Foles sucks.

/thread
Did he throw two horrible INTs, yes he did. He also passed for over 400 yards and was about a half a foot away from throwing the game winning TD to Matthews. He is still young with not even two dozen starts. Drew Brees was the same way when he started in San Diego. What alternative would there be then if we aren't going to resign Foles.

Incredibly frustrating loss but this team is getting healthier and I see a bright future. I'm shotgunning a can of optimisim!

I hear you but man that second pick was inexcusable. Only Jay Cutler would have endorsed that.

After SNF Florio said we are in the market for a safety. No idea if we actually are or if he was just speculating, but I've seen enough of Nate Allen.
That report, along with interest in Vincent Jackson from Rappaport, was out before the game and I think it was even on Saturday. All Nate's stupidity did was up the price for any potential trade.

I don't disagree with some of the points made about yesterday's game, but to me, almost the whole thing is whoever let Brown beat the secondary. Whether that was scheme or just Allen's fault personally, that lost the game. That is the only thing that you need to prevent and you can't do it. Terrible.

I agree that it was weak not to be able to get a TD on the second-to-last drive.

Foles still needs to improve, obviously, but I think that people upset with him are blowing it out of proportion. The backpedaling comment is accurate though. There was one play toward the end where he basically took the snap and continually moved back until he threw the pass.

That was the last play. It was very madden-esque.

He's struggling fundamentally and still doing enough for us to win.

Nick Foles average passing attempts per game:

2013: 10 games started 28.7

2014: 7 games started 42.7

I realize a lot of that has to do with the Oline being hurt, but man that's a big jump per game.

That is a big jump and outside of the obvious yesterday he looked damn good yesterday IMO. A lot of balls were right on the money.

Always lose winnable games to the Cardinals:

-1991 Eagles turn the ball over 6 times at home, Tom "freaking" Tupa completes 6 of 19 passes for 218 yards (36.33 yds/catch) and the Eagles lose 26-10

-1996 Eagles fall behind late by 9. Return a kickoff for a touchdown and then recover onside kick. Kick FG to take the lead. Boomer "Bleeping" Esiason drives the Cardinals down the field with little time left to score

a TD and win the game. I was at that game in Phoenix.

-2009 NFC Championship game. Well, you know what happened. Kurt "F-ing" Warner!

I hate playing the Cardinals.

I'd be more inclined to share your optimism and let this one slide if the Cowboys weren't about to go to 7-1.
Still haven't played our divisional games with them yet. You never know, the LOLSkins could rise to the occasion. It's a rivalry game anything can happen.

I like Foles and am not trying to rag on him. But two of his biggest weaknesses this year has been missing open receivers on the deep routes, and not being able to run effectively enough to open things up with the read option. The running ability is not going to change. The downfield accuracy may change if he has a clean pocket and can step into his throw, but given that last year's offensive line health Is probably an anomaly, he won't always have ideal conditions to throw from.

I could really see Chip going for another QB next year, one that will really fit the offense he wants to run. If he got someone even close to a Russell Wilson type to run this offense look out.

This loss hit me about as hard as any loss - almost as if it was a playoff game. I had this built up as a big statement game; that they belong in the top tier of NFC contenders. I know there's a lot of season (and big games) left, but damn, this win would have put them right back in the conversation. Now they're still one big question mark. About Kelly, about Foles, about the defense.

Both losses came at the 1 yd line. ####! And like others have said, they had INCHES to go to win the game and Foles is in the shotgun!? Is the QB sneak not in the playbook? And if you don't trust Polk to be able to ram it up the gut for 1 freakin' foot, what's he on the roster for??

Huff deserves more heat than he is getting for that killer fumble. Rookie mistake I guess but damn.
Huff had a bad game period, not just the fumble. Didn't he also have a penalty that negated a big play, maybe the questionable illegal block call? Dunno, but I seem to remember his name being called a few times in a negative context. I remember yelling at the tv to get Huff away from the field.

Not to mention after he's running his mouth about his playing time too.

I just can't believe we gave up a damn 75 yard TD to lose the game. That's some college #### right there. Why the hell is he biting on the underneath stuff?!?

That QB will still go through growing pains like EVERY other young QB.

Of course. Kelly however, doesn't seem afraid to take one step back to move two steps forward. The Eagles offense would probably be better this year with Desean still on the team. But ultimately if subpar downfield blocking was affecting the plays Kelly wanted to use, then he got rid of the person who wasn't doing the job he needed him to do. Ultimately (hopefully) the Eagles will be better for that decision.

Our receivers are kind of sneaky bad this year. Maclin's a stud, but Cooper's inconsistent, Matthews really struggles catching the ball in traffic/when he's about to get hit, Huff looks lost, Brad Smith is a special teams guy who's hurt, and Jeff Maehl.

Also, speaking of Maclin, can't let that guy hit FA. Hope they give him a long term deal soon.

These two losses, that both came down to inches at the goal-line, have cost us the division. They haven't lost a non-winnable game yet (like the Cowboys and Giants games at home and the Denver game, last year), so you know there are a few coming, and likely at least one of them against the Cowboys. So you need to come away with a victory when you have a winnable game.

We're playing for the wild card, now.

Don't forget that game, I think it was opening day, where we were up the whole game, still throwing the ball, the sideline pass to Finneran where he bobbles it and the defender snatched it and pick sixed it and we lose

And Ertz came out of the gates hot but he's been lost since.

As much as I like Foles, I think he's to blame for a lot of Ertz woes. He is trying to find Cooper or Maclin every play when Ertz is open a lot. Other times, Ertz is not a part of the offense it seems. All that talk about how dangerous he was going to be. What do they watch in film?

I think that was Reid's first year, 1999. At least that year the Eagles did not have a chance to do anything.

Huff made lots of negative plays during the game. I was surprised he was not benched. They are going to kill maclin if they don't get ertz and the other wrs more involved. We missed sproles in this game

Interesting note about the upcoming game. The Eagles have never lost to a Houston Football team:

Oilers: 6-0

Texans: 3-0

Also interesting is since the Oilers moved to Tennessee, the Eagles have not beaten the Titans, going 0-4

Also interesting, if not irrelevant, the Eagles have never lost to the New York Jets (9-0 record).

Foles has to fix the footwork--If he doesnt show signs of being able to do it this year he wont amount to much. The Maclin TD was a perfect example of how good he can be when his footwork is right.

Especially if Romo's back still isn't right but he plays anyway. I suspect they might have won last night if they'd left Weeden in.
I don't think it matters. That Oline is good for the run game but susceptible to blitzing as Washington showed. Hopefully Arizonas defense has some fun.
