It's a decent return for two months of Dempster. Delgado is 22 and has had success already at the Major League level. Poor command has been his biggest issue but he's shown some improvement in that area recently. For Randall Delgado, allegedly.Dempster to ATL apparently

whoa...@JackCurryYES: The Yankees have acquired Ichiro Suzuki for RHPs DJ Mitchell and Danny Fahrquar.
Yeesh.Bob Nightengale @BNightengaleThe #Mariners front office badly wanted to trade Ichiro Suzuki so they didn't have to bring him back as free agent. Wanted no part of him
For Jacob Turner.Ken Rosenthal reporting Anibal Sanchez/Omar Infante heading to the Tigers.
I'm no fan of the Yankees and Ichiro is clearly on a downward trend but I'm glad to see him come to NY. I hope he does well.Ichiro has had a dreadful past year and a half, but worst case he brings speed and defense mpw that Gardner is out for the season...Plus there's always a chance he's revitalized in NYGood move IMO

Yeah I like that move for the Yanks, Ichiro may actually show up to play every day now which will be a huge change for him.'Tremendous Upside said:Ichiro has had a dreadful past year and a half, but worst case he brings speed and defense mpw that Gardner is out for the season...Plus there's always a chance he's revitalized in NYGood move IMO

They could set the all-time record for losses next year in the AL West.Houston is categorically terrible.
That said, the new braintrust has strengthened the organization with their recent tradesThey could set the all-time record for losses next year in the AL West.Houston is categorically terrible.
Probably so, but I can't believe it has gotten this bad for them. They're the worst team in baseball and don't even have any good young players. How is that possible? That said, the new braintrust has strengthened the organization with their recent tradesThey could set the all-time record for losses next year in the AL West.Houston is categorically terrible.
Altuve? Most people expected this level of awfulness from the Astros, yes? I don't recall a single preseason prediction that didn't consider them the worst team in the league. Ed Wade killed the entire organization, particularly in the Bourn trade which was a total miss considering the trading partner and the young talent they had to offer. But they did relatively well on the Hunter Pence deal. At least now they're trying to turn the corner.Probably so, but I can't believe it has gotten this bad for them. Wonder how Carlos Lee feels to escape houston and then walks into a Fire Sale in Miami.Houston is categorically terrible.
he only has himself to blame as he vetoed a deal to the dodgers before he was traded to miami.Wonder how Carlos Lee feels to escape houston and then walks into a Fire Sale in Miami.Houston is categorically terrible.

and Lowrie is a nice piece of the puzzle as well and Singleton probably being a middle of the order guy. I think they have good "fill" OF talent but not all that sure about pitching.Their pitching is why I think they're closer to a decade away and their #1 pick this year reflects that thinking. Lowrie may be a very interesting trade chip this time next year as he's a free agent 2015 and Correa's the long term guy at short.Altuve isand Lowrie is a nice piece of the puzzle as well and Singleton probably being a middle of the order guy. Really?Altuve is a lot better than people had thought. They're the worst team in baseball and don't even have any good young players. How is that possible?
Scott Moore is 28 and hitting .138 over the past 14 days. He's a helluva rockabilly guitar player though. The Astros AA and AAA teams have good records. It's hard to get a good read on pitching stats since they play in the Texas and Pacific Coast leagues. Jordan Lyles has been up and down for two years now but is still just 21. Some 23 year old at AA named Jose Cisnero has good numbers but needs to sharpen his control.Really?Altuve is a lot better than people had thought. They're the worst team in baseball and don't even have any good young players. Martinez is serviceable (would be better but is hurt)
Scott Moore 2B/OF, has looked pretty good since his callup
and they have a handful of players in the minors you will see next year or soon after:
Jonathan Singleton 1B, obtained in the Pence trade
Jarred Cosart a RHP also obtained from Philly
DeLino Deshields Jr. 2B, son of and hitting well this year
George Springer OF, former UConn standout in college, from the 2011 draft,
to say nothing of the #1 pick from this year, Carlos Correa a very good hitting shortstop with power
They have some nice developmental pieces, but none of their arms look to be any better than middle of the rotation types. They're going to need to use guys like Lowrie and Martinez to acquire pitching prospects as well as groom more from the draft. It's going to be a long, painful process.Really?Altuve is a lot better than people had thought. They're the worst team in baseball and don't even have any good young players. How is that possible?

@jonmorosi: Source says there are ways for #Dodgers to get Dempster from #Cubs without surrendering Zach Lee.

Dodgers Acquire Hanley Ramirez & Randy ChoateBy Mike Axisa [July 25 at 1:37am CST]The Dodgers have acquired Hanley Ramirez and Randy Choate from the Marlins for Nathan Eovaldi and a minor leaguer, reports Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports (on Twitter). The minor leaguer is right-hander Scott McGough according to Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports, and Dylan Hernandez of The Los Angeles Times says that Miami is not sending any money to the Dodgers (Twitter links)."We had to do something," Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria said, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (on Twitter). "The machine was sputtering. It's too good a baseball team and for some reason it didn't seem to be operating on all cylinders from the beginning of the season."Dodgers manager Don Mattingly will determine whether to play Ramirez at shortstop or third base, Rosenthal reports (on Twitter). Ramirez has volunteered to play either position, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports (on Twitter). He's likely to play shortstop until Dee Gordon returns from the disabled list, then move to third base.McGough, a 22-year-old right-hander, has a 3.88 ERA with 9.1 K/9 and 4.7 BB/9 in 34 relief outings at Class A. The 2011 fifth rounder has averaged more than one strikeout per season since being drafted.
Panic dump, they could've gotten a lot more for him in December. The Los Angeles Dodgers acquire infielder Hanley Ramirez and left-hander Randy Choate from the Miami Marlins, CBSSports.com's Scott Miller reports.
Haven't seen any reports but you have to wonder about the amount of clubhouse friction between Ozzie and Hanley.
