Sorry, my comments were not meant to be delusional in nature, just thoughts I had about last nights game.I am very happy we won that game (I was expecting a loss because of Asante's absence). I love beating the Cowboys, especially in Dallas.Players that I am glad are Eagles and enjoy watching: Vick, McCoy, Herremans, Avant, Maclin, Jackson, Dixon, Cole, Parker, and Allen.I thought Harbor made some great blocks last night in the second half, Taking out Ware on several runs. McGlynn and Herremans also wereblocking well to open up holes for LeSean. Collinsworth was right that the young corners played much better last night. That was good to see.If the Eagles can win out, we should get a bye. Great win against a very hated rival. I still don't think they are good enough to win a Super Bowl, the defense is inconsistent and now losing Bradley and Graham (who despite only have 3 or so sacks, I think will be a beast) really hurts. I do think that they do have great young talent. Lindley showed some signs of being a great corner. Chaney, for being thrust into the spotlight after Stew going down I think played well but he's a liability in pass coverage, get Kevin Boss in your lineup next week. They are on the edge of greatness but I'd be shocked if they made it to the NFC Championship game let alone the Super Bowl.

Awesome win but just like all year it is time to move on to the next week already. NY Giants will be the next "biggest Game" of the year. Losing Graham was tough but I think Tapp will fit in great as the starter. Losing Bradley hurts with his leadership but honestly he hasn't looked right all year IMHO. Maybe someone steps up big at LB in his absense. Bradley is one of the big Leaders on Defense though so it will be tough to replace that.

Tough loss here, but recoverable considering Tapp's on the roster.Filling in for Bradley is the bigger loss.I think Keenan Clayton better start getting ready. Whatever happened to the other DE they drafted? Daniel Te’o-Nesheim?

I was thinking the same thing. They had high hopes for this kid when they drafted him as well. I wonder if it was just a depth issue and didn't have room for him or if he just wasn't up to par?

Sad part is, Eagles won't see him on the field until the 2012 season. He is pretty much going to miss all of next season. It takes a while for ACLs to heal, especially on DEs who need that movement off the edge. I hate to say it but that was a wasted pick. Wait...I have said it already. Just looks even worse now that he is injured & didn't produce at all this season considering they traded up for him. They need to stop drafting DEs in the first few rounds as they seemed to be cursed.---Does this push Chaney or Gaither into the starting MLB role? I would assume Chaney since Gaither was deactivated. Without Bradley, this has to be the smallest LB core in the league. I think some high school teams have more weight at LB.---While on LBs....Is Clayton healthy? Its a shame he hasn't gotten some time at WILL this year because frankly, I think Sims just isn't good...as I said before the guy can hit, but that is about all. He hasn't played good this season and last night didn't help his cause at all.---Back to MLB...do they look to upgrade MLB in the offseason? I know it was a fluke injury but this is two seasons in a row where Bradley has gone down and this season, he has been up and down alot in terms of performance. I don't have faith in Gaither or Chaney to be starters, depth? Sure but not a starter at MLB, important position there---I guess Te-o & Tapp get more time now. Hooray ?---The RIGHT SIDE of the OL just sucks ###. They really need an upgrade at the RG position. I mean they need to look high in the draft for a RG. Also need someone to push Justice at OT too, that will at least mean we would have quality depth in case of injuries. Peters & Todd played damn well last night, I think Peters is going to the pro bowl.---CBs played pretty good I think. Were a few moments where they got lucky. Still it is a position of concern, same with SS. Mikel, I don't know man.Sadly, the position problems I listed that I think most people can agree on, were the same positions that should have been addressed last season.

I thought I heard Reid mention something about a hamstring injury, wasn't sure how serious though. LBs right now are Sims Chaney? Fokou...with Gaither as the lone depth since Clayton has the hammy?...Good lord you would think they had 2 draft picks last season or something.This losing Graham thing is really a sucker punch to the Eagles though, I don't think people realize it either. Hope next weeks game they come out relatively injury free.

I'd have to look at a replay of the game, but the Giants changed their defense in the fourth quarter and it cost them. All first half both DeSean and Maclin were played close by the corners, getting pressed and in bump and run coverage. Neither could get a clean release.
Later in the game the Giants looked lost on defense. Rush? Vick might slip through and run. Drop back? Vick will have all day to find someone open. Rather than play a base defense and tweak it a little they got stuck between the 2 extremes and Vick had his way with them.
Thrilling finish and my house was unbelievably loud as everyone was beside themselves with DeSean's return. Crazy comeback. Shame Atlanta didn't lose - but go Vikings.

I had to work until 2:00 yesterday, but I heard every miserable second of the 1st half on the radio there and in the car on the way home. As soon as I got home, I wrangled up the family to go to my cousin's house for my side of the families Christmas get-together. As we're making the hour trek to the house, the Eagles start to creep back (even after Merril declared the game 'over' after the last TD). As I pull in to my cousin's house, all the uncles, cousins, brothers and fathers are out in the garage #####ing and moaning about the game. I inform them that the Eagles just scored and got the onside kick. They all rush in right in time to see the TD. Now the NYG get the ball back and start to burn clock. The Eagles eventually get the ball back with three minutes to go and we're going nuts. After every play the excitement is now getting to a fever pitch. The Eagles score and everyone goes banannas. High 5's and hugs all around. But wait....there's a minute and change left. Being Eagles fans, that's a good reason to worry, because you grew up expecting the worst.
Eli gets the ball back and the Defense stuffs him. That sack was absolutely huge at the end in hindsight (and awesome job by Eli holding onto the ball). The Giants get ready to punt and we're getting ready for OT. My Mom says "There's still time left, what if he runs it back?" All of us knowledgable men-folk chuckle at this silly statement and explain that the punter will merely kick it out of bounds and we'll go into OT. That's when 'it' happens: high snap (my cousin saw it and pointed it out at once) at LINE DRIVE punt right at D-Jax. We all look at each other in astonishment. Than there's a collective 'NOOOOOOOOO' when the ball is dropped. We're yelling 'Dive on the ball' when he goes to pick it up. D-Jax than proceeds to go right through the middle and righ past Avant who absolutely de-cleats the Giants defender. We're all dizzy with delight. Shot's start flowing and we all high-fiving and hugging everyone within distance. Probably my best adult sports memory ever.

I guess when a team's beaten you 6 times in a row you tend to get a little whinny. Giants Rocky Bernard complaining about the Eagles offensive line.
Last month, it was Chris Canty saying Eagles guard Todd Herremans plays “dirty.” Sunday, after the Giants’ collapse in a 38-31 last-second loss to the Eagles, it was another defensive tackle crying foul against the entire Philly offensive line.
“It’s just that team, they like to play dirty. Same (stuff) they did in the first game and the refs don’t do (anything) about it,” Rocky Bernard told The Star-Ledger. “Just taking cheap shots, after the whistle, tackling, holding, whatever. It’s ridiculous.”
Bernard, who sacked Michael Vick once Sunday, was grappling with Eagles players a few times. He was battling guard Max Jean-Gilles after one play and also mixed it up with tight end Clay Harbor after the whistle. Neither he nor any Eagles players were flagged.
“I’m usually a pretty cool guy, but when they start doing stuff like that, taking cheap shots, that’s when I have a problem with it,” Bernard said. “You try to complain about it to the ref, and they don’t call it.”
Asked what the officials told him after he complained, Bernard replied, “ ‘Oh well, we didn’t see it.’ How could you not see somebody 360 pounds tackling another man or punching somebody in the face? It’s unbelievable.”
But if his case isn’t being heard, should these teams meet again, Bernard realizes there’s only one solution.

An absolutely stunning, mind-boggling, fantastic outcome. It was my birthday yesterday, and I still can't believe that comeback. Felt like the football gods were doing me a solid.
That said, we're really now in a position more than ever of having to win shootouts, which I'm never happy about when it comes to playoff time. No Bradley, no Graham, no Allen, maybe no Kurt Coleman (he got hurt but I haven't heard if it's significant), no Hobbs. Ugh. Dmitri Patterson was a feel good story for a few weeks, but opposing teams have figured out he's awful in man-to-man.
Still super fun to watch and that game was one I won't forget for a long, long time.

So funny story from yesterday. I'm at the bar with my buds and after we all got done screaming to the high heavens for Andy to throw the challenge flag (literally 60-70 people in a bar all screaming), I decided I was leaving after the Giants scored the TD. I had a 45 minute drive home ahead and figured I'd get started. So literally the moment I get into the car and turn on the radio, Brent Celek catches the TD pass. Merrill was saying how we finally had something going and I thought "yea right." Then the onside kick. So I'm a bit more optimistic but still skeptical. Then Vick starts ripping off big gains. Then he scores. So now w'ere down 7 and I'm starting to think "no way." We get the ball back, drive down and score again and I'm completely giddy at this point. I'm calling my buddies in the bar and telling them it was all part of my plan to get us back in the game. Then just as I'm about to pull up to my house, Jackson fumbles and my heart stops for a moment. Then, he goes off. Mike Quick was hysterical on the radio. Screaming behind Merrill "He's Going! He's Going!" and I'm laughing hysterically in my car at the ridiculousness of the whole thing. How did that possible happen.
From the time I get into my car to the time I reached my house, 45 minutes away, the Eagles scored 28 points. Most ridiculous game Ive ever experienced.

Almost stopped watching to play Black Ops. Thank goodness I stuck it out.
Allen out with patellar tendon rupture. Will be getting surgery. Recovery is like 12 weeks. Won't be back this season but hopefully wont miss too much time next season. It's better than the achilles rupture that was initially reported since there's less chance of re-rupture.
Coleman has looked good in his limited time. I hope there is not too much dropoff.
As much as the defense has sucked, there have been a LOT of injuries. Starting FS, DE, MLB, CB x2, DT. That is half the starting defense. I am impressed by this rookie class stepping up. Reminds me of the NYG rookie class the season they won the superbowl.

One thing I love about the Eagles is they always seem to get WR's who like to block downfield. Even though Maclin and Jackson are small, their
downfield blocks allowed Celek to score on the TD that started the comeback.
And wasn't it Avant who had the "Decleating" block on the winning punt return?

So if Atlanta loses twice and the Eagles win out, I figure the Eagles will get the #1 seed. If Chicago loses once, then we would be tied with Atlanta
at 12-4 and we would win the tiebreaker because we beat Atlanta. If Chicago wins out, it will be a 3-way tie at 12-4 and the tiebreaker would go
to strength of Victory which the Eagles lead in over both Atlanta and Chicago.
Of course there is no way Atlanta loses their last game of the season at home against Carolina, but I can dream, can't I?

hmmm, playoff scenario generator shows ATL getting 1, CHI getting 2 and Eagles getting 3 if ATL loses out and CHI and Eagles win out. That's with NO losing their last game.
If NO, CHI and PHI win out and ATL loses out, NO gets the 1 instead.

The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants.
Divisional tiebreaker 1 (for 3 clubs): Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games among the clubs).
Maybe it is in another clause somewhere, but I don't see the sweep issue mentioned on that page.

You're right if NO wins out (Better conference record to win the division and to gain the #1 seed) but the Yahoo playoff generator I used shows the Eagles as #1 seed if there is a three way tie between them and Atlanta and Chicago. Check your settings on your generator. If you actually picked all of the games in the last two weeks and they were significantly different then mine, then that could affect the strength of victory enough that yours shows Atlanta as the #1 seed and mine shows the Eagles.Jeff above was right, we have to root for Chicago to lose.
