Why was Nicks ranked #4 WR this week by FBG ? I can see him still being started but #4 ? No way this week not vs you know who.

Every issue we had was exposed in a BIG WAY!!! Unbelievable!!

100 million for this ####????

That goal line playcalling should have someone fired!! HORRIBLE!!!!

Yea i get knocked alot of #####ing at this team but everything i said over the summer, last season about the team , the coaching staff & draft is spot freaking on.

Reid Marty & Juan..absolutely horrible coached game. For one, Vick should not have started. Second, id rather have someone sit on the sidelines and hit the ask madden button for playcalling. WTF was that crap today?

Also, Juan is not going to make it to week 6. He has better players & position coaches then what McDermott had. Great choice of defensive cordinators there Andy.

This is the worse LB group I think I ever seen in an eagle uniform. Same with the safeties. Coleman Page & Allen looked..bad, i mean really bad. I don't understand how you can go so far forward with the signing of Aso DRC Babin Jenkins but fail so hard at the LBers & safeties. 2 steps forward, 3 steps back right there.

Only positive thing was Shady being a beast out there & the front 4 again.

edit: Just seen Jackson was in at center at the end of the game. Kelce was in at LG cause Mathias was hurt. Jackson should have been starting from week 1

Eli Manning had a QB rating of 145.7. Eli Manning. 145.7. Against our defense.Andy has to get this turned around or take the fall. Its his team from top to bottom. Every player, every coach is his choice.

O-Coordinators absolutely own Juan Castillo. He is always a step behind and fits the Reid mold in not doing a good job of making in-game adjustments.

As for the future, we are in trouble with the big contracts the Eagles threw around. Vick and Nnamdi contracts are going to kill us. Vick takes too much of a beating to be reliable game in and game out. Who in the heck is wearing #24 for the Eagles. I thought that # was assigned to the guy who was arguably one of the top Corners in the game. He looked liked he had absolutely zero ball skills on the second Cruz TD. After watching him this season, i just don't see the hype surrounding this guy and consider that dead money.

Ok, now I got that off of my chest, I can now back away from the ledge.

Who would you give up among our offseason acquisitions to get a stud LB?
Without a doubt, Nnamdi Asomugha.I think we would have been better off with Sameul and DRC at Corners with a couple of veteran Free agent LBers. TEs and RBs are killing us in the passing game right now. Unless Nnamdi can slide inside to help out there or to Safety, he doesn't really help our defense at all.

It's only game 3, but a lot of things need to be ironed out for us to right the ship.

The offensive line is a mess. Kelce has no push and that is one of the major reasons why we can't get short yardage up the middle. We need to get Jamal Jackson back to the center position, and hopefully Justice can come back quickly so that we can get Herremans back to guard.

The defense is abysmal. Through three games, I saw how it could work in the Atlanta game. Coles was unbelievable, but the defense has too many holes, and is actually making our secondary look terrible. Juan is not the answer, and he either needs to change his style, or he needs to go.

Vick needs to be Vick. I know just shelled out a 100 million dollar contract (really a 3 year deal, per what I read, if we want to cut him them), but Vick staying in the pocket does not make him the game changer that he can be. He's always a hit away from missing games, but allow him to use his legs, roll out, get into space, scramble, etc. Having Vick stay in the pocket and throw is gift wrapping a stagnant offense for other DCs.

Kinda shocked to see some people ripping on Awesomeguy. That TD to Cruz...it wasn't his play. It was the safeties play but he seen the safety was no wear near it and played out of position to cover for the safety, whom came over late.

I am glad vick spoke out about the hits he been getting & the non calls they are drawing. I seen a few plays he got smacked in the helmet or hit later and nothing was called. Its been like this since last season and frustrating to watch, considering the middle of the Oline is bad, cause the guy is getting hit more then our RBs.

They need to let Vick play his game point, blank, period. Vick wont ever be a pocket passer. Move the pocket a little. Get a couple bootlegs here and there. Vick is getting hurt more in the pocket than when he's out it.

Brings back memories of McNabb. Funny we are getting the same results and the only thing that remained the same is ...Reid

You really need to watch that second Cruz TD again. Nnamdi was in press coverage and backed off when Cruz went into motion. Nnamdi may have been expecting inside help but there was no other receiver in the area he had to worry about and Nnamdi looked lost when he tried to make a play on the ball. Regardless, with the high expectations and large salary, Nnamdi should not be getting outfought in a jump ball situation with a third rate WR. That would never happen to Revis who Nnamdi is normally compared to.

From goal to go Vick (our concussd QB) gets 2 sneaks and Owen ####### Scmidt gets 2 carries!! Wtf is going on?!
I am still beside myself wondering why Shady with the game his was having didn't get his hands on the ball once. Marty and Reid get too enamored with the stupid trick plays. Sometimes its just better to lineup and smack the other team in the mouth.

Get over it ... They got the azzes kicked just like they did lest time they pulled a win out of their azzes.

Maybe they should invest in some more overrated CBs

Pretty sure they were playing zone coverage and he noticed the safety was no where near the area to be covered, which is why he is trying to call out to someone. I still dont know why they are playing him in zone, they need to let him be man to man every play. That is his game plain and simple.Either way it was a blown defensive play there but the people ripping on him need to ####. The guy is one of the best corners in the game & it would have happened to "Revis" if Page or Coleman were his safeties

Vick post Game interview. ' I don't get the calls other QB's get'. Deion just set Vick straight.
Who cares about Deion? Vick is right. This goes back to last year and the Eagles actually brought it up to the NFL about hte lack of calls. He takes alot of late hits that other qbs would get flags for.If you dont watch Eagles games all the time then its hard to see it and think he is just making excuses. He isnt. The refs are calling him differently then other QBs

 Our O-line is incapable of getting a push up the middle and "smacking" ANYONE "in the mouth". We simply don't have the right personel for short-yardage/goal line running up the gut. I also think Shady should have gotten his hands on it...on the edge, in space, a pitch or screen. A QB sneak (with a hurt QB coming off a concussion) and two inside handoffs to a FB are horrible calls.

The LBs remind me of: Pinkston, Thrash, and Mitchell

What a horrible effort by everyone but Shady.I'm most concerned about Maclin. If he's OK, Kafka can handle this team vs. SF for a week.
:goodposting: I'm a little worried about Vick overall...just hasn't looked good this year.
The offensive line is the #1 problem.LBs are #2.Castillo could possibly be #3. IDK if it is his call for the Wide-9 experiment, but with no 2-gap DTs and safeties who can't tackle, off-tackle runs by Jacobs and Bradshaw will gash them consistently. It'll be interesting to see if Gore's healthy next week, as either he or Hunter will run all over that defense again. They need to put 8 in the box ALWAYS and take their chances against weaker passing teams. Why wasn't that done today? I have no idea. Nicks and Cruz were all they had.

I would say we should have kept Kolb but he looks like garbage in Arizona. Dink, dunk, not finishing drives and a pick with a chance to win today.

I don't get all this faith in Kafka, what has he done? I hate VY but would be more comfortable with him due to game experience and getting some W's in the NFL. Let me reiterate, I hate Vince Young. This is a dangerous spot for our season. So damn frustrating.

i think we all have to start looking at this seriously.

the eagles are vastly over-rated.

we have sub-par lbs (really they are a joke)

we have sub-par safeties

we have very good cbs, but they just can't seem to stop the wrs when they need to.

we have a very injury plagued qb, who can't stay on the field for the whole season.

unless something changes to me this looks like an 8-8 or at best a 9-7 year.

wow i can't believe the disappointment i am feeling. i truely thought we were a team that could contend.

i am sorry to say that andy reid has to be on the hot seat. i know he isn't going to be, but he has to start taking the blame when he spends so much money in free agency, but leave the eagles so open on the lbs and safety spot.

there were lbs avail in free agency or in the draft. casey matthews was a very poor decision.

i say if the eagles don't make the playoffs that andy reid will be pressed to step down.

Relax guys , that will be the worst performance you will see them play this year , every team goes through it during a 17 game season .

but the LB play is a major concern

The basic problem with the defense (asides from weak tackling) is that the players are OUT OF POSITION.

Aside from Trent Cole and Babin, they're fine.

What is Nnamdi doing playing ZONE??? He should be on the WR1, period. Asante, you get the WR2, period. Or - if you really want to maintain a side - take the best WR on your side. PERIOD.

Now drop a (tackling) safety into the box. He gets one gap of responsibility; I'd recommend B-gap on strong side.

DTs take two gaps, likely one A, one B. I'll assume B-gap on weak side and A-gap on strong side.

MLB (Chaney) gets the A-gap that's left.

SLB gets C-gap on strong side - allows him to peel off to TE if he goes out for a pass.

WLB gets C-gap on weak side.

That's 3 LBs, 2 DTs and a S for all six gaps and DE's have widest gaps that they crash.

Asante and Nnamdi in man-to-man. Nate Allen as roaming FS.

That'd be my scheme.

Philly's gonna smoke the Giants...stack 8 in the box and go man up on their recievers, while the Giants secondary won't be able to stop Jackson and Maclin. It's gonna get ugly, divisional foe or not.42-10 Philly.
:goodposting:Wow the tone in this thread sure changed from unstoppable to 8-8. I agree that Eagles have tons of issues but far too early to write them off as mediocre and this coming from a Cowboys fan

I'm getting so sick of all this "dream team" BS talk by the haters and NY/ESPN media. I mean really it was made by a freeking backup/3rd string player. Get the fck off of it and let it go. They should cut VY just for being such a moron for saying it. This team has holes, but it's still an offensive nightmare. 4-10.... c'mon man that's not going to happen and Reid is a very good coach and will get this team playing hard!

I'm sorry but the refs have different rules for guys like Brady and Rodgers compared to Vick. They need to step up and protect him like they say they want to do with all players.

Just be happy you're not a Vikings fan right now.

Been over at bleedinggreennation lately and noticed some thing someone said "Why is a position coach dictating which defensive scheme the defense uses?"....which honestly, is a legit question. Especially considering the defense Juan DOES have experience with was the defense Jim Johnson ran for years & a dumb down version that McDermott was running last season. Everything starts at the top at Reid since he is the person who drafted these players, brought in said coaches, devise the gameplans etc. He is doing the same square peg round hole routine he did for years here. Examples? 1. Ronnie Brown....brought him in for a reason..where was he today? Nope, Owen was in there.2. Late round drafted players expect to perform at an above average role ...basically the entire linebacker core & safeties. You think they would have learned with letting dawkins walk & seeing the result that had on the safeties the following year. Instead they do the same with Mikel & its the worst safety play I seen in recent years from the eagles. 3. One of the best man coverage guys...playing zone coverage for his first time. 4. Allowing the wide 9 defense when it needs big LBs that can shed blocks. At least use it in passing situations and move them in on running downs. 5. Still can not balance out pass vs rush on a consistent basis. Sure they ran 8 times in a row on a drive only to fail with 3 straight passes in the redzone..which is what they failed with last season also. Also the whole 4 rushes into a wall @ the goaline while having the fastest QB and one of the quickest RBs in the game...( rollout, pitch would have been ideal ) I honestly think someone is canned by the bye week. My gut is leaning toward Juan with Andy being put on a very short leash. Washburn or one of the position coaches takes over the DC title. They also need to bring in someone that can evaluate college talent because frankly, they sucked ### badly in these past few Howie drafts outside of Maclin ( which was a no brainer thanks to Oaklands screw up ) & McCoy, who was already considered a very good RB coming out of college in the first place. Time to let go of this late round diamond in the rough strat. Its early I know but looking at the current safeties, they may have to go safety again in the draft. Allen isnt going to be like he was thanks to the leg injury & even while he looked good early last season, his played dropped off alot as the season went out ( before his injury ). Coleman is what he is. A special teams player that SHOULD be worked as a project & not a starter right now. Page? desperation move. I honestly know nothing about Jarrett but the fact he hasn't been able to get on the field with this current crop of safeties doesn't sound good at all. OL is still a big concern. Sure they may have played better but Vick is still taking insane amounts of hits IN the pocket. I still don't see why Kelce should be starting. The middle of the line is the weakest & a reason for Vick having to rollout constantly & take punishment. Also, where is Graham going to fit in if he makes it onto the field this year? If anything the front 4 is playing the best this team has seen in a long time. Watkins looking like a great pickToo much to write about, going to bed

I'm pretty dissapointed, but doesn't it seem like Philly starts like this almost every year? I mean, seriously, doesn't EVERY Reid team start 1-2 or 2-2 and lose at least one head scratcher they had no business losing?

There's things to fix, and things to worry about, but let's back away from the cliff...this is still a playoff team.

I wish that Castillo could sit down in a presser and explain what it is he designs this defense to do. Obviously not let out "secrets" or anything like that, but tell us the basic roles/goals of it so we can maybe try and understand why they do what they do on the field. The "wide 9" is obviously part of it, but as others have pointed out we don't seem to have the normal corresponding pieces at DT/LB that make it more successful on non-obvious passing downs. The top two draft picks being active is crazy frustrating, especially considering Watkins was supposedly hand picked by Mudd.

Hopefully I'm not being too Pollyanna here, but I think there is an upside to this. If you believe that Mudd and Washburn are two of the best line coaches around, and recognizing they had VERY little time to learn the talent here and install the system, I think that in the next 2-3 years we should see marked improvement there. We still have very good and young offensive talent (assuming we can sign DJax long term) that should continue to develop. Maybe this defensive performance this year will finally let them see the importance of LBs in ANY defensive scheme and they can go about fixing that.

I don't know...am I grasping at straws?

As an IDP player (and ex Philly fan :-/ ) I spent alot of time watching Chaney at MLB. Oof, that's a problem.... I can't remember seeing a guy whiff at tackling so much! When he wasn't missing easy tackles, he was being blown completely out of the play. When that tape gets watched by opposing OC's I would expect there to be no reason to pass at the Eagles again. SF should send Gore up the gut non stop next week.

Seems optimistic to me as well. Right now there are no 'gimme' games but should be favored over SF. Then they go to the Bills and on to the division leading Redskins right before the bye...and we all know how that game goes. Next week is as close to must-win as you can get in NFL week 4, imo.

And they are looking far from a playoff team right now. 1-2 vs. teams with a combined 3-6 record.

So Vick is out 3-4 weeks:49ers - Bills - Redskins - ByeWe should be able to go 2-1 and have Vick back for the Cowboys
So is it Kafka or VY?VY isn't known for his smarts and hasn't had many reps, but the guy plays more similar to Vick, might survive behind the line better, and has a wining NFL record. Kafka, on the other hand, is Reid's guy, seems to know the offense, looked good enough last week at least, and played well enough to make Kolb expendable in Reid's eyes.

Its a mess right now and its extremely frustrating that the 2 glaring areas of need that the fans have been screaming about (LB and Safety) were the direct causes for the first 2 TDs. However, this team still has potential. Reid teams always start slow. IF we can make it to the bye at 3-3 at least, then we can be in decent shape to still make the playoffs.

What's bugging me now is again the lack of drafting ability.

1st Round: Danny Watkins, G - Healthy Scratch. Can't even make the lineup for depth.

2nd Round: Jaquan Jarret, S - Healthy Scratch. We have 2 undrafted scrubs in looking stupid. Is Jarrett that much worse?

3rd Round: Curtis Marsh, CB - Not that we need another CB but if they had an idea in mind that they would get 2 CBS in FA, then why waste this pick on a CB and not draft a LB? They'd probably screw up the choice but at least try.

4th Round: Casey Matthews, LB - I guess they wanted to wait a round to waste a pick. This guy got drafted strictly because of his name. I wanted to believe. I really did but this kid can't play.

4th Round: Alex Henery, K - Why take the chance? For money? Akers is perfect so far in windy SF. You don't think he'll be pumped to win next week?

5th Round: Dion Lewis, RB - Eh, not bad.

5th Round: Julian Vandervelde, G - Who? Is he even active?

6th Round: Jason Kelce, C - He's not bad but going with a 6th round rookie as your o-line anchor is a huge risk. Why take it?

6th Round: Brian Rolle, LB - From the little we've seen of him, he looks like the best LB from the Eagles draft.

7th Round: Greg Lloyd Jr, LB - Cut

Four players that have played and only 1 thats played good. Lewis and Kelce are ok, Matthews is abysmal and Rolle has barely seen the field. All of them are 4th round or lower. they never pick guys that can be plugged in right away.

I'd go Kafka. Young can run around sure but will he be able to run the offense at all at this point? Kafka had a couple of bad throws against the Giants but I think after a full week of practice and the expectation that he's the starter, he will prove himself worthy.
