Official 2010 Dallas Cowboys In Season Thread (2 Viewers)

Glad to see McCann back. They are too stubborn to cut Barron, even though they should have left him for dead in the Skins visting locker room.
They think Houck can coach him up.I dunno. Nobody could coach him up in St Louis apparently. He is what he is.

That's exactly right. He is what he is. I think he's beyond being "coached up."It erks me to no end why they don't just cut bait and move on. There is no reason not to other than to save face. Brewster showed great promise in the last preseason game against Miami's no. 1's and held his own quite well. I have no earthly idea why they think Barron deserves a roster spot or holds any value whatsoever. Maybe once Sam Young gets healthy they'll reconsider if they're looking at it from a depth standpoint. Barron is an absolute disaster.

Interesting.

After three teams, Miami, Philadelphia and Baltimore asked him to join their practice squads, CB Bryan McCann elected to come back to Dallas since being released from the Ravens roster.

"I felt like I had a good opportunity to be pulled up on the 53 man roster sometime soon," McCann said after Friday's practice. "It feels good to be back."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd venture to say that it was more than a "feel."

Meanwhile, I'd also venture to say that Barron getting spot duty to give Columbo a breather on Sunday only spells "last chance" in proving his worth to this team.

Stay tuned.

Let's see if that helps them stop Julius Peppers. I'm still steaming over that stupid, stupid, stupid loss at Washington. I can't even believe they played like that, what freaken garbage. With all the money they're spending, why didn't they just keep Flozell Adams? You keep a piece of crap like Roy Williams and you can't keep a guy who's a Cowboy lifer in Adams for what we hoped was a SB run? So you cut him in bring in a bum from the Rams that cost us the game? You bring in no kicker?W/e, I was one of the few guys supporting this coaching staff last year but not this year. What I saw last week was bullcrap, on the players that were on the field and play calling to go with it.The Bears freaken stink, a good team would beat them by 20 plus points. Cutler looked like garbage throwing for a lot of yards against a college defense last week and Chicago couldn't run the ball.Losing to Washington like that was nothing short of disgusting. I still can't believe the last play of the 1st half, I mean a TD for Washington, wow. I've seen better middle school football decisions and that's not being too harsh.Edit to add: I had to add too that we got rid of F. Adams for a few reasons but one was he just made too many mistakes, cost us too many penalties. OK, I get that. Enough is enough so we're going to get rid of him and go another direction. We're going to try and not beat ourselves this year and see if that route is better. So what do we do? We bring in the only guy in the league that has been penalized more than him? It's like when we got rid of TO because we wanted to change the attitude in the locker. I got that. Did we bring in Chad Ocho or some other guy like a TO that would be a distraction in a negative way? Of course not, that would be stupid or we should have just kept TO in the first place right.Same thing with this. Why cut Adams and then turn around and bring in a guy that is actually worse at causing penalties. For money? Please, they waste and spend money as much or money than anybody and Jones will die a billionaire, his goal is to win a SB, especially this year. There's a lot of stupidity going on in Dallas and I don't know when it started exactly but getting guys like Roy Williams for a 1st and 3rd, drafting running backs in the 1st round like a Felix Jones and even Dez Bryant are not winning moves. You don't win with drafting those types of players, you win with guys in the trenches.Did you guys see how that 1st rounder blocked in Washington last week? His 1st game in the NFL and he took on Ware. Ware had some good plays but all in all, Williams looked outstanding. That's how you build a team, from the inside out. Felix Jones and Dez Bryant......Roy Williams for a 1st and 3rd, we get what we deserve and then start guys like Barron.I'm not kidding, the guy should have been given a 1 way plane ticket to anywhere he wanted to go from Washington and that be the end of his stay in Dallas. Watching that play again this morning has me amped up again. How do you block like that knowing this is the last play of the game? How do you do that?

I agree that Barron is not a quality starter in the league. However, there are not a lot of guys that can play that position just sitting out there waiting for a phone call. Each team covets the tackle position, especially left tackle. He's on the right, so there are more potential replacements there.

If you watch the play, he gets ZERO help. Barber screwed up by not chipping and Leonard Davis was right beside him and didn't block anyone. Either of those players should have helped based on the way Barron was playing. I blame this on the coaches as much as I do the player.

I agree it was disgusting to watch them lose that game. Let's see how they react to Chicago this week.

It's time to fire Wade. Do it now and write this season off. Offer Cowher 100billion dollars to come back to coaching.

This team sucks.

Double digit loss next week for sure.

Horrible decision. The problem with this team is that it has two coaches. Wade coaches the defense, which is the strength of the team. Garrett coaches the offense which is the problem with this team. Why fire Wade Phillips? How is this mess his fault? Cowher coaches a 4-3 defense too. This team has been building a 3-4 for 6 years now. No way. If they are bringing someone in, I would like to see them bring in John Gruden. He would make magic happen with Romo and this offense. Bring in any hot young 3-4 assistant. This would be a super bowl team.

oh bull####. ware can run in a 4-3. The rest of the 3-4 parts that are 3-4 specialists are expendable.

I forgot who I was talking to. :towelwave: It would be really dumb to switch to a 4-3 when our two best players are best suited for 3-4 outside linebacker.

My thoughts...

Romo just doesnt seem right. He was missing really easy targets and putting the WR and TE in really bad positions to get killed over the middle.

The 3 headed monster at RB looks really ineffective. I think that is 100% playcalling. Garrett is the suck. He is terrible. He calls a horrible game every week and has for three years straight.

Dez looks awesome. Austin looks awesome. Roy still kills us at least once a game. Every time he makes a catch he gets up and acts like he won the super bowl. Have some friggin class #####. I hate that guy.

The defense wore themselves out. The first half they were dynamic. The second half they were invisible. The secondary gives up way too many plays and isnt as good as advertised.

Penalties. Penalties. Penalties.

Turnovers. Turnovers. Turnovers.

We have tons of penalties. Every...single...game.

We have tons of turnovers...every...single...game...and we dont get any on defense.

The offense is offensive. We, the fans, have said that the playcalling has been horrible in the past. Same old, same old. Romo had a handful of throws that he just plain missed and that cost us as well.

The stupid penalties are just maddening. The lack of discipline falls squarely on the coaching staff. This season is starting out to be a massive waste of talent. :sigh:

I truly hope something changes and soon, because the status-quo is going to make for a very, very long season.

BTW, update on Jenkins?

I'm sorry if you throw this 3-4 4-3 conversion stuff you you are just arguing for status quo. If you can play football you can play anywhere.

Wade is a total coaching abortion. I was against the hire and I was against him at every point. It's as good a time as any to prove JG has a bag of nothing as well. The season is over. Period. Best to sort out the staff while you can.

the Cowboys are a bad running team. and not because they cant run, but becasue garrett goes away from it every game. he gets antsy. pound the rock idiot!

penalties in the red zone, awesome.

nice challenge on the TD Wade. why do HC's continue to give away timeouts?

we were getting pressure on cutler early, they lost their LT, and we quit getting pressure on them.

the bears outplayed us, and outcoached us big time. Martz>>>>>>>Garrett in this game.

meh, this could be a 7-9 year. take a look at the remaining schedule.

This team had questions going in; kicker, O-line, S position. So far 2/3 have come back to bite this team in the ### with safety play not doing anything spectacular. Garrett really deflates this team defense gets worn out from quick 3 and outs. It was obvious that this team folded with the missed FG, I knew it was over at that point. Even with all that has went wrong I think Giants lose leaving Cowboys 1 game out of NFC East lead.

Jenkins only has bruise should be fine and Witten has concussion.

How does Garrett expect a RB to get in any kind of rythym when barber, felix and choice are always in and out of the lineup. One of the RB's is lucky to get 10 carries a game, good luck with that .... :boxing:

Right now 5-11 would be a miracle. Two of the three easiest games are behind this thing.

I actually figure Dallas might be a favorite only three more times.

I understand the emotional response after going 0-2 in two close games, but this is ridiculous. Dallas has enough talent to beat any team in the league. The offense is moving the ball but not getting in the endzone. They will. The defense is not playing horribly. I don't expect a big line next week against Houston, but as I think they will win outright, I'm laying down significant units on the Cowboys next week. They have underperformed and they will be desperate. Houston will be walking on air and ripe for a smack-down.

The main problem with the Romo/Barber era has been red zone production. It's a fatal flaw. Dallas finished 2nd in yards but 19th in scoring average last year. And you can't blame Folk for much of that. Garrett does fine getting 20 to 20. With all the weapons it is difficult to shut down the offense in the open field, but get this thing to the redzone where defenses can keep the soft skill guys in front of them they shut down. The precursors to this was easily seen in the last Parcells year. Worst team on 3rd and short and 4th and short, and they never addressed it. Barber for what he is is a horrific short yardage back. Perhaps the worst the NFL has ever seen with the carries he has. Seriously. And behind him is Choice and Felix, neither of which are any better. Then there is the underlying softness of the philosophy that Wade instills. There's no drive, no push, no fire in this thing. You have guys like Dez and Felix instead of real winners like Jharai Evans. I do wonder if this thing ever gets better with Jerry alive. He's built the franchise to the point where it can never be sold in my lifetime. We are totally at the mercy of his family at this point, and to the level they want to stay hands on.

 Culdeus has always taken the glass is half empty approach to the Cowboys. Last year after losing to the Broncos he wrote that any chances of playoffs were squandered. Sure there is alot of cause for concern at this point but its only 12% into the season and the Cowboys are 1 game out of NFC East lead and all NFC East teams are significantly flawed.

5-11 might be ridiculous, but so is this. a solid Texans team at home, no thanks. i see the Cowboys going into the bye 0-3

Redskins were moving the ball at will against the Texans, the question really is can the Dallas defense slow down the Texans. At this point I am very concerned about their ability to get stops.

on a positive note, the g-men and skins lost. the lions almost beat the iggles, dang it.

as things stand right now the NFC East is wide open. woopity doo!

Would you care to place a wager on this? I will take the over on 5 wins, so 5 or less and you win.

I think you will see the desperation next week. You will get their best performance of the season. Time to set small goals, like getting back to .500 asap. Keep the faith Cowboys fans.

yea, Romo wasnt real sharp on some of his throws. but he threw the ball 51 times. too many.

the defense takes alot of blame in this one too. the pass rush was non-existent for much of the game. cutler picked us apart.

a patchwork bears o-line outplayed our guys.

Is Jason Garrett still the head coach-in waiting? If so, Jerry Jones is even dumber than I thought (when it comes to picking coaches).

Coaching change coming sooner rather than later.
when? if they fire Wade in-season does that mean Garrett will get the job? that would be a horrible move imo. who would run the D? we all know what needs to happen. Jerrah needs to hire a coach that isnt a "yes" man, and let him run the show. this doesnt seem likely cause Jerrah's ego tells him he knows whats best.remember, this guy famously said he could win with any coach, after his ego ran Jimmy outta town. we know how that worked out.

I can't stand the Cowboys and am enjoying this trainwreck to the fullest extent. That said, you guys are blowing things out of proportion. This is a talented team and the breaks will go their way sooner than later. 9-7 min, 10 wins equally likely. Who's better than this team in the NFC...Saints, Falcons, Pack....maybe the Bears.

I think it's time that we stop with all the talk about how talented this team is. That's step number one of the recovery process. This team pisses me off so much, and it's not all the coaches fault even though they share the blame.

Cowher will never coach for Jerry Jones. Cowher wants complete control over the draft, his staff, and all personnel decisions. Jones gave more authority to Parcells than any coach since Jimmy Johnson and I doubt he will ever again.

By the way, Cowher defense is the 3 - 4. Pittsburgh played it the entire time he was head coach.

We need to tone it down, it'll be ok. I've never been a fan if Wade or Romo but that's what we got right now. I never saw them winning more than 10 anyway but if they don't win this week someone is in trouble.

He's a smart coach, sure he's able to run a 4-3 defense if he wanted to so that's not an issue really.

:lmao: The problem with Jerry is he is not just satisfied with winning. He wants to win and he wants to get all the credit. That is why he fired Jimmy, becauseJimmy was getting all the credit for the SB wins.To his credit, Jerry has helped put together a team that has a lot of talent on it. I think purposefully, he has kept a somewhat mediocre head coach, because if this team can get its act together and win the whole thing, Jerry will get a whole lot more credit than Wade. Ultimately, however, this fact is keeping the team from winning. They are undisciplined (lots of penalties) and lack leadership (key errors at key times). They are losing in spite of the talent they have. Jerry's ego is his worst enemy.

I think Jerry has made some progress over the years, that being said, he would do ANYTHING at this point to right the ship and make it to the superbowl THIS year at HIS stadium. The question is what is the best way to do that.I think what needs to happen is fire Garrett, demote Wade to DC and bring in a true HC that knows offense and knows the Cowboys system. Oh wait, hasn't Parcells taken a smaller consulting role with the 'fins? He knows Romo & many of the guys, knows how to hammer down some discipline and reduce the mistakes, and you can't tell me he wouldn't love to finish his carrier with a championship then retire fully satisfied.I wonder if they lose this week if things will happen quickly to make a change going into the bye week.
