Great catch by DeWayne Wise last night. Even the ump knew it was a great catch and didnt have to check his glove for the ball.

I thought it was silly too. Obviously he did it because he's been struggling, but if I'm the Brewers and the dude just threw it by 3 of our guys at 100+ I'd be a little perturbed at the celebration.

Mets have scored 17 runs (all earned) against the Cubs today, and only 4 players have any RBI.

Nice to see Lincecum come through with a solid effort
I wouldn't get too excited, that lineup the Dodgers are sending to the plate is LOFL awful. And they lost their only hitter in Ethier in the first. Billingsley had the hardest hit ball today, by far. Congrats on the sweep, though. Dodgers didn't score a run in the series; that's never happened up there (they were saying).

The divisional race starts now with SF and LA in a dead tie and Arizona 4 1/2 back.

Am I right to assume today is the first time in MLB history that 2 players with the same surname and the same first initial of their given name each hit 2 HRs in a game on the same day?

Orioles first baseman/designated hitter Nick Johnson left Wednesday's 13-1 loss to the Angels in the fourth inning with a right wrist injury and will likely have an MRI on the wrist Thursday.Johnson said he felt pain in the wrist after fouling off a change up in his first at bat on Wednesday in the second inning."That one pitch got it pretty good and I lost a lot of strength in it the next pitch," Johnson said. "So we’re gonna wait to see what this picture shows and move forward."
It was probably just a matter of time but still :(

Holy crap what a catch by Trout.
Ridiculous. Probably the best this year so far
Totally sick
Great catch, but let's not get carried away. It looked way more impressive than it was because that outfield wall is like 4 feet high.
 It's at least a foot taller than he is.
Sarcasm meter in the shop again? It's 7 feet, so without looking for the replay again I'm guessing the ball was about 9.5 feet off the ground. OH MY GOD HOW DID HE JUMP THAT HIGH?!!?1?!1?1?@3/123.DF,

AJ Burnett gave up 12 earned runs on May 2nd.

Since then, he has given up 16 earned runs in 66 innings (10 starts) while striking out 52. He is 8-0 in that time span.

Crazy.

Rajai Davis has a hand protector thingy on his right hand while base running. He stole 2nd with that apparatus getting there before the rest of his hand.

The question here is does that count as part of his hand?

PS: He would have been safe anyway, just curious.

Need to scout for players with the neck muscles to support a 90' conning tower on top of their cap

Aaron Hill becomes 1st player since 1931 to hit for two cycles in one season. Oh, and he hit his first cycle 11 days ago. He's having a nice little resurgence in the desert.

Reader John Thompson, Reedsville, Pa., asks, “When are baseball announcers going to realize the difference between a ground-rule double and book-rule double.”A: Never. Much too late.Thompson’s correct. What’s almost always described as “a ground-rule double” — a batted ball bouncing over an outfield fence — actually is a “book-rule double,” in that the rule applies everywhere.Ground-rule doubles are a matter of individual park particulars and peculiarities — as Thompson notes by example, a ball that disappears in the ivy at Wrigley Field. That’s why, when the umps and managers gather at home before the game, they exchange lineups — and review that park’s ground rules.phil.mushnick@nypost.com

Are there NO decent first basemen in the entire Dodgers organization? James Loney is f'n terrible!

But maybe I'm being too hard on him. He did manage to get one hit in the past two weeks.

Just read this. Nick Johnson has been on the DL every year of his career.2000: Missed the entire season with a strained muscle in his right hand, suffered on a check swing in spring training.2001: Technically, he wasn't on the big-league DL this year, staying healthy for all of 23 games after his Aug. 21 debut. But he was on the minor-league DL, with a strained left thumb.2002: Went on the DL with a strained left wrist.2003: On the DL with a broken bone in his right hand.2004: On the DL twice, first with a strained lower back and then with a broken right cheekbone.2005: On the DL with a right heel contusion.2006: Avoided the DL! But he broke his right leg and needed surgery. It was in September, with no 25-man roster limit, so he wasn't put on the DL.2007: Missed the entire season recovering from the broken leg. Had two more surgeries on the leg.2008: Spent most of the year on the DL, with a right wrist injury.2009: On the DL with a strained right hamstring.2010: Spent most of the year on the DL, with a right wrist injury.2011: Was in the minor leagues the entire year. Was on the DL twice.2012: Placed on the DL Thursday with a sprained right wrist..

Why doesn't Chipper consider going to the AL and DHing for a couple of seasons?

The dude can still rake. He just can't stay on the field anymore.

Two above average, or three mediocre seasons puts him at 3,000 hits and 500 HR's.

He doesn't need it for the Hall and I think there's a certain value playing for one team your whole life.

Billy Hamilton of the Bakersfield Blaze (Cincinnati's class-A farm team) stole his 100th base of the season tonight in game #78.

During interleague he said he had no interest in playing the DH role. In fact the night he was penciled in to DH he mysteriously was scratched from the lineup.
