I remember thinking it was odd that Jeremy Maclin was so open about both he and the Eagles wanting a long term deal done. Riley Cooper was signed for 5 years. DeSean had 3 left on his contract. Why invest in ANOTHER receiver? Because the Eagles knew DeSean would be gone. Why bring in Sproles? Among other reasons, he can play the slot and get snaps at WR.
I would not be surprised to see more 12 and 22 personnel sets this year. Ertz can rotate the slot with Maclin, Cooper, Sproles, and whoever else is brought in. James Casey can get on the field more. I know the idea of subtracting DJax and adding Casey sounds terrible, but if we move the ball and score points, who cares? The run is still the meat and potatoes of this offense.
I don't know about you guys, but I believe in Chip Kelly and if he thinks this is the way to go, then it's the way we go.
