Well, seldom has a host country been so highly touted for the World Cup and ended up being such a disaster. In fact, just about every time every time a country with a strong soccer playing team has hosted the competition, they have won the World Cup. Argentina, England, France, Germany, Uruguay, Italy, have all won the World Cup playing at home. Brazil and Spain are two who haven't, but Brazil has done it twice.
