***Official 2013/2014 NHL Regular Season Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Apparently Tim Thomas has become a swinging saloon door at his old age. 7-0 Blues.
I think just an off game for him. He's still got game.

Holtby played better but it still wasn't good enough to overcome the terrible 5 on 5 play, mental mistakes and overall bad defensive effort.

The Stars have always given them fits down in Dallas and last night was no exception.Chiasson is a budding star in this league and I was really impressed by Dillon.Tons of young talent on this team without a doubt.

They made the plays when they were given them and cashed them in to earn the 2 points and the Caps didn't.

Coyle out a month. Huge bummer. Kid was looking fantastic and looking primed for a big season. Zucker with the call up, hope he's healthy now.

Blackhawks have allowed 3 shots to Tampa and there's 8 minutes left in the 2nd period.
How the hell do they blow that game?
Sounds like Bishop played great
And the Hawks' 2nd goal was on a fortuitous bounce of the glass when Bishop went behind the net to control the puck. Bishop was great aside from that mental blunder. I still think the Hawks missed a few "easier" goals that were terrible shots instead of great stops.

Good to see the Winnipeg fans give Selanne his props last night.Hard to believe his rookie year was so long ago but it was one for the ages.Great player and great fans.

wish I bet on that prop for first coach fired. Lavi was +200 a week ago.
We're #1! Yay!

According to oddsmaker Bovada, Peter Laviolette is the NHL head coach most likely to be fired first this season. The odds are 2/1. Joining him on the list are Flames coach Bob Hartley (5/2 odds), Hurricanes coach Kirk Muller (3/1), Wild coach Mike Yeo (4/1) and Jets coach Claude Noel (9/2).
Should be free money. Rud needs to add that into the wagering thread.

On Laviolette, if you have so little confidence in your coach you fire him after 3 games, you probably shouldn't have started the season with him.

x1000 Makes no sense, Homer is up next on the block.
Especially if Berube is the replacement.
I'm a big fan of Chief, but is he really the guy to get the offense working? He wasn't exactly a prolific offensive player.

Is the next hottest seat Mike Yeo's?
short term, I don't think so. and there are others out there who would probably get a quicker trigger. unless they were to really tank through the first 3 months, then anything could happen. long term I would say he's up there for one of the hottest seats though. if they don't show at least some minor improvement in their finish and the development of the youngsters, I think there is a good chance he gets canned.

It seems like an awful lot of nights with just 2 or 3 games on to start the season. I know we got spoiled a bit last season with the condensed schedule, but it seems way sparser that usual to me.

Claude Julien, asked if it's better to get fired three games into the season or with three games left, as he was by the Devils:

"They both suck."
