****Official 2014 Chicago Bears Thread **** (1 Viewer)

The only concern is that this is the kind of game the Bears would inexplicably win. There's no logic behind it. And it wouldnt be in a shootout like you might think could potentially make some kind of sense. It would be a 12-7 game.
That's a fantasy. I get what you're saying but the best D in the league couldn't hold the Pack to 7 points, much less one of the worst.

Well, I had a dream last night that we won this game and I think it had that 17-6 score, so I guess I'm calling this one for the bears! As good a reason as any to predict a game!

Back in reality, if it happens not likely that way. Bears did prove that they could score on the pack in that last game until they started shooting themselves in the foot, so I still have hope.

what i'm looking for is the team to come in well prepared and play smart. If they can't come back off a bye week and fight for their coach and themselves and lose a lot of the stupid penalties and mistakes that have cost us games, then there is really a problem at the top.

go bears.

Bennett may be out. Yet another nail in the coffin.
For the last three years the Packers have been unable to stop any T.E. up the middle of the field 14 to 18 yards between the hash marks. Absolutely unable to do it. They are worse at this than stopping the run. This is their downfall. If the Bears do not have Bennett thereby reducing that threat it would greatly aid the Packers.

Looks like bennett is active. The bears have this one in the bag. They're on their way.

After they win tonight (which is a lock), they'll be 4-5.

Then they face Minnesota...after which they'll be 5-5.

Then they face Tampa...6-5.

Which will set up a showdown with Detroit.

The future looks good for the bears, and once they win tonight, their season will really take off.

This is a Packer fan in disguise right?

Now the expected td on first Drive by the Pack. Not thinking twice about skipping the 2nd qtr, maybe skip 2nd half if it goes bad enough.

So, will Trestman be fired? From the sounds of things, the wheels have come off the bus in the locker room. It sort of looks as if everyone has quit.

Still don't think so. Think DC and STC will be sacrificial canings. Hard to get rid of Trestman without the GM losing his job too, and I don't think they have the stomach to do that yet.

This is Oakland Raider bad. GB is going to make sure that they just cream the #### out of this team. I have never seen a Bears team this bad and like I have been saying for years STOP going to games and DO NOT BUY any merchandise. The root of this rot is in the ownership.

Where is this sweetness_34 guy at? I cannot wait to read what his intelligent mind creates after this one. Maybe he will defend Cutler again after he throws for 200 yards and a TD or two in the second half vs. the Packers third stringers. Jay with another pick, fumble, delay of game and careless attitude in the first half. I bet it is the defense's fault. Not Jay Boy. Maybe you will learn a lesson. There is the Packers reloading year after year and then there is the Bears signing broken down free agents to fill glaring holes left behind from outhouse awful drafts. Ohhh the owners will just fire Trestman and the coaches and then bring in a whole new regime and sell tradition again before it all goes down the same trail of tears in 2 to 3 years. Wash rinse repeat and laughing all the way to the bank.

Sweetness is fishing. No one is as freaking dumb as he is. No one!

10 passes and 4 runs in the first quarter - way to attack the opponent's weakness.
This. Horrible game plan. Awful coaching - on every level and in each phase. I realize there are some talent issues on this team, but these players are not THAT bad. This entire coaching staff needs to be fired. Immediately. The defensive schemes are a joke, the offensive playcalling is is terrible. And the worst part is that these morons actually had an EXTRA week to come up with this nonsensical pile of play calling.

They should, but you can't fire the entire staff. Who would you bring in that quickly? Impossible situation right now. Organization is a joke

####in #######s thought Emery and Trestman were going to work because they wore glasses...and were the anti Ditka type.

They both suck at their jobs. SUCK

Which current head coaches are on the got seat that you'd like to see here next year? Mike Smith? Rex Ryan?

Not sure who I'd want as a HC with who's out there. Love Rex as the DC, no way in hell as a head coach, I think he's too much of a distraction.

eta Not to mention that I still don't think Trestman gets fired this year.

Other than the Trestman hire and McClellin pick Emery has been good. If I'm George mccasky I meet with emery in the morning and tell him his job is safe but a change needs to be made at seasons end.

But blowing the coaching hire is pretty big. I really don't know what you do. I think someone should be fired tomorrow. Tucker would be a good choice to be sent packing. This was a truly dismal display of defense. But the problems on offense center around Cutler, and you are stuck with him for at least two more years. The only thing I think you could possibly do is trade Cutler to the Browns, or the Bucs, or the Raiders. There are some teams struggling with the QB position. But I don't think they will do that.

Lol, at this point I don't know which is more painful; turning on the Bears game or opening this thread.
This thread, without question. I hate opening this thread, just a bunch of complaining and fighting and jumping ship
Not that I disagree with you, but isn't it only possible to jump ship when it's still above water?
If you're ready to call it a season after 8 games, that's fine. I'm not. So yes, it's still above water
Get blown out Sunday night....still above?
Yes, but with zero room for error. 5 home games, Lions/Vikings away after Sunday.
Now?

and probably the Cutler signing, and the Lamar Houston signing who wasn't doing much before his injury. Lot of money locked up there.

I'm as down on this team as anyone in existence but this even shocked me.
Same. This was worse than any of us realists could've ever imagined.

Hard to believe its gotten this bad, this fast. Entire franchise needs blown up and re-done.

Does firing him in season really do anything though? Can the next guy down really do anything more? Normally I think all an in season fire does is a smokescreen to the fanbase that says "hey look at us we care and are doing something", but it's not really doing anything.

What I care about is that you have a plan before the season ends, so the second that last game is played pink slips are handed out and they start going for someone.

That is one long fishing trip...he has been doing it for years.

I think firing trestman is a bit of an overreaction --- you see that kind of behavior way too often.

fans always scream for the next coach or qb, and teams just cycle through guys like a revolving door, never making any progress.

was tucker an emery hire or a trestman guy?

there isn't a coach on the planet that can win with cutler, but trestman already showed you he could win with a guy like mccown.
