Best thing I saw at camp today... Shady looked stout in 1-on-1 blocking drills.... Him and Weaver looked the best in drill.... Eckel and Bright couldn't block to save their lives...

Also Westy out running routes after practice... Cut well, and caught everything...

Philly guys...I'm seeing McCoy lighting up the training camp reports. Anyone that's actually been at camp, can you give me your opinion on how Shady's looked?

Juqua Parker busted for pot

According to the Morning Call, Parker was a passenger in a vehicle that had been stopped for a traffic violation. He allegedly was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana.
How does that happen? Was he dangling the pot out of his pocket? Seems odd that being stopped for a traffic violation would yield any insight into what he had in his possession....

I havent been to camp yet, but every television report shows him constantly. IMO he looks like a younger version of BWest but faster. He also did well in blitz pick up yesterday.

Smell of pot in the car when pulled over is a possibility.

Could actually be a legitimate case of racial profiling.

You are aware that he's black right?

Guy is the real deal.... Quick, doesn't drop a thing, and was very impressed with his blocking the past two days.... If he gets a crease, he's gone....

I love these little notes from training camp:

Aug 6 2009 | 8:47:13 am

Coach Andy Reid praised OT Winston Justice , who has replaced injured Shawn Andrews. "Winston is having a very good camp," he said. "He's very confident, very aggressive, growing up."

Aug 6 2009 | 9:18:31 am

Apparently rookie WR Jeremy Maclin is a quick learner. During an 11-on-11 drill he beat two defenders down the left sideline to catch an 80-yard TD from QB Donovan McNabb .

Aug 6 2009 | 9:48:38 am

The linemen are getting physical. DE Trent Cole ran over OL Todd Herremans with a bull rush. And OL Mike McGlynn stunned DT Brodrick Bunkley with a shot to the chops.

A friend of a friend sent out a camp update and really praised McCoy and Ingram. He said they had a lot of 2 TE formations with Ingram and Celek too.

I forget who said it on TV but they predicted Ingram would be the starter by mid season. They said that he is looking absolutely fantastic. Extremely athletic and lots of body control. I am keeping my fingers crossed that we may actually have a real tight end on this team for the first time since KJ.

 The very white Todd Herremans was driving the vehicle and turned the wrong way down a one way street at midnight with his headlights off. Parker was in the passenger seat.

Get out of our thread! :sadbanana:

Eagles tried to nab Burgess

The New England Patriots have acquired former Eagles defensive end Derrick Burgess from the Oakland Raiders. However, according to one report, the Patriots weren't Burgess' only suitor.Adam Schefter reports the Eagles were in the mix for his services.New England gave up a third-round pick in 2010 and a fifth-rounder in 2011, reports Michael Lombardi of the National Football Post.Schefter, via his Twitter account, says the Eagles offered a third-round pick and an unidentified player. So who might the player have been? It's only a guess, but Reggie Brown and Hank Baskett come to mind. The Eagles have a surplus at receiver, and the question all camp has been -- will the team keep both those guys on the roster?I know some of you might mention Sheldon Brown, but in my opinion, that would be a pretty high price to pay. Brown has looked good in camp and is a starting cornerback. Burgess' role with the Eagles' defense would likely be as a rotation guy and situational pass rusher. Don't get me wrong. It would have filled a need, but I don't think they'd have agreed to include Sheldon Brown.Burgess turns 31 next week and had 3.5 sacks in 10 games last season. In his first three seasons with the Raiders, Burgess piled up 35 sacks, an impressive number. In 2005, he had a Pro Bowl season, leading the league with 16 sacks. Burgess also went to Hawaii in 2006 when he had 11 sacks. The Eagles drafted him in the third round of the 2001 draft. Burgess had six sacks as a rookie. He signed a five-year, $17.5 million with Oakland in 2005.ESPN's Chris Mortensen was the first to report that the Eagles could have interest in Burgess, back in May.

They made a mistake here...Burgess would be a definite upgrade to their current d-line.

10:54:31 am WR DeSean Jackson has been initially diagosed with a hyper-extended right knee. He'll undergo more tests this afternoon. There is no update on OG Todd Herremans, who also limped off the field this morning.

In other injury-related news, rookie tight end Cornelius Ingram underwent an MRI on his knee Saturday morning. No word on the results.

Those players who did not practice Saturday morning included running back Brian Westbrook, offensive lineman Shawn Andrews, tight end Matt Schobel, linebacker Stewart Bradley, defensive end Victor Abiamiri and defensive tackle Trevor Laws.

Eagles Working Out Tight Ends?

Towards the end of today's practice, some of the Eagles coaching staff was working out several players on an area adjacent to one of the practice fields. Judging by the routes the three unknown players were running, they appear to be tight ends. No word yet on their identities, but stay tuned to PhiladelphiaEagles.com for more information when it comes in.

So, Ingram MRI saturday morning + Eagles working out TE's Saturday morning =

Not much, and Spads in a PR mouthpiece for the Iggles, but I pulled this off his training camp live blog at http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/index.html

12:07 Dave Spadaro:

Jackson has hyperextended knee and Ingram swelling in knee. Both will be fine.

Hope he's right. Also:

Dave Spadaro:

Westbrook worked out again with AR after practice and looked great.

in 2010.

The Ingram injury sucks for sure, but what i want to know is when is the head case OL getting back on the field? You know, the looney Andrews brother. Whats his deal? He misses an entire year due to who knows what and now cant even get on the practice field?

This is the master plan this year? Rely on the unreliable?

I was at camp today and D-Jax never got carted off he walked off down the sideline over to the tent between field #2and#3 he walked right by me had a very slight limp nothing much. he even stoped and was joking with the linemen. he then got into the cart with a few guys and went to the locker room . there was only about 15 mins of practice left. It didnt seem like much at all.

Ingram is gone for the season with a acl 2nd one in 2 years not looking good.

UGH...Ingram tearing the same ACL again pretty much makes his career in jeopardy IMHO. Sucks. Still wishing we pulled the trigger on Jared Cook like so many of us were screaming at our TVs for them to do. DeSean we have to be really careful with...let's see him back on the practice field before I start getting calm again. :)

better to deal with injuries now than later. At least replacements will get 1st team reps and we'll find out quickly if they can hang. Rather than being thrown into the fire in the middle of the season.

Too bad for Ingram, hopefully he can return to full health next season. With all the weapons on offense, I think the team will survive.

Andy Reid said DeSean could have practiced today if not for the field conditions  I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing him in preseason games.

You come off so negative, I hope you actually get some enjoyment out of following football, it doesn't seem that way.I would guess the "master plan" is to give Shawn every chance to play if he can stay healthy. Of course it's no sure thing, but the guy was a pro-bowler, what do you want them to do, cut him? If he can't play, than they can (not in any particular order):1. Move Stacy to RT and start Max Jean Gilles at RG2. Start Winston Justice at RT (it has been said he's having "the camp of his life", I'm sure he'll have to prove it in preseason if he wants the job)3. Sign Jon RunyanEven if Shawn missed the entire season again I think the line is a good bit better than last year. Hopefully he can get back on the field, being as he injured his back again, I'm sure they're not going to rush him back until he's healthy. Just hope for the best and see what happens.

:) Buddy is notoriously negative. Wish he'd move to Cincinatti or Detroit where his negativelity would make more sense.

Crap, just found out about Kolb....and now you're telling me Cole is injured too?

WTF.

It's brutally hot out here today, so I could definitely see heat exhaustion as a factor, but come on now. This team is breaking down like an old FORD.

ETA: missing out on Derrick Burgess really hurts if Cole's injury is more than they are letting on right now. They couldn't top a 5th rounder in 2010 to beat out the Pats for his services?

when is abiamiri supposed to return to action? he's supposed to start, isn't he? with parker's drug charges and any kind of fallout, the need for him to get reps becomes all the more acute....

Kolb Update: Not Bad, Day-to-Day

Eagles backup quarterback Kevin Kolb left the field this morning with what was later diagnosed as a sprained MCL in his left knee, the team said.

Defensive end Trent Cole left practice with an AC sprain in his left shoulder. The Eagles said neither Kolb nor Cole will play in Thuresday's preseason opener.

Kolb appeared to get bumped into pass rushers by his blockers. One of those rushers, defensive end Bryan Smith, said Kolb "might have gotten his toe stepped on." As he left the locker room to be examined, Kolb told Fox 29 that offensive tackle King Dunlap rolled up on him. He said he did not know the extent of the injury.

Initially, Kolb walked off the field to seek medical attention. He was examined and then driven off on a cart. As Kolb was being tended to, Cole left the field and also was taken by cart to the locker room.

The Birds have been hit with a bunch of knee injuries already, including season-ending ACL tears to linebacker Stewart Bradley and rookie tight end Cornelius Ingram. Ingram, by the way, left Lehigh Monday to visit famed orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews in Alabama. DeSean Jackson hyperextended a knee Saturday but was back on the field for yesterday's light afternoon workout. Jackson was a full participant Monday.

Kolb, Cole, Jackson all seem ok.

Not getting any O-line continuity this camp :goodposting:

Bradley and Ingram gone.

Am I the only one dreading Kolb becoming the starting QB in the future? I am pretty much expecting a football dark age in Philadelphia when he gets the job and I was kind of relieved when he got injured...

Why would you dread something that probably isn't going to happen?

The Kolb injury had nothing to do with the heat - it happened early in the morning practice, and looked to be one of those things that could happen on any play. I also thought we offered a 3rd and a player for Burgess, which is higher than a 5th?

No - I didn't think Kolb looked very good on the other occasions where I've seen him play, and I'm not convinced that he's the QB of the future at all. That being said, I thought AJ looked terrible today - maybe it's because he just doesn't get many reps anymore as the #3, but he was hanging in the pocket way to long.

Burgess- we did offer more than a 3rd. This talk about "missing out" on Burgess is ludicrous. He had a couple good seasons and he's barely more than a role-player at this point. Sounds like more sour grapes drummed up by Eskin to the masses in an uproar. And yes, I was listing to WIP the day of the trade to hear his idiocy on the matter. Stupid rental car with no Sirius....
