Last night, most hardcore Auburn fans were:

A) Watching the game, rooting for BAMA (SEC/state pride)

B) Watching the game, rooting their ass off for ND

C) Not watching the game at all

D) Delivering pizza

My guess would be "B"...
It was B, followed up by C once it hit 28-0.

LSU HB Michael Ford has declared for the NFL. That's a record 10 underclassmen declaring in one year.

LINK

At least Loston(SS) is coming back. Rebuilding year for LSU on defense. Offense should be solid.

I think anybody with 2 eyes saw that. I was impressed Bama even tried to run into that set but even more so that they were able to do so. You guys can talk about the linebackers or whatever, but when you put 8 and 9 in the box and the other team runs at will, you aren't ever going to win. The Cotton Bowl was the same way really. OU lacked the size up front to keep A&M from running at will without walking up the safeties. But they couldn't do that without leaving guys on an island in coverage. It's really hard to scheme against insanely good line talent.
Luke Joeckel is going pro. Jake Matthews is supposedly staying.

Tennessee seems to think it has a real chance at Derrick green, who would start from day 1. Also landed a prior Clemson commit at receiver who is a legacy that Dooley didn't want for some reason.
Green's made his decision....making an announcement sometime this month. I wasn't aware he'd even visited Tenn. We'll find out soon enough where he's going. There are few places he wouldn't start.
He visited Knoxville for the Florida game as said ""With College Gameday being there, the night game atmosphere and how loud the crowd was, it was the best atmosphere I've ever been around," he said. "Tennessee is very much in the mix, this visit really helped a lot. There is no question I will consider them until the end."Jones has apparently been on him big time for the last month.

Good to know....I hadn't started paying attention to his recruitment until he asked to visit at Michigan. I hadn't heard of him til the end of October / beginning of Nov.

If USC can get their QB situation figured out (I think that means Max Browne rather than Max Wittek) look for them to be back competing next year for a BCS Bowl game. Their schedule: no Oregon, Stanford at home. At Notre Dame will be tough, but their other non-conference opponents are at Hawaii, and Boston College and Utah State at home. Meanwhile, my Bruins have to play at Nebraska, at Oregon, at Stanford, and at USC. I think ending up in the top 25 is a long shot...
Not surprisingly, but I once again disagree with your deference to Southern Cal. They are an absolute mess right now. And, Trojan fans are already crowing about how bad they think Max Browne looked during the all-star games. Until Kiffin is gone, the college football Southern Cal hating world can feel pretty good. When they bring in a real coach again, though, they'll be back to a consistent top 5-10 program.UCLA will finish in the top 25 (and begin ranked in the top 20) and will win the Pac-12 South again.

Most noteworthy to me is Vanderbilt moving into the final rankings. I think this is the first time they've been ranked all year and they haven't been ranked in the final poll since 1948. James Franklin doing work.
One helluva good coach. He's passed up other jobs as well to stay there. He's going to have his choice of jobs when he does decide to leave. Truly incredible what he's doing there, considering the school and league.
I think he's going to be their Harbaugh in the end. Harbaugh really showed the blueprint about how to recruit and sell a top end school. You go national and sell your degree to kids, not the NFL. Too often the schools aren't selling the value of the education but that was a huge reason Andrew Luck ended up at Stanford.
Always wondered why a team like Stanford doesn't get every single kid they recruit. I mean its ####### Stanford!
They get the vast majority of them. The big problem is getting kids through admissions. Once they are admitted, it is somewhat rare for Stanford to lose out on a player.

I think Saban set up this "relationship" between McCarron and Miss Alabama. See what happens when you come to Alabama, 16 year old highly rated QB's across the country?
They don't get a ton of these. With all due respect to Mssrs. Namath and Stabler, (neither of whom I'm old enough to have seen play in college), I think McCarron is probably the best QB you guys have ever had.
Agree...but it's changing some. The 5th ranked QB in the 13 class is signed. It also changing at WR. Signed the #2 two years in a row.
He transferred, but Alabama also signed Phillip Sims, 5-star #2 (Scout) QB in the country in 2010.You guys are getting a good one in Cooper Bateman.

I wouldn't put much faith in the armchair scouts. QBs never look good in the all star games because it's a dumbed down playbook and they have little to no time to build chemistry with any of their WR.

I don't put any faith at all in that. I'm sure he's really, really good. And, if he's not, Southern Cal will probably sign another high 4 star or 5 star QB for the 2014 class. I don't think it matters that much with the culture that Kiffin has created and how bad a head coach he is.

Me either and as a non-USC fan I love it. I'm surrounded by USC fans and just love watching them squirm and/or make up excuses.

Tajh Boyd is going to stay at Clemson. A little surprising given how weak the QBs are this year.
Entirely possible next year's crop is just as weak (doubt Manziel, Bridgewater, etc. declare) and he can continue to build on this year's performance making him a potential top 5 pick.

We'll see. I don't think he is anywhere near a top 5 player and was figuring it would be hard for his stock to get higher than after the win vs. LSU. I didn't think Manziel could declare next year. Bridgewater should.

Manziel is eligible next year (3 years removed from HS). I'm surprised Boyd didn't try to capitalize on the Russell Wilson short guy success.

Boyd passes more like Tebow than Russell Wilson. His problem is he can't throw. That usually doesn't equal success in the NFL and is difficult to cash in on.

Was this

discussed already in this thread? And if so, it was not discussed enough. Has to be one of the greatest college football hits in recent years.

Quote from an Unnamed SEC OC after the first TD last night:"This game is over right now. Alabama coaches know it and so do the Notre Dame coaches. Notre Dame had their safeties up on every running play and Alabama ran right through them ... and Notre Dame knew what Alabama was going to do on every play and couldn't do anything about it. This one is over and its going to get ugly."
I can always tell how a Bama game is going to go based on our first 2 or 3 carries. When we come out and start knocking down 5-7 yards on every attempt right from the start, I know the game is over already. For instance in this one, after that first drive I knew there wasn't a chance in the world for Notre Dame to win. If you can't stop Bama in the first quarter, there is no way you will stop them in the 4th.

Ouch. That's horrible for LSU. Hard to replace a senior class AND ten underclassmen.Unless the senior class was already really small. Any idea how many seniors they are replacing that are in the 2 deep?

I hope so. Our backup QB this year was a running QB with very minimal passing skills, imo. Very fortunate that McCarron stayed on two feet all year.

Whenever a QB can get 3 years of experience at college QB I think they should, and judging recent drafts it seems most do. Obviously there are exceptions, but it's not a given either of those declare and there are just as many questions about others as there are Tahj.

Why any kid would stay in college when they can get a contract in the NFL is beyond me. Too much can go wrong. Injuries or have a really bad year and your draft status drops costing you millions. Nah, I say get it while you can.

Yeah I don't get the Boyd hate. I really like the kid and think he will be a solid pro. I have no idea what he is thinking going back to school. The QB's in this class are garbage. When Tyler Bray is being considered as one of the top ones, you know something is wrong.Huge mistake for Boyd, imo. His value can only go down.

College passer rating doesn't mean that much though. Tebow was 4th in 2008 and 1st in 2009. #2 all-time career. As far as the LSU game goes, Boyd did throw 50 passes in that game. Still, no interceptions on those 50 and it was the most impressive overall performance I've seen out of Boyd.

He played well in the FSU game though he had an INT to go with his 3 (or 4) TDs. I'm struggling to see how he's ANYTHING like Tebow when it comes to passing.

I couldn't agree more. Players shouldn't play football for free unless they have to.

Probably the most impressive game I've seen out of him too. Most of the time he is just throwing all over teams with awful defenses during the season and it makes it hard to tell his quality. I was just looking at some stats and he is 32/71 for only 339 yards and 2 touchdowns (3 ints) in his combined 3 games against South Carolina. Didn't realize it was that poor.

What does any of that have to do with him as a prospect?Tim Tebow in 2009 finished with highest passer rating in the country (164.17). In 2008, he finished with the 4th highest QB rating at 172.4. In 2007, he had the 2nd highest QB rating at 172.5.

Tim Tebow is a horrible passing QB.

This is all true and my only real point was, I struggle to see how Boyd's passing ability is ANYTHING like Tebow. You can look at any statistic you want and it's still not close. That I made a poor choice by using QB rating is missing the point.

Interesting point here. Yards/attempt? Tebow 2007 - 9.4 (1st in country

Tebow 2009 - 9.2 (4th in country)

Tebow 2008 - 9.2 (4th in country)

Boyd 2012 - 9.12 (5th in country)

Boyd 2011 - 7.67 (decent, 43rd in the country)

Boyd 2010 - 5.22 (he didn't play much, but this is awful)

Completion percentage?

Tebow 2009 - 67.8 (7th in country)

Boyd 2012 - 67.2 (16th in country)

Tebow 2007 - 66.9 (11th in country)

Tebow 2008 - 64.4 (23rd in country)

Boyd 2011 - 59.7 (69th in country)

Boyd 2010 - 52.4 (didn't qualify, but would have been equivalent to 106th in country)

I'm looking at a lot of QB statistics and Tebow's at Florida pretty much blow Boyd away. This season, Boyd was pretty good.

Which statistics are not close and make Boyd so much better than Tebow?

Manziel is eligible next year (3 years removed from HS). I'm surprised Boyd didn't try to capitalize on the Russell Wilson short guy success.
Boyd passes more like Tebow than Russell Wilson. His problem is he can't throw. That usually doesn't equal success in the NFL and is difficult to cash in on.
You mean the Boyd who ended up 4th in QB rating in the country? That Boyd? The Boyd who put up over 300 yards against that vaunted LSU/SEC defense"?
What does any of that have to do with him as a prospect?Tim Tebow in 2009 finished with highest passer rating in the country (164.17). In 2008, he finished with the 4th highest QB rating at 172.4. In 2007, he had the 2nd highest QB rating at 172.5.

Tim Tebow is a horrible passing QB.
This is all true and my only real point was, I struggle to see how Boyd's passing ability is ANYTHING like Tebow. You can look at any statistic you want and it's still not close. That I made a poor choice by using QB rating is missing the point.
Interesting point here. Yards/attempt? Tebow 2007 - 9.4 (1st in country

Tebow 2009 - 9.2 (4th in country)

Tebow 2008 - 9.2 (4th in country)

Boyd 2012 - 9.12 (5th in country)

Boyd 2011 - 7.67 (decent, 43rd in the country)

Boyd 2010 - 5.22 (he didn't play much, but this is awful)

Completion percentage?

Tebow 2009 - 67.8 (7th in country)

Boyd 2012 - 67.2 (16th in country)

Tebow 2007 - 66.9 (11th in country)

Tebow 2008 - 64.4 (23rd in country)

Boyd 2011 - 59.7 (69th in country)

Boyd 2010 - 52.4 (didn't qualify, but would have been equivalent to 106th in country)

I'm looking at a lot of QB statistics and Tebow's at Florida pretty much blow Boyd away. This season, Boyd was pretty good.

Which statistics are not close and make Boyd so much better than Tebow?
sorry...."and" above should be "but". I'm not sure this gives the story either, certainly the ranking in the country. The talent pools each were going against are completely different. I look at Boyd's ability to get the ball vertical with regular success among other things. They're just different types of QB in my mind. Perhaps the completion percentages from 0-10, 11-15, 16-20, 21+ would help?? Not sure.

A lot of people posting here that are either Gamecock fans or haven't watched much of Boyd this year. I understand dogging him before this year, but the guy under center this year was much, MUCH improved. Completely different QB.
