise qb".buster c said:I'm the biggest Campbell basher in this thread, yet I would cringe if they brought in Dirty Sanchez and his 16 collegiate starts. This is the guy whose college head coach said should return to school. And Snyder trying to convince us that he doesn't chase the 'hot guy' is the laugh of the day. If we could get pick #52 for Jason, I'd pull that trigger. Use it for OL help. we can just as easily stumble to 5 wins with Collins & Colt under center than with JC. maybe take a late round flyer on the Mich St QB for developmental purposes. wasn't Colt Zorn's boy? throw him out there and see what he can do. I don't think he's the answer, but we have nothing to lose in finding that out, do we?
It feels like there are about 100 ways for this draft to go wrong and only a handful of ways for it to go right. It's not that I'm sure they'll blow it, but I fear they will. In a way that's worse. In the immortal words of Red from Shawshank Redemption, "Hope is a dangerous thing."
Or maybe the next 20 years under Snyder.I also think the Redskins are moving toward the Raider method of hiring coaches. You can't find an established head coach or even a hot coordinator that will agree with the front office structure, so you have to go with unproven coaches and hope you stumble upon a Gruden or Shanahan. In between, you get the Kiffins and Callahans.T Bell said:This is a frighteningly realistic scenario. It was nice of you not to mention Bugel. The Raiders at have least two advantages working in their favor. 1) their approach worked before and won them championships; and2) they can claim senility if it doesn't work.Or maybe the next 20 years under Snyder.I also think the Redskins are moving toward the Raider method of hiring coaches. I heard the Redskins don't want to trade away next years first round pick. Maybe they are angling toward getting a REALLY high pick next year. That way they don't have to give up as much to trade up.It feels like there are about 100 ways for this draft to go wrong and only a handful of ways for it to go right. It's not that I'm sure they'll blow it, but I fear they will. In a way that's worse. In the immortal words of Red from Shawshank Redemption, "Hope is a dangerous thing."
1. Going to take more than Campbell and pick 1.13 and a late pick next year to move up that high in the draft. 2. Look response 1...3. Orakpo could fall beyond Cleveland...he does have some injury concerns. Think where Crabtree goes will efffect where Orakpo goes. One could fall to 8+.4. To many variables. I like Oher at 1.13. He looked raw at the combine but his pro day workout looked improved. Skins should take Oher...but it wouldnt surprise me if he goes before us.5. If they get Sanchez they better trade Campbell. If they dont Campbell will post a close to pro bowl effort this year and get out of dodge next year and we will be left with bascially a rookie starting QB for 2010.Is it me or does it seem the Redskin brass is using Campbell as a scapregoat? Seems like they need to cover their ####...especially Zorn. Campbell's biggest asset is his arm strength which was hardly used in the second half of the season. I even remember a TV commentator remarking that the redskins never go long. Think it was the SF game. Zorn doesnt seem to want to coach to the teams strenths....a la Gibbs. Seems like he wants to implement his system and match it to players he likes...a la Steve Spurrier.Regarding Cooley...trading him makes good sense since they drafted Davis. But trading a fan and clubhouse favorite is a nice wayto kill moral and start us off on the wrong foot.Last year when Lord Cerrato dropped P Frost and kept P Brooks I knew we were in trouble. Taking the mentality that my players are betting than the players drafted by another is a disaster waiting to happen. Now they are trying to get rid of Campbell and Cooley and replace them with Sanchez and Davis? Why? This will push the team back years. One thing Id like to see is the phasing out of Randle El. Nice guy. Funny. But after watching him last year he seemed to lose some speed and his punt returns were not the old Randle El. On most other teams Randle el would be a 3rd or 4th WR yet we usher him out as our 2. Trade Randle el for a 4th round pick and get those rookies (grrrrrrr) in there.I look at our team needs as this. OT/DE/OLB/OL/RB. Lets see if Lord Cerrato picks players that can impact our bottom line or pick players he thinks are the best on the board but who will sit on the bench. Us fantasy owners know you have to have the best mix of needs and best player available to win. Question? What if MIchael Crabtree is available at 1.13?From what I can piece together, if the Redskins don't stay put, they are willing to move up to get these players: Sanchez, Orakpo, Curry. To get any of these, they have to move into the #2-#6 slot. To get that, they are willing to move pick #13, Campbell, Cooley, and/or some non-firstround picks in next years draft. In the #2-5 slot, all except KC may have an interest in Campbell, and would value him as a #2 pick. All except CLE would have an interest in Cooley. Most likely scenarios:1) Draft Sanchez. Likely trades: a) Campbell, the #13, and a late round 2010 to STL or SEA for draft rights to Sanchez.2) Draft Curry. Likely trade is with STL for Cooley and the 13th, plus the Skins get a #4 this year.3) Draft Orakpo. Likely trade with CLE. One option would include 2010 picks. However, I think the Browns are more likely to get the #17 pick from the Jets straight up for Quinn, who is probably better than the Jets settling for the 3rd best QB in this years' draft.4) 3 way deal with CLE if Sanchez is still on the board. Jets get Quinn and Cooley, Browns get Campbell and the 13th, Skins get Sanchez and the Jets 3rd (?) rounder. Jets pickup Moreno at #17. Browns get Oher at #13. Skins grab OT, LB, De with 3rd rounder.5) ** Edit to add rumor mill of Campbell and 13th to Jags for Sanchez and a 4th.My money is on Snyder going with #1 and the trade to STL. They have no use for the #2 pick, since they can get a cheaper and just as productive OT at #13 in Oher/Smith, plus see if Campbell is worthy to be Bulger's backup.
Yes, they are.At the end of last year Vinnie asked all the coaches what was responsible for the team's terrible 2-6 finish. Almost all the coaches told them it was offensive line injuries. In their infinite wisdom, Vinnie and Dan decided the problem was the QB.Is it me or does it seem the Redskin brass is using Campbell and as scapregoat?
I'm starting to think that, if events don't prevent Vinnie and Dan from screwing up this draft, we might want to do something along the lines of the tea party gatherings on April 15 (and no, I don't want politics in this thread, this idea is better than politics).A large group of fans, each paying homage to Vinnie and Dan at Redskin Park, each individually leaving one trinket signifying their respect for our team's leaders, forming one large monument of respect: A pile of 1,000 douchebags.
vinne and dan really piss me off!If they trade away next years #1 this draft will be a total disaster. If they do...Fatness...we should get a revolt going. Maybe the season ticket holders who are locked into a contract can get out and do it on the grounds of incompetence my owner and management.:( vinne and dan really piss me off!I'm starting to think that, if events don't prevent Vinnie and Dan from screwing up this draft, we might want to do something along the lines of the tea party gatherings on April 15 (and no, I don't want politics in this thread, this idea is better than politics).A large group of fans, each paying homage to Vinnie and Dan at Redskin Park, each individually leaving one trinket signifying their respect for our team's leaders, forming one large monument of respect: A pile of 1,000 douchebags.
I do sometimes give Dan some room to make mistakes. He's like us...Redskin fans. He's just a rich one that can afford to make mistakes since he owns the team. Now Vinnie...good ol Vinnie...Im hoping this draft will be his boom or bust. Wonder if we could give the Ravens our first round pick if we could snag Ozzie Newson from them.I'm preparing torches and sharpening pitchforks while riding the train to Manhattan....oh, and I'm upping the ante: DoucheBags are out; Colostomy Bags are IN!!!Daniel and Vinny have been pissing me off for quite some time now, and I've long thought about organizing a fan-based act of civil unrest. After I won a National Fantasy Football Contest in 2006, I considered using the $$$ to take out a full-page ad in the Washington Post or Times, calling out the two buffoons......fast forward to today, and things have only gotten worse...but with them, ironically, the economy has too, and the Post is on the verge of financial ruin. Advertising rates are at an all-time low......no joke, I'm giving this idea SERIOUS consideration again. Certainly open to suggestions for content, and spearheading this project if anyone else wants to get on board.Oh, how I HATE those two morons!!!
Thank you Nittany for the laugh in this our darkest hour......oh, and I'm upping the ante: DoucheBags are out; Colostomy Bags are IN!!!
maybe I'm on the acceptance phase of the stages of grief.

LOL.....nasty!Last year I made a list of the players I thought the Redskins were going to pick. When they picked Fred Davis I threw that pad of paper across the room (I thought they should have gotten Quinton Groves). Maybe I should make my list this year on a cinder block and go to Redskin park...

*FSU Homer Alert*So JLC's latest blog posting brings up Everette Brown. Not sure I am crazy excited about him. I'd love Oher (or any of the top 4 tackles) or Orakpo at 13. I would love a trade down from 13 even more.
