Bobby V is just terrible at his job. How do you have Crawford on first, with nobody out, and don't find a way to send him over the next 3 batters? It's Carl GD Crawford. At this points, stealing a base is the only value he has to the team.

Leyland does the same ####. Cabrera leads the league in GIDPs and he has had Berry standing on first several times, twice I can remember ended up being a DP. Jesus, Berry is 15 for 15 in steals...SEND HIM!

Olney probably just tossing darts, but mentioning a Dbacks / Cubs deal around Garza / Justin Upton

According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Diamondbacks are "working hard on something big."

Although it is just conjecture, Olney tossed out a trade involving Justin Upton and Matt Garza. "Makes sense for both Cubs and Diamondbacks," he writes. It's important to note that the Cubs are on Upton's no-trade list, though his acrimonious relationship with management may cause him to reconsider. Diamondbacks president Derrick Hall said last week that there's "close to a 100 percent chance" that Upton will not be traded before the non-waiver trade deadline. Perhaps the Cubs are moving closer to satisfying Arizona's asking price for the star young outfielder.

Joseph has apparently improved enough to be a solid defensive catcher and he has 25 HR power. He won't hit for average and isn't very patient (although the later has improved a bit this year).

What were you expecting? Pence was pretty mediocre this year and is due a big arbitration award next year. Not a lot of teams would be interested in that.

Arbitration number would probably fall in the $12-14M range which is big but would only put him 4th or 5th on the Phillies' payroll.

Dempster also has a house (Scottsdale IIRC) so it's possible that is what the Diamondbacks are working on - they have plenty of good pitching prospects to make the deal and they may be moving Joe Saunders
